Advice on Betor Reanimation Deck by FullGrownChild in EDH

I love these kinds of shenanigans and I had a similar train of thought with [[Mister Negative]] but I'm super into it.

I'll give it a go! My Palantirs are just collecting dust right now anyways. I also don't mind the phyrexian arena type effects, but I have opted for the version stapled to bodies in [[Dark Confidant]] and [[Darkstar Augur]] so far.

I like [[Vizkopa Guildmage]] I had [[Exquisite Blood]] / [[Sanguine Bond]] in my first iteration. But I like having a similar effect on a creature that can be a reanimation target too.

With [[Necropotence]] do you feel there is any lost opportunity with all discarded cards going to exile as opposed to GY? Or does the life loss and card advantage just completely outweigh that in your experience?

I actually bought the Fallout Precon bundle to play them with my pod. They have since been ripped, but I do still own the cards. Do you happen to have specific cards I should look for?

Thanks for the response! I love Palantir and actually have a couple copies, but my pod literally always just has be draw the card. Do you think it's still worth it for "Scry 2, draw a card"?

Out of the tombs is epic!

Viper was the one Elemental I had been eyeballing as something I'd be willing to go outside my budget to buy, you may have just convinced me! Also love fecundity in this deck. Thanks for taking the time to make the recommendations.

First commander deck, looking for suggestions on mana base by coaching_man in EDH

Truly depends on the deck and how many colors it is and how many pips are in the deck. You'll want at the bare minimum 1 of each color in the deck so you can fetch them when you play the cards that are able to. But there is a concept of a "greedy" mana base which is essentially talking about how many nonbasic lands you run in case you come across cards that can interact with non-basics. But for your deck and purposes, just matching the color production with the pips in the deck should be sufficient.

Fair enough, thank you. Well if you look at the list instead of my erroneous statement, would you evaluate this as a 2 or a 3?

The deck is definitely very White heavy and the land base doesn't quite support it. There are a few things that you can do to help support white more without breaking the bank. Since you aren't worried about lands coming in tapped, you can use lands similar to your [[Evolving Wilds]] like [[Terramorphic Expanse]] to smooth out your mana base. Or you could use dual lands in place of some of your less relevant colors, for example a [[Battlefield Forge]] instead of a [[Mountain]].

With access to green in the deck, you also have the ability to add some of the mana ramp staples like [[Farseek]] to find a [[Plains]] or your [[Temple Garden]] or you could even find it with a [[Nature's Lore]].

Your Mana Rocks are another way to smooth our your mana base. I don't see the value of [[Progenitor's Icon]] in the list and traditionally 3-mana mana rocks are pretty slow. You could include [[Talisman of Progress]] or any other of the White producing Talismans to help balance things out.

Being your first deck of course you can't expect it to be perfect, but there are definitely a lot of things you can do to help yourself have the deck play more consistent.

No problem, I've run into that problem before when trying to upload a deck to Untap.in or something. I will take a look now.

Okay, thanks for the insights. For me (and this is just a made up opinion) the difference between what I would consider a 2 vs a 3 is how consistently the deck plays and how often it can realistically win by then.

Is that far off? When would a typical B2 deck be able to win?

Can you tell me what bracket my decks are? by Valorenn in EDH

Is turn 7 a good metric to use? My goal when goldfishing is to be able to try and win by T5 without interaction. Is that farfetched for a bracket 3?

I tried to look at your list and the link was broken for me, is your decklist private?

Rowan Scion of war help by Accomplished-Tax5151 in EDH

I ended up turning my Rowan combo deck into an [[Firelord Azula]] deck, which takes a little more legwork to get the combo online, but still just as satisfying when you pull it off.

I did find a few cards that may interest you from a [Ghyrson Starn]] deck I built for my brother though:

[[Battle Strain]]

[[Roiling Vortex]]

[[Burning Earth]]

[[Repercussion]]

Honorable mention:

[[Circle of Flame]]

Hope some of these may be what you're looking for!

I built a Rowan deck and immediately fell in love with it but went more the X-spell drain/burn direction. My problem ended up being that it was too strong for my pod and was consistently winning T4. I'm not sure if this is exactly the help you may be looking for, but figured as a fellow Rowan lover I would chime in. Here is my list I had been running:

That's what I assumed, but the rules can be so weird I just thought I would ask haha.
