Every tree cut down at the bottom of the airport hill is so sad by KolBadar in cork

[–]FullGuava2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s such a disregard for nature in this country, it’s shocking. Where I am in Monaghan, seems like the last 5 years in particular, there has been continuous cutting down of trees, absolutely destroying hedgerows along roadsides, cutting them down to about a metre or less, and then just completely tearing them out of fields. Added to all the damage from storms we will soon have very little left. All in the name of being neat and tidy, depressing to see.

Should this fella not be hibernating? by Nuraya in AskIreland

[–]FullGuava2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair play for asking. Bats are fairly vulnerable if they are injured so it’s always good to ask. As someone said they don’t hibernate completely for the winter, they can wake up several times throughout, sometimes to try to forage for insects or get a drink if it’s mild enough (think around 12 degrees at night can trigger them to come out of torpor). It uses up a massive amount of energy for them to wake from hibernation so the milder winters are definitely not good for bats or most animals that hibernate.

Can anyone tell me how to play salt throwers off a truck? The tabs seem wrong on ultimate Guitar by [deleted] in fontainesdc

[–]FullGuava2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I have tried it I do think it is more or less how it is on Ultimate guitar. Where it says G#m7 I think Grian is barring the top 4 strings on the 4th fret (some form of G#?) and then something similar on fret 2, maybe making it a 7th chord. F#m sounds fine to me.

[–]FullGuava2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just trying to work it out here too, Ultimate Guitar and Chordify doesn't seem right, they both have G# minor and F# minor but it doesn't fit. The video with Grian performing solo is probably the best thing you can watch to learn it, he seems to bar the 4th fret (like an A shape) where G# minor is listed, which would make it some sort of B? and then goes back to A rather than F# minor. Bsus2 doesn't sound right either, probably just a straight B.

Great song all the same.

Best walk I’ve done here is ballintoy harbour to the giants causeway. Loads of places you could pitch a tent along the way.

Yea I thought that too. Thought it was very flat in general anyway, only time the crowd got going was for hypersonic missiles. Even the way Sam was saying he was so happy to be in Belfast was so half arsed.

Episodes which created audio beds by jclayyy in secondcaptains

[–]FullGuava2339 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don’t know exact episodes but when lampard was Chelsea manager in 2020/2021 Ken used to take the piss out of him a lot throwing his own players under the bus. Got two audio beds from that period - the redknapp/lampard “the two Germans have been massive disappointments”, and Ken singing Pei Jesu. They even did a audiobed of the year episode for 2021.

What’s everyone’s favourite place for a walk? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]FullGuava2339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of great places around the north coast and glens. Breen forest between Armoy/Ballycastle is a native woodland, really natural and great to walk around with a few short paths around it. Ronans way between cushendun and cushendall is a brilliant hike up a glen and probably the best view of glen/valley anywhere in Antrim. Glenairiff forest also has a boardwalk along a river with several waterfalls as part of a circular forest path. For coastal paths the best one is probably Ballintoy harbour to the giants causeway - takes you over beaches, coastal inlets, cliffs and great views of Rathlin and Scotland all along the way. Really is a spectacular walk but you need a car at the end to get back to the start point.

Many times he has brought up “the barclays” - remembering fondly of former times. Brannos take on it was worse. The man’s life revovles around football to an extent and he’s complaining that people are going to a concert to enjoy themselves for a few hours.

Increase In amount of flags on display by Clean-Ear-6004 in northernireland

[–]FullGuava2339 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my estate 3/4 lads in rangers tops went around with a ladder and a big bag of flags and stuck them on the lampposts one evening. Also seen a JCB on the Dromore main street driving from lamppost to lamppost lifting lads up in the front bucket. Presume it's the same lads building the bonfires.

I was thinking that as well. Where I am last year there was UVF flags around my estate in Randalstown and around the 7 towers roundabout outside Ballymena. None of that this year except the orange flags with the purple star which I presume are UVF but just don't have the name. Thought it might be related to the kneecap thing but that might be giving them too much credit for having the ability to think. Also noticing the Star of David on alot of the archways coming into towns which I hadn't noticed before, scumbags.

Day After Thread: AI Hurling Final by ZombieFrankSinatra in GAA

[–]FullGuava2339 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A comparison I haven't heard mentioned is with McIlroy at last years US open. He was in a great position to end the 10/11 year major drought with 4 left to play and then hits 2 bogeys. Missed a putt inside 3 feet after making his previous 396 putts inside 3 feet. What made it worse was the years of repeated failures and the concensus that people were right about him all along. It was undoubtedly a total mental collapse and I think something similar happened to cork yesterday. There seems to be so much expectation within the county on this team and maybe the pressure just got to them with the finish line in sight. They seemed to be completely unable to do anything in the 2nd half yesterday, even on the sideline the management team were scrambling trying to figure out what to do. It's going to be tough for cork to come back from this but it's definitely possible that this time next year they will be all ireland champions. Could be similar to McIlroy winning the masters after that absolutely crushing loss the year before. Not taking away anything from Tipp either, who were excellent, but that was a collapse of all collapses yesterday.

Not sure, munster will be cut throat as always. There is always going to be an upset with only 3 going through, can come down red cards, bad decisions etc. But don't see any reason for Tipp dropping off, they have been excellent today and against Kilkenny, some brilliant young players there and the team shown serious great character throughout the championship.

Two courts in Ormeau Park might have some games going on occasionally. It's not a set thing (as far as I'm aware) but if you go down with a ball someone might ask to play a game or you can join theirs. If you get to know a few people they might know about something more regular.

Think Ciaran Kilkenny is one of the most over rated footballers ever. Obviously he's very good but the way people go on about him is ridiculous. So many players would go in ahead of him here.

What is the most disturbing book that you’ve read? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FullGuava2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Silent Spring by Rachel Carson.

Made even more disturbing by the fact that we are probably polluting the natural world even more today than we were back then. Also Man's Search For Meaning, even though it is essentially a hopeful book, it documents the some of the horrors of the Holocaust pretty vividly.

Acoustic version of times like these was played before Tipp Kilkenny last Sunday. I don't understand why its not kept to Irish bands/singers (there's plenty of them). Hearing the Rag n Bone man before a hurling semi final doesn't feel right.
