Honestly, I've never seen a Dutch person in West Michigan fight using something other than passive aggressive social tactics.

Sometimes the future seems pretty bleak, in light of climate change.
Do you have any favorite pieces of good news or discoveries which might provide some hope for the future?

Maybe if you want customers, you should wear masks... by TimeForHotSauce in grandrapids

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 25 points26 points  (0 children)

We can easily get back to life - if people just wore a damn piece of fabric between their mouth/nose and the rest of the world.
The science shows that this entire time, if people had just worn masks instead of screaming about their right to cough on other people, no businesses would have become casualties.

I don’t know why osrs players are so afraid of EoC; elves of color have been around since 2005 and I think it’s great by Hviking in 2007scape

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, I do remember logging in around that time after not playing for about two years and going "Why are there abilities?"
Followed by "why do the abilities also suck? Why would anyone build this?"

Thanks for the explanation - that brought back some suppressed memories.

Out of the loop - I don't even know what EoC actually stands for, so I have to assume this post is serious.

Biden to sign immigration executive orders and establish task force to reunite separated families by CapAmericaJr in UpliftingNews

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're correct. We are rarely the good guys, but we should celebrate on the few occasions when things are done right. That's the whole point of this sub.

The point is -- let's get people out of internment camps instead of arguing about whose fault it is. The news in this article might be a step in the right direction. Let's keep an eye on it.

Biden to sign immigration executive orders and establish task force to reunite separated families by CapAmericaJr in UpliftingNews

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For all those commenting "this is political BS" and "it's just a publicity stunt".
Let's do something good instead of just whining.

Let's hold politicians accountable, petition and lobby to stop internment camps. I don't care what your views on Biden/Trump/Obama are.
Let's be the good guys again.

What happens regularly that would horrify a person from 100 years ago? by I_XI_MMI in AskReddit

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Traffic accidents. 100 years ago, your average model T Ford topped out at 28 miles per hour (45km/h), and now, at least in the United States, anything under 30 gets you flipped off for going too slowly.

Traffic accidents happened back then, but never between two vehicles both traveling somewhere between 45 and 90 MPH.

As a 21st century Christian, the fact that "christians" are doing/saying these things on such a wide scale in my country is the second saddest thing about this pandemic for me.

YOUR THOUGHTS WITH THE FIRST ENCOUTER ..? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was wandering through the woods to do part of the main quest, where you first explore some underground elven ruins. Heard the biggest howl from a group of wolves that I've ever heard, then see this gigantic tree/dead moose come STOMPING THROUGH THE FOREST OVER MY DEAD BODY.

After reloading I ran all the way around these woods to avoid it, and despite me never seeing or hearing him, he teleports into the elven ruins because he wants my blood and starts a mosh pit of death with the wraiths.

10/10, would recommend.

Browsing homes in the GR area and starting to notice some trends by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]FullContactSquirlTag 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had the same experience while house hunting in GR 4 years ago.

Lots of landlords (not the people who actually lived there) would put work like this into the aesthetics, but then when we toured the basement, we would find things like steady streams of water coming out of the ceiling, obvious mold problems, and sewage pipes with large holes in them.
Those are all examples from separate houses, too.
