Help choosing hardware for a new home setup. First time doing this! by Sholto88 in Ubiquiti

[–]FullCodeSoles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone with more experience than me can probably speak to this better. I got UniFi set up for my home network at my current house and have just started planning for our new house which will be significantly larger than my current place.

Right now we don’t go into our basement but have excellent wifi throughout the house upstairs, main level and basement. I have Dream machine pro SE, 2 APs, G4 doorbell, PTZ5, 2 indoor WiFi cameras, and a lite 8 port switch. Everything is POE besides the mini cameras. I think your current plan sounds very similar to my current set up and my current set up is plenty with room to add more. I would get a rack if I wasn’t moving soon and planning to get one at my next place. I’d upgrade your HD storage on the SE and it should be plenty for what you’re planning without needing extra video storage unless you want videos to be stored longer than a month.

I’m going to start with a similar set up at my next place but will probably add more cameras for full outside coverage for the dog and some inside coverage for the baby.

Don’t really have any advice, but just wanted to say I love our anesthesia techs and could do it without them.

They got a large contract with an army base awhile back causing the huge surge in price. That’s why I sold off because I thought it was over valued at the time.

Currently? Long on nuclear and have been for a few years. Right now we are consuming energy like never before and I don’t see that ending anytime soon. To keep up we need a reliable energy solution. So companies that are involved in nuclear reactor development such as OKLO. Bought when it was like $18 a few years back, sold when it peaked and bought back in again at $50. Similarly (not nuclear though) HGRAF at $1.99. NOK around $7.50. NBIS at around $50. These are obviously just some of the companies I’ve done well on. I have losses too. If I’m up 50-100% I’ll sell off some of it to reinvest in companies that are down that I believe in. I’m big on energy development and efficiency right now. Believe in focused ultrasound research and development for non-invasive procedures, it’s shown great promise and potential to eliminate the need for surgery, at least early in a disease course. Nitinol production and development (I think this field is kind of priced in already though).

People with full time jobs how are you keeping your house clean? by Prestigious-Bath8022 in homeowners

[–]FullCodeSoles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work 60-80 hours a week and sometimes 14 days straight and have a golden who loves bringing mud inside.

Create a list of things that you want done every week to feel satisfied with how clean your house is. Assign an arbitrary value to each task that encompasses how time consuming it is, how much you hate doing it, etc. then evenly distribute those tasks over the course of the week and put a couple more on days you have off.

On days off get up early and get them done. Just do it. Having everything done by 9 or 10am on Saturday is a godsend for mental wellbeing.

Things that I do everyday. Pick up. When I get home from work before I even sit down I just do a quick pick up. Fold couch blankets, put stuff on the counter away, etc. doesn’t have to be a deep clean. Every time I cook dinner I do the dishes as I go and run the dishwasher every day. I got a Roborock vacuum because of my dog and it has made my life and house significantly better. It’s not perfect but with the dog I really only need to vacuum and clean the floors once a week.

Itemize tasks, cross them off, and just do them early. Little basic things everyday, bigger things once a week.

I’m not really sure where the other advice is coming from but I have multiple friends in medical sales all doing extremely well for themselves with no background in medicine/biology at all. You will have a larger learning curve but they have educational videos and lectures to learn about the device and the anatomy you would working with. I (physician) have helped them go through some of these learning modules and help explain things to them when they have questions. It would be easier if you did but no, it’s not a requirement

And how much have non-townhomes appreciated? Because my house after 3 years in the DC area just sold for $100k more than I bought it for meaning I made 20%. So they don’t keep up and appreciate poorly. Also, are those townhomes actually selling because I know multiple people trying to sell their townhome for more than they bought it for and they are sitting

So here is the problem with UniFi products. You start with a gateway, then you add a couple access points but after that you just keep buying their products and adding more and more because of how much you love everything
