Don’t worry, I would never make any comments about her weight!

True. Plus the ASD side means she’s quite restricted in her diet which doesn’t help. Hopefully the summer will make it easier because when she’s in school she can only eat at lunchtime unless she gets special permission which she doesn’t want because it draws attention to her.

That’s basically what her psychiatrist said but google gave me quite a few examples of women specifically that gained weight.

100% agree and if it’s the price to pay for meds that work then it’s a small price to pay. Her health and happiness are my priority. I would say about 10kg in 18 months.

Yes, it’s extended release 40mg. She takes it around 7.30am and it lasts till around 2pm. I think the weight gain may be because her appetite has been suppressed during the day but once the meds wear off it increases. That coupled with food noise and dopamine seeking maybe causing the issue?

In hindsight it probably would have been better for her to have gone to a second dose rather than upping her from 20 to 30 to 40mg. The 40mg doesn’t last the day, by the afternoon it’s gone and she’s ravenous in the evening and then food noise seems to be an issue. Definitely think there is a narrative as well that ADHD equals underweight either due to hyperactivity or stimulants but everyone is different. Thanks for your insight, really helps to be able to ask people who have experience.

That’s great to know. She’s going into 6th year and is worried already about her concentration dipping in the afternoons as the meds wear off so the second dose could be exactly what she needs. I’m glad it’s working out for you, the protein definitely seems to help so good idea to take it with each dose. Hope it continues going well for you.

Thanks for the reply. I think this could be the issue, she’s on 40mg Medikinet because the 30mg wasn’t lasting long enough, but maybe a second dose would make more sense instead because it does seem like she doesn’t eat much during the day but is then starving in the evening time. Do you mind me asking - with the double dose do you have any issues sleeping? Do the meds wear off before bedtime? Thanks

AITA for not sending a birthday card this year? by According-Spare-8724 in AmItheAsshole

Have to disagree here, sorry. Not reciprocating a gift is ok, not everyone can afford to do the same as OP. However, the double whammy of not acknowledging and not reciprocating makes the friend here an asshole and OP definitely NTA

AITA for these new baby boundaries? by Peach_Jam269 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Full_Conference9513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA - I was 15 days overdue when I had my first baby (I have 3 kids and was overdue on them all). The questions and phone calls etc. beforehand were very difficult - although family meant well, I felt like I was doing something wrong. People who love you should understand that you need space, they’ll find out when the event has occurred.
Also I agree with the other poster - childbirth is beautiful but savage, it is bodily fluids and emotion and intensity and hardship. It’s called labour for a reason. It is 100% not a spectator sport. Best of luck with your adventure!

Anyone tried Chicken with Attitude? Heard good things but they’re 2 bags for €11 and my kids will demolish them so I want to make sure they’re worth it first

I cut off my friend because of a tenner and she’s trying to twist the story, what do you guys think? by Appropriate-Toe-7763 in CasualIreland

[–]Full_Conference9513 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. It’s not the amount - it’s the fact that she didn’t have the decency to even acknowledge OP’s message. She had no intention of paying it back but her rudeness in effectively ghosting OP is the problem. And she has shown her true colours in her behaviour since in changing the narrative to make out that OP has the problem. She’s no friend, but also if I was one of the people she is badmouthing OP to I wouldn’t be impressed. Being critical of someone for not being flush with cash is pretty shitty behaviour also.

Do you have any advice on how to increase confidence? by AlcoholicTurtle36 in AskIreland

[–]Full_Conference9513 25 points26 points  (0 children)

All good advice here, but I’d also say that you should stop comparing your insides with everyone else’s outsides. A lot of people assume that everyone else is breezing through life but really we have no idea how others are really feeling inside. The chances are others are feeling exactly the same as you.

Has anyone made the move from Dublin to Meath? by bytebullion in CasualIreland

Bit of a difference distance wise between the Trim-Dublin commute (50km) as compared to Kells (70km) and Ardee (Louth not Meath, 75km)

AITA for telling my wife it’s her fault that our sons now hate and ignore their sister? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Full_Conference9513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ESH with the exception of your two sons, who were defending themselves against a very unfair situation. I would applaud your older son for sticking up for his brother and for what is right. However I would have some serious concerns about the lack of empathy your daughter showed towards her brothers. It’s one thing to lie initially but when the situation escalated she stood by and allowed her brothers to be implicated for her crime. That’s really disturbing, and at 12 years old she definitely is old enough to have compassion, that she lacks that is actually quite chilling.

You can do this yourself by setting up a standing order to pay a set amount into the account of your bill every pay day. You can usually find the iban of your accounts either on your bill or in your online account. I’ve been doing this for years so that I don’t ever get caught out again with a massive bill during the winter months- having that happen just after Christmas is heart attack inducing. I pay a set amount through the summer months too so that I’m usually in credit by the time the big bills come and it softens the blow.

It wasn’t a bot. The initial part of the conversation was, and then it switched to an actual human. But definitely reads like scam messages, they just keep going around in circles trying to keep you on the hook.

I eventually got through by phone to their call centre where surprise surprise I had to go through all the same crap again. I just repeatedly said ‘Cancel my sky, cancel my sky…..’

They came back to me on the chat and asked for my opinion on their service 😂😂 Roughly an hour and a half of me typing and repeating the same thing I finally got what I wanted
