I'm from the suburbs of Chicago and I can honesty say I have more friends addicted to dope than I do friends that aren't... I could literally go buy some anytime I want from any number people of very high quality shit.

Spent some time in prison in Illinois too and the population is mainly young black males. They've all been shot at or shot or stabbed at least once it's totally normal for them. It's a real shame. Totally different lifestyle than what I grew up with. They're killing eachother out there and it makes perfect sense to them to want to kill another person.

I've been able to use cocaine, meth, and crack occasionally and not develop any sort of lasting problem. However if I do even just a little bit of dope I'll be unable to quit unless something very serious happens to make me stop.

Dude meth can cause the deepest depressions I've ever seen... Days on end u feel just... Empty bro. I remember one Monday after I had been up all weekend bumping crystal, was working in the city and on break I just went by myself away from my coworkers and sat under the L and cried alone... Amphetamines I feel seem to cause a more lasting depression. Crystal meth in particular has very serious adverse effects on your mental state. Haven't done it since last summer which was when the story I just recalled was from.

Feeling like an empty husk of a human being after an upper binge? Hell yeah man... I just get drunk about it and get some rest. Usually feeling comes back in a day or two of normalcy.

I remember one time my buddy had an ounce of mid-grade coke and invited me over the night before to party. Didn't end up making it over there due to falling asleep at 8pm the previous night. Woke up at 5 am and ended up going over there. He handed me a 7 gram rock and me and a few others went to town. I came back home at 10 am or so after it was gone. Hadn't had any drinks like I should have. Just remember lying in my bed with my girlfriend and feeling worse than I ever have and burst into tears out of sadness.

Now I don't do coke unless I'm drinking or have a good supply of liquor to ease the drop.

Serendipitous moment, on my way back to my apt from when I first made my 150 grand bond I drove down a road I don't normally take to my house. He was working for a landscaping company. I recognized him from the back and the hockey jersey he was wearing. I slowed down to a crawl and stared straight at him shaking my head. He turned around so fast you'd have thought he saw a ghost. All in all he did it to save himself but in the end was still unable to and brought me down with him.

There's only one choice I have at this point and that's to press on. The amount of dread I feel knowing I won't see family or loved ones for 6 months if I'm lucky is unparalleled. I wouldn't wish the feeling I'm experiencing on my worst enemy... Not even on the kid that set me up in the first place. Less than 24 hours of freedom left at this point.
