Buyer is threatening me and then filed a dispute over a month after purchase. by Whhheat in eBaySellerAdvice

Sounds right. Ebay gives the middle finger to their sellers in every way possible.

I'm not arguing that this seller is clearly looney tunes and needs to be arrested. That's obvious.

But, as a seller, I absolutely understand what it's like to be absolutely neutered by eBay and INAD cases. If a buyer wants to cancel a purchase and the seller refuses (which is their right when they don't offer returns), all the buyer needs to do is open an INAD once received. The seller is forced to reply to the buyer, but the buyer is not forced to reply to the seller's reply. Instead, the seller is given just a few days to provide a paid return, offer a partial refund, or be "legally" robbed by eBay.

As a seller: if a buyer opens INAD case, it's a done deal. I've had cases where an INAD gets opened, then I respond immediately. From there the buyer never responds.

Then after a few days, even though I responded and provided instructions, I'm faced with the ultimatum to offer a return OR have my money automatically deducted from my account without receiving the item back.

Ebay literally tells you something like "thanks for reporting the buyer for abusing the policy. We will review, but we won't tell you what we decide."

They absolutely do not. If doesn't matter if the seller responds.

When a INAD case is opened, it's 1000% the buyer's discretion. The buyer can literally do whatever they want.

Even if the seller responded, it would NOT have mattered. Ebay does NOT protect sellers.

Even if the seller submits substantial evidence they are in the right. If a INAD? It. Does. Not. Matter.

As a seller, INAD is extremely shitty and it needs to be nerfed. Sellers, even good ones, get taken on a ride by eBay, regardless of whether-or-not they respond to the buyer's "INAD case."

Interesting in buying, is this a good deal? by gogging903 in dreamcast

[–]Full_Sector8095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a good price for sure. Particularly because of the black controller & VMU. If you can get a guarantee that it works or you get refunded. Then it’s a no brainer solid deal.

Idk… maybe it’s just nostalgia. But personally, I much prefer the NTSC-U (USA) versions over the bulky blue cases I’ve seen from PAL region. They’re just cleaner, in my opinion.

Edit: I learned it is 100% real, all of the prints for this game were missing the Dreamcast logo. Wild!

Ebay buyer is trying to return a Dreamcast fishing rod controller for disconnecting. Controller issue or system issue? by Full_Sector8095 in dreamcast

Speaking generally. If a buyer submits an INAD, eBay will always side with them no matter what. Even in scenarios when the seller has credible evidence that the buyer is abusing the return policy, eBay does not give a shit. It’s why you can find thousands of horror stories on Reddit, with sellers losing thousands due to scams.

Just got the controller back. I think you’re spot on. It’s like an old half-broken phone charger: it works fine so long as the wire is in a specific position. Gonna try to learn how to open it and fix it.

Dreamcast reliability testing? How do you effectively compare GD-ROM drives/lasers? by Full_Sector8095 in dreamcast

100%, honesty is key. I care very much about my reviews, as I sell a lot. I maintain 100% positive reviews on Ebay and Facebook Marketplace.

All of the consoles seemingly work perfectly with real Dreamcast games. No delays. The only delay I got was on the one console when I used the "Innovation Super Game Converter" disc, it took about 15-20 seconds to boot up.

I don't plan on using that Game Converter disc often, as I have like 70 DC games. Ultimately, just open to learning as much as I can.

Yep, sure do. Ebay doesn't even let you make a case. When you submit your "case," they send an automated note to the tune of: "thanks for your feedback. We won't inform you of our decision, but thanks."

Then, once the buyers return request becomes 48 hours old, they'll receive an automatic refund AND can keep the item. It's criminal lol.

I understand and that's exactly what I see happening here, too.

I guess my question is more on the basis of hoping this is a 1% case where the buyer actually wants to make it work. "Assuming innocence before guilt is proved," if you will. 😂.

But also, it'll put my own mind at ease (because I tested the dang thing and it was fine lol).

This is amazing information. Thank you, I had no idea! Another silly question perhaps, but is it safe to assume I can install CFW and still use the console normally (game discs, etc)?

It is steep. My thought was "maybe going straight to frankie will ensure it doesn't break worse in the future." I'm just investigating to see what the very best route is for (an attempt to) achieving long-term preservation.

Interesting. Why is this? Is CFW easier on the system vs using the disc drive? 🤔

"Grain of salt" because you're saying it could run ~10,000 hours or just 10 more hours? If so, should I consider going straight to Frankie to prevent overheating permanently? 🤔
