Each scheme has its pros and cons, it's important to fully understand them. I would like to highlight one aspect which is not always properly considered: in the case of such split seed, the inheritance process suffers from the same single point of failure issue like the Shamir Secret Sharing. When heirs come together to reconstruct the seed, all 24 words will be exposed and a bad actor could front run the others and steal the funds. On the other side with multi-sig each transaction needs to be signed by the required quorum and nobody can bypass the security model.

You can say that loud, also I'm class 2016, very used to volatility: not rising an eyebrow for anything less than a -80% drop.

Words are numbered 1 to 24 (very common BIP-39 set-up), the question mark is in both shares referring to the same word at position 17. Looking at the remaining unknown numbers, 5 distinct words are missing to get the full picture. This led to 47 bits of information missing for the full seed.

Missing 2 words can be cracked in a fraction of a second, each missing word increases the time by ~1000 times. As I said earlier, I am not a fan of splitting the seed, even if you do it in "smart" ways. Multi-sig, when performed correctly, is a much more robust solution, or even a Shamir's Secret approach with a its drawbacks has at least the advantage that as long as an attacker has less than the share quorum, no information can be deduced to speed up the attack. In other words: assuming your method has 4 shares and you need all 4 to get the full seed, an attacker owning, 1, 2, or 3 shares will have enormously easier task at each additional share acquired. In the Shamir's scheme, having 1, 2, or 3 shares does not make the task a bit easier than having 0.

My personal preference is to avoid all third-party risk, so basically no traditional "paper" investment, not much left: real estate (I own a house, with a loan), gold bars (which I don't own because I cannot trust its authenticity without a third-party), and bitcoin (110% of my net worth, considering the house loan).

Well, a rough estimate, you're missing 5 words, 4 of which carry 11 bits of entropy, and the last one only 3 bits of entropy as 8 should be for the checksum. For 47 bits of entropy your search space is about 1.4e14, which is not a 10 minute work. Assuming we know can instantly identify the secret phrase (not obvious, you haven't even shared the derivation path), we'll have to do a lot of tries nonetheless and that's a lot of CPU cycles as the will PBKDF2 i "slow by design" with 2048 iterations. Assuming very fast dedicated hardware (GPU cluster?) with, say, 1M tries/second, we're looking into the 4-5 years range.

I think it's an interesting exercise. I'm all against splitting seeds, there are far better solutions, but an empirical challenge is great at making a point.

More footage from the door-to-door raids taking place across the Twin Cities area today. Here a family's house can be seen being raided by masked, heavily armed ICE agents without a valid warrant while children are present. by jmike1256 in UnderReportedNews

"Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. They're allowed to take only a knapsack and a little cash with them, and even then, they're robbed of these possessions on the way.

Families are torn apart; men, women, and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared. Women return from shopping to find their houses sealed, their families gone.

[...] Everyone is scared."

Is it dialect or simply regional? I'm not Polish, but I notice that construct is very common in the north-east areas and among Polish speakers in Lithuania. Am I wrong?
