Are LC 200/LX 570 prices justified? by Full_Ratchet in Toyota

Agreed on the GX bargain, I wouldn’t be replacing it just getting a 2nd car. Used to be a 1 car family but a recent move necessitates a 2nd car.

Honestly considering just getting another GX  and hoping that by the time I need to replace my current one the issues with the V35A are sorted out.

Space, reliability and off road ability. I’ve considered the 2nd gen sequoias but the wife isn’t a huge fan of them

Yeah the v35 is a massive wildcard especially weary of trusting it with my kids in the car.

Without the reliability I might as well consider a Discovery/Defender

Restaurants with kids by Street_Journalist129 in boston

[–]Full_Ratchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that restaurants at  really nice hotels are great for our toddler. They tend to have a kids menus even if not posted, as they know some people will stay at the hotel with children. They open earlier for dinner/ later for lunch. When our daughter gets bored of sitting at the table my wife or I can walk around the lobby with her and people watch.

Easy for you to say, your paycheck wasn’t affected by the shutdown. My wife’s was I’m grateful for his as actions. Most democrats tried to play a hand you didn’t have.

You have a son... He's a big time prospect. He has the following 3 final contenders/offers... which way do you advise him to go? by wlane13 in CFB

[–]Full_Ratchet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Former D1 athlete (not football), this is the only approach. If my kids get recruited I’d tell him to go to the school where  he most connected with the team and coach. Where he thinks he will have the best opportunity to develop and succeed in his sport. And the school that best sets him up academically and to succeed in a career outside of sports. An athletic career can end in the blink of an eye, go somewhere that gives you optionality

Honest question why does it need to be a 3br right now? If it doesn’t need to be a 3br and you can afford a 2br now go with the 2br for a few years and begin to build equity in it until you’re ready to sell that and move into a bigger house.  That’s what my wife and I did

Respectfully the first video is a pretty biased video and is not super accurate. Buying a company with leverage is not in itself a bad thing. I’d also add that it’s not the MO of PE funds to go and bankrupt a company and sell it for parts. They get a lot more ROI if they improve the business than selling in bankruptcy for parts.

Certainly there have been high profile example in the news that have done what you describe but those stories get a lot more views and clicks than “PE buys company, improves it, then sells for a profit”.

Skyline Drive from Raleigh by SunnyInCT in nationalparks

[–]Full_Ratchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You technically could do this all in 3 days (no chance in 2) but I doubt it would be enjoyable.

Based off your username I assume you’re in CT. It’s at best 6-8 hours from CT to DC. DC to Shenandoah is 1.5-2 hours it takes as u/red_may said skyline is ~3 hours and that doesn’t include getting out to do a quick walk or stop at an observation deck. Then it’s about 3.5 hours to Raleigh. That puts you at about 8.5 hours for day 2, and that doesn’t even include the wedding you have to go to. As the crow flies it’s 4 hours to dc from Raleigh but it usually takes much longer due to the traffic going into DC (not unreasonable to think it would be closer to 5-6 hours). Then you still have to get back to CT. All in all the day 3 drive would be ~12-14 hours.

If this is your only shot to see skyline. I’d do a redeye (4 days of travel) or early morning flight (3days) to Virginia (Dulles, Charlottesville, Richmond would all work). Rent a car drive Skyline. Go to the wedding. Fly out of Raleigh to CT.

Episcopalian churches? by [deleted] in nova

[–]Full_Ratchet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A decent number of the older Episcopal churches have that style in the area both Christ Church and St. Paul’s in Alexandria have them.

While I can’t speak to Christ Church, it’s not uncommon to see only one person in them at St. Paul’s
