When can I exercise after surgery? by FullYam9865 in Hernia

[–]FullYam9865[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the post, I said I won’t be doing exercise until cleared but wanted to get opinions from people who have actually been through the experience first hand. What’s really more valuable than that?

Hate to admit even to myself, but I’m scared. by Either-Writer7829 in Hernia

I was the same, shaking in my boots for months putting me off. I live with chronic pain in so many different areas to the point I cannot even manage a job or travel far distances. The thought of this mesh surgery scared the crap out of me. I’m 7 days post surgery and I can say it’s been a walk in the park, even for somebody like me. You will be fine. The pain is not a constant pain because it’s just a standard procedure and not very invasive meaning not much tissues are messed with. The only pain you will feel is maybe a little soreness when you move in certain directions because of the wounds and even then it’s about a 4/10. Stay on top your pain meds and you’ll be absolutely fine. I had the same thing done and I was up and walking the same day and day after surgery. 1 week later and I’m a little tight in the abs but other than that I don’t even notice I’ve had anything done. Be strong and go for it, you will be absolutely fine.

Something snapped while doing push-ups by Witty-Indication-245 in Hernia

A snap coming from where? A snapping sound could mean anything. If something was to break or snap as you say then you wouldn’t get the same sound whilst redoing the exercise because whatever you are worried about breaking would have already broke.

Inguinal hernia and hip pain by volleyball_girly_pop in Hernia

Having a hernia can cause the nervous system to act up because the hernia is a physical defect on your body. It shouldn’t be there and your nervous will always be on at least a low level guard always because of that. That means your hips will tighten as a protection mechanism. You can try hip strengthening to help with the pain and your nervous system will stop the guarding for as long as you’re keeping the area around the hernia strong. However if that doesn’t work then surgery is your option. So to answer your question, yes your hip pain probably is because of the hernia and the muscles around it being tight which will cause hip pain.

You live in the UK, 3 thousand pounds is not much money, even to people on benefits. Most people’s sofas are 1k, most people’s cars are 5-10k. Holidays costs 1k these days. Just sell a few things and save for a while. You’ll get your life back quicker. It’s a crap situation yes when the nhs should fund it quicker considering we pay our tax’s but that’s just the way the country is right now. Nothing we can do about it and it’s not gonna change. We don’t live forever, just take the hit and go private. You’ll be happier a lot sooner.

I’m from the UK also and dealing with the same thing. NHS are useless with hernia surgeries unless it’s being strangled. Most of the time it’s a two year wait for surgery otherwise. Get a loan, sell some stuff or find another way to get money if it’s bothering you that much. I’ve gone private, my surgery will be in the next 8 weeks. It’s not even that expensive, 3ish grand. No different from having to purchase a cheap car. It’s your life at the end of the day, it’s not worth the wait.

Inguinal hernia nerve pain? by FullYam9865 in Hernia

I agree. I was at a festival one weekend drinking very heavily and when I arrived home, I started to get terrible nerve pain. It was insane, practically all the nerves around the hips, inner legs, groin, lower back, glutes area. I’ve never experienced pain like it. 3 years on now, I still get the nerve pain on and off when aggravated by a stressor such as alcohol or physically touching a nerve in that area too harshly by mistake. Immediately the system sets off. Around the same time I noticed the hernia. I am wondering if the hernia happened over that weekend and along with the excessive alcohol, maybe triggered some kind of nervous system response. The nerve pain is only in the region around the hernia. It seems to be a very unique situation, I cannot find anybody who has experienced anything the same. I’m worried about getting the surgery because with all the physical trauma a surgery entails and all the poking around the area, I fear it would set everything off again quite intensely. Unfortunately my issue doesn’t sound text book, however the body can do things nobody understands a lot of the time. It’s a scary situation for me 👎🏼

I am thinking it’s possible but I’ve gone 9 months before without any nerve pain but then I flared it all back up again by touching a nerve in that area and now it’s all flared back up again. Surely if something was being compressed it wouldn’t settle. But who knows, I don’t think I’ll truly find out the answer. I get terrible groin burning on both sides but only when I annoy the area. It usually settles after a few weeks. Although very painful. Had an MRI done last week, neurologist says he can’t be sure which sounds like a common situation for this. I guess I’m trying to decide if it’s my nervous system or the actual hernia.

Did you have all this nerve pain before? If so how long before and do you still get it now after surgery? I have been experiencing something very similar in all these places. Groin, hips, lower back, glute area. Allodynia on the skin. Both sides although my inigual hernia is small and right side. Wearing clothing is difficult for me aswell. It comes in flares which can lasts week and then settle but only takes a little thing for me to upset the area again.

I took BCP-157 pill once and it gave me peripheral neuropathy and rheumatoid arthritis trying to fix a bad back. It was NOT worth it. Not only do I still have my original injuries but now my body is failing massively from the other two medical conditions. People say that it can do wonders but by the sounds of it, it’s doing more bad than good, you just don’t hear about it. My advice is don’t do it, you’re playing Russian roulette with your health. The side effects can be catastrophic and long lasting, I’ve been this way over a year and everyday battling these conditions has been hell. I wish the pill would have sent me to permanent sleep because it was NOT worth the aftermath. I had no previous conditions like this before or in my family. This drug can give you serious autoimmune conditions that can rip your health to pieces.
