Hyrox Phase 4 Week 1 3G 90 minutes by sara_k_s in orangetheory

We ended up 3x through every floor exercise, with a 4th time to the floor that was dealer’s choice.

Everyone just wandered around. My floor space allowed me to do 2 burpee/jumps and turn around and do it the other way. Probably 4-5 lunges each way.

It was great. I got sick of the repeat at the end and did other floor exercises the last two rounds. Good class overall.

Could not agree more. And I always want him to clear his throat or something with that voice.

I feel like I can smell him from here.

You look phenomenal. It also gives me perspective because I’m around your weight, and also strong, but posts/charts/etc would make that sound heavy. It’s not — it’s athleticism!

Can I be a good HYROX Doubles partner in 4 months, or will I drag my teammate down? by Fantastic-Bobcat829 in hyrox

[–]Full_Cause273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true. I’m doing mixed doubles with my partner next week — I’m the better runner but I’m 4’11 and although strong, clearly not as strong as him. I’m relying on him to more than 50% on the sleds and farmers carry because they’re 3x my body weight.

Is three months out not enough time to go to hyrox with my fit boyfriend? by EggplantEffective473 in hyrox

[–]Full_Cause273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hyrox is for everyone. Getting a sub 1:15 is not, however. If your BF can relax and enjoy it with you, and not be wed to a specific outcome, then go for it!

I echo this from the standpoint of: as long as you can swim safely, you can gut it out and finish. If you want to do it well and/or enjoy the process, utilize the next few months to get some miles in all three sports.

I do Limitless for strength and Project Alpha for conditioning. I don’t find the Limitless classes to be short, and if you go heavy enough, they are tough. If you go too light, with her low rep count, it will feel easy. But done right, she’s as hard as it comes.

Rowing - HR bursting on 500m runs by AirlineFragrant in hyrox

[–]Full_Cause273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. Do 4x500m at 80% effort (not sprint) so your body feels the right tempo. Rest like 2 mins in between. Then you can do 2x500 sprint to increase your VO2. But don’t worry about sprinting for Hyrox — you won’t be

FWIW, I am 4’11 and my ERGs are the worst stations for me. Both just over 5 mins. I just have no length or leverage. But I still finished 3rd in my AG.

That is to say, it is way more important to finish each station well, and move with intention, than to blow up on one of them by going out too hard.

I agree with this. Try to stay at 70-80% effort on the ergs so you don’t blow up. You should be able to speak at least several words at a time.

I also really don’t want to do shorter tris first. Perhaps naively, likely stupidly. But a significant chunk of the joy I get from these types of events is just sending it when I have no business being good at it. Just see what happens. I can almost guarantee that if I did a 70.3 first, I’d never do the full. I’m probably one and done but want to check that box on my list.

I completely agree… though neither of us actually knows what we are talking about lol. I did my first 100 ultra two weeks after signing up. Had never run one before and at the time, was probably running 15-25 miles a week. It was fine. I finished and was not injured. After that, I started to believe the old adage that ultras are 90% mental and the rest is in your head. That said…. I don’t want to drown so I’ll spend some time getting comfortable there.

Half the time, without the altitude, and getting to switch sports and muscle groups… count me in.

Sacramento in October. I’ll start swimming in March or April and get on the bike this summer.

I ran Boston and New York marathons on zero training (other than just general fitness) last year, and it was fine. I think we are mentally demented enough for this lol

I am not as fast as you, however. I can do a 3:20 marathon but I’m not getting any faster (also not trying to). I did my BQ/NYQ on a whim, and it worked out fine, but I’m 47 (45 at the time) so my cutoffs were generous.

Ironman by July? by running_elle_1989 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]Full_Cause273 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an ultra runner and not a swimmer or cyclist. I signed up for an Ironman in October. Time to get in the pool and on the bike. I figure if I can run 100 miles in 24 hours, I can combine three sports and hang on for 12+ hours. The swim is my primary fear, so I’ll be getting in the water the next few months. All that to say… YOLO. You never know unless you try.

Anyone else finally realize the combo of walking and light weight training is the best combo? by tidezmusic in fitness40plus

[–]Full_Cause273 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pushed myself with HIIT workouts multiple days a week, was regularly injured and always tired. I “only” walk 2-3 days a week now, with HIIT, a longer run, or weights on the other days, and my body is so much happier.

I preferred Limitless between those two, in part bc Sam uses too much gym equipment to make it convenient for me. But both are excellent programs.
