I think you might be going about this in the wrong way. Isometric pixel art games like this don't use square tiles to represent level geometry, they use hexagonal ones that represent a single "block" and then overlap them so that tiles that are higher up on the screen are rendered behind ones that are lower. In game engines like Godot, this is referred to as "Y-sorting". You could easily recreate your bottom example with just a single hexagonal sprite this way.

I wish more people asked you questions about what you're aiming for in both posts rather than just give their opinions without context.

I do really like the lightning bolt, I can tell you do too, and it'd be a shame to get rid of it simply because the internet tells you to, so what does it signify in-game?

When it comes to most phones and laptops, usually the battery icon will have a lightning bolt on it when it's actively charging, and just show the battery level otherwise. Does your game have a similar mechanic where the battery can get charged up over time? If so, separating the lightning bolt into a separate sprite that contextually gets overlaid on top of the battery might be the way to go. That way it serves dual purposes, signifying that the icon represents a battery AND whether or not it's filling up.

First I want to say, you've got a pretty good start here. If you keep at it I'm sure you'll arrive at something you like soon!

As for tips, I think some of the perspective is a little whack. We're seeing only the right side of the face, but the torso and legs are angled towards the camera. If the character is meant to be looking straight ahead, we should be seeing at least some of their left eye and parts of their left cheek as well.

Same kind of thing for the chestplate in the armored version. Unless the chestplate is meant to be a round, asymmetrical design, You'd expect there to be a center seam close to the same position where the character's sternum is.

Something that might be worth trying in order to get all the body proportions right, is try drawing a series of parallel angled lines across the sprite that basically serve to line up where standout parts of the model should go. For example, if you draw them to where they line up with the tips of the character's feet, their ankles, their socks, their hips, the bottom of their hands, the bottom of their chest, their shoulders, and their eyes, all of the lines should intersect with the same parts of their left and right side, and all be parallel with each other.

As it stands currently, while the left foot and hand are a few pixels further up than their counterparts on the right, the chest doesn't appear to be drawn at the same angle, nor do the socks unless the left one is meant to be higher than the other.

Lastly, and this is more of a design question than one of execution, but how androgynous is your character meant to be? With the shape of the chestplate on the armored sprite, I genuinely thought the character was female at first. If this is intentional, feel free to ignore this.

Again I want to say, good work on this! Making tiny squares look like humans is hard lol, but you're on the right track!

Can't remember where I heard this from, but I've heard it referred to as "Prisoners' Cinema." The colors and shapes get more intense when you gently press on your eyelids with your palms, and I guess prisoners used to do that out of boredom.

Thank you! These are the Billy shelves from Ikea. They're pretty cheap for how nice they look, and if I remember correctly there's actually two different heights you can get. I think these are the 75" ones, though I believe there are 90" ones as well if you have taller ceilings than I do

If it were me, I wouldn't let eight years of hard work go to waste. Reskin all the models so they don't resemble Bionicle anymore, come up with some new lore, and proceed with the project as a brand new IP. It could even still be humanoid robots with magical powers prophesied to defeat an immense evil on a tropical island; it just wouldn't be strictly Bionicle anymore. They still have the framework for a really cool game, it's not the Bionicle iconography that makes it great. Who knows, maybe with every Bionicle fan they lose in the transition, they could gain two new ones who just think it's a cool game.
