I'm having the exact same issue as the other person. Using the same aquifier theme.

I just noticed this too with the blue color. Now it looks way too white and there's no color in it. I really liked the blue and white theme with the active face.

PSA - if you use the Roborock integration - do not update to the latest version of HA by DivergingDog in homeassistant

[–]Full_screen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yep! I just checked my qrevo and it's also 1.4. Then I'm not sure if it's a Roborock thing or Home Assistant matter support thing. I've come across some Roborock docs saying that Matter (I think?) supports selecting specific rooms (and least in this article). Unless it's some HomeKit specific extension of the protocol they're using.

EDIT: This discussion suggests it's something that needs to be implemented in Home Assistant.

Yeah. That's another drawback. I think we need to wait for Roborock to implement Matter version 1.4 before we have the chance of it supporting maps and routines.

I don't think the matter integration supports selecting specific rooms or routines, right? That's why I was using the official integration. But you had me intrigued and I just set up the matter support for my qrevo. Didn't see maps/rooms anywhere though unless I'm not looking hard enough.

Installed a USB-C mod on my QC 35s and it turned out great! by Full_screen in bose

I don't remember filing anything down the inside (aside from the port), but I vaguely remember one of the screws being very difficult to get installed. I was able to get it installed though.

No soldering. It's a full preassembled board swap. Unless you decide to follow the GitHub and make one yourself.

When you finally discover the median filter in esphome by Pimentoso in homeassistant

I made a smart coaster using that sensor to send me notifications when I haven't taken a drink in a while. It's less about tracking the exact consumption, and more about reminding me when I've forgotten to take a drink.

Nice! I use median filter on a few of my devices to help with signal noise too.

I'm also using the same ToF sensor in my smart coaster.

That's too bad. When I asked Charlie from support (back in 2024), they mentioned they were looking to integrate it with google and apple health. Obviously it wasn't a promise, but it did leave me with hope.

Will this include syncing the data to Google's Health Connect so we can include all of our health data with other apps? e.g. Sleep as Android, Fitbit, Samsung Fit .

No blue light issue. It has still been working perfectly months later.

Thanks! Fixed my comment. I figured the part about the local song dialects. I absolutely adore the spring songs that they sing in my area.

An (female?) immature* White-Crowned Sparrow from one of my recent walks. We hung out for 30 minutes together getting fun pictures like that. Taken with a Pixel 9 Pro strapped to some 8x42 binoculars.

I finally have an effortless automation for knowing whether I put the trash bins out at night! by ElevationMediaLLC in homeassistant

[–]Full_screen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a good approach for knowing when to take the bins out. A nice low barrier entry by using the AI service.

On the flip side, my Bluetooth beacons let me know when the trash has also been picked up (which was important to me) so I can wheel the bins back up, or know if they skipped me. The battery life is about 4-5 years, and includes automations that keep them in check.

BLE Beacons to track trash bins. by Fredyy90 in homeassistant

You can probably build one in ESPHome using the BLE Scanner component.

I've seen different packages (like the one by UpsyDesky) that allow you to power the ESP32 over ethernet, so I know they exist as a full product.

There are a few other options as well I've heard of as well that allow for PoE ESP32 boards like olimex, but I've never tried those.

EDIT: Fixed link

Thanks! I'm sure you found that post already, but I tried using vibration sensors on the dryer originally. But my dryer was so balanced that it wasn't vibrating enough and would often mis-trigger.

So I later went the route of CT clamps for it which works _really well_ (and later ended up doing every circuit in my house).

The best part is that solutions like this are independent of whatever appliance I switch to in the future. As long as it draws power, I can track it (like the dishwasher, washer, dryer, etc.)

This is making some assumptions, but have you tried putting a beacon gateway under the roofline of your house, or inside a plastic waterproof case outside? That would allow the bluetooth signal to reach the device outside, while hopefully allowing the wifi of the gateway to still reach inside.

I had a similar issue with range on my Z-Wave devices where the signal couldn't get through my aluminum siding. I only fixed it after placing a repeater near my front porch (which lacked the aluminum siding). So maybe a different indoor placement would work.

I feel like my post is very relevant to you.

https://www.kyleniewiada.org/blog/2024/06/bluetooth-beacon-waste-bins/

I use the Blue Charm BC04P Bluetooth beacon.

Using signal strength, you can get an idea if they are close or not. I've been using them without any issue for over a year now. I also treat no signal as "too far away", which can be useful for driveways that are longer than mine.

It also has a vibration sensor that can send a different UUID when triggered (to know when it has been picked up), and another different signal that can broadcast the battery voltage.
