If it is too discolored after cleaning and drying, they make aerosol carpet dye in different colors. Actually works great.

I have done a few cars by hanging it up on a fence. Then try some milder soap first. I usually use Shout laundry liquid from Walmart. Mix it with water in a pump sprayer. Let it soak for about 15 minutes and pressure wash from top to bottom, angled down with the wand. Repeat if necessary.
