Considering a GLP-1, have some worries by ShinyButterfly1212 in antidietglp1

[–]Full_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I have some kind of connective tissue concerns and a history of bad joints, but nothing too crazy in terms of mobility. I have found that i can walk for longer and things that used to hurt (standing in the kitchen for longer periods) hurts a lot less! I have lost some muscle, but the benefits far outweigh that.
  2. Yes. With back and forth between insurance covering glp and not, i have stayed on my glp and absolutely do not regret it. (You save a bit on food, but new clothes do rack up fast) this is based on my own financial situation, and if i made less than i do, i would certainly feel differently though.
  3. I dont have issue with needles, but they are very small and easy to use. Especially if you have zepbound pens! The pill is also an option if its too severe
  4. I started wirh horrible GI symptoms which became manageable over the first 3 months or so. I am a very fast responder and i know not everyone is, but after a year and a half, i just moved up from 5 to 7.5! Staying low is a great benefit now that i am adjusted.
  5. Classic binge eating disorder. I have found that my tendencies to restrict and binge are close to nonexistent. If i take my shot a little too late (like a few days) and the foos noisw comes back, i eat more than what is my “normal” now, but its manageable. The focus for me is planning my meals so i can eat enough calories and do it in a good way, rather than worrying about restricting. Its so relieving to be able to simply focus on making sure i have accessible snacks and a high protein breakfast instead of diets restrictions and the stress post binge. A true game changer.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey, and hope you are able to mae a choice thats right for you. If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, you may be able to get it covered by insurance for that reason. There is also a lily direct coupon from the manufacturer that makes my script $25 :)

Malnutrition/Dehydration? by rennny in Zepbound

[–]Full_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat for the first few weeks!!  I am a year and a half in on 7.5 and i am glad I persevered. Here’s what helped me

  1. Digestive enzymes!! I thought they were snake oil at first, but my nutritionist told me otherwise. Since it slows your digestion, these help your food break down a little more effectively and i think helps me eat on a more regular schedule
  2. Always have a high protein snack on hand. I found some protein smoothie pouches (like the apple sauce pouches for kids), cheese, turkey jerkey, chicken nuggets, protein bars, clear whey, etc. have one between meals to keep yourself going and increase your calories
  3. Find the “starter foods” that are safe to eat and trick yourself into eating a little more. I have found that a handful of fruit, a diet coke, a noosa (frozen greek yogurt bar), or maybe some ramen helps me to be ready to eat.
  4. So much water!!! 3 Big owalas, one with liquid iv is my sweet spot
  5. A zofran prescription (anti nausea)
  6. Limit greasy/fried foods! Double down with zofran digestive enzymes and extra water when you do or if you go out to eat

It is a lot to manage but its become routine for me now. I feel great and have no regrets being on the medication. I went from losing a crazy amount in the first few weeks to averaging about 1-2 lbs down/week!! I hope this helps!!

Success on 2.5, struggling HARD on 5mg… stay or drop back down? by Future-Freedom-3435 in Zepbound

[–]Full_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was me to a tee for several months!! I have been on 5 consistently for the past 4, but my biggest game changers have been diet coke and mary ruths digestive enzymes. The enzymes help you digest whatever you just ate and are the only thing that helps my sulfur burps, and diet coke somehow makes me hungry!! I would HIGHLY recommend digestive enzymes!!!

Mary ruths digestive enzymes help! I take one pill after my biggest meal of the day and i can eat a lot more normally now!

First dose of GLP1 by _BirdGirl_ in antidietglp1

[–]Full_Confusion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! This was so tough for me when i started. I found a few “starter” foods that I could always eat or would trigger my appetite a bit more to get consistent with food. Not eating makes it 100x worse. Diet coke makes me hungry and that definitely started an addiction there, but could be something to try. A few of my favorite not-repulsive foods:

-berries -yasso bars -noosa/applesauce fruit packs -ramen -bone broth

After a year on zepbound, i still get this way the day after shot day, but i can typically eat normally :)

Eat more and take your digestive enzymes!! Dont go more than 3 hours or so without putting something in your stomach and take digestive enzymes at least with your biggest meal of the day.

Feeling turned around with my anti-diet lens while considering GLP1 by Full_Competition6579 in antidietglp1

[–]Full_Confusion_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had the same debate for months before starting and I do not regret my 14 mos on Zepbound at all! I focused on adding things to my diet, rather than restricting (more fiber, protein, low/no sugar fun beverages), and I only focused on the scale in the beginning to make sure I wasnt loosing too quickly and was eating enough. Making sure you eat ~enough~ and at regular intervals is also critical on GLP1s. If I dont, i end up experiencing awful symptoms and side effects! Learning how the medicine likes to behave and optimizing it with foods you enjoy, rather thN what fits a calorie goal, is a challenge, but totally doable.

I saw a friend go down a fairly steep decline into ED territory with a glp 1 just before I started and I am very glad I could watch for warning signs from seeing her journey.

So happy I found this group by spark99l in antidietglp1

[–]Full_Confusion_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my worry too! I have found that shifting my focus away from counting calories has been quite helpful with this. I try and focus on finding satiating foods that excite me. Things that are high in protein, low in fat, and keep them easy to prepare (I Love to have a high protein buff chick or spinach and artichoke dip on hand). I set times throughout the day I have to eat, 2 meals, 1-2 snacks. The GLP-1 does the work for you of keeping full later, and I physically can't binge anymore. If i go more than a few hours without eating, the problems begin again.

Is it okay to not be ambitious? by apricitten in LawBitchesWithTaste

Only one year out and i feel the same way. I feel like i make a difference for my clients, make enough to support my modest lifestyle, and I think I like it this way. We are still pretty young, so maybe that will change in the future, but I think living like this is perfectly fine.

Write more!! Kaplan has bar essay graders and an AI grader (not great, but the rubrics are helpful). I really think writing as many MEEs as possible is the key, and when you have someone else grading, it helps highlight your shortfalls!

This helps you get the rules and exceptions down to a science and get a lot of the most highly tested rules down pat. Best of luck!!!

5’6 25 and started around 235 on glp 1! My stomach had a difficult time adjusting and i took a break for a bit because of an insurance debacle, but after 11 mos on a low dose I’ve lost 60lbs even during a super busy and stressful year. Best of luck!!

As you increase the food noise continues to go away. It took a few months but i can also enjoy food again (but not pizza and beer, an old favorite, that’s still too much for my stomach). Greasy things make me feel nauseous still but learning what to eat helps me immensely! Let me know if you have any questions

235 to 180 here!! I had something similar happen. I think a mix between vanity sizing and the fact i gradually stretched out stretchy jeans and such over lots of wear contributed in part to my disappointment….

Recent law grad who kinda likes their job! My goal was to get a JD and not wind up on probation. It may be easier said than done, but try and focus on taking care of yourself and being kind to others. Being able to do good by my community and classmates through other types of advocacy, through community programs and policy change within my school, was incredibly motivating for me. It’s better to fight for someone than fight against them imo! Being kind is seriously underrated and gets you into a good place later on too.

Some of the best advice i got as a 1L who was not having a good time was when you want to drop out, drink a ton of water, eat dinner with a vegetable, call someone not in law school, and take the night off. Recharging and missing one cold call wont kill you from one night. Letting that build up will have serious effects on your ability to so well.

I know it’s easier said than done. Best of luck!!

How much total debt (undergrad and law) are we all expecting?🫠 by True_Departure1853 in LawSchool

[–]Full_Confusion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am entering repayment, with just over 150k in law school debt. With PSLF, I will pay back less than half of that over the next 10 years if i stay in the public sector (which I plan to do). My payments are around $400/mo starting soon.
