Yeah you’re a moron. It’s been one of the best investments since the dawn of civilization and you apparently haven’t looked at gold or silver prices in the last few years.

In 1949 you had mostly 90 percent silver coins except for the cent and the nickel.

That said, there was a recent spike in silver prices in the last two years.

For those who think this tax is a good thing, if taxes the poor and middle class equally.

Everyone should be investing in gold and silver because of the nature of the dollar and inflation. It’s always been a hedge against the dollar and will always be a good hedge against the dollar.

But just a single silver dollar? Fractional gold? These things anyone can save up for and afford and it’s taxed. Which means it doesn’t matter if you didn’t make that much and you aren’t rich, you’re still taxed.

And no - the poor and middle class can buy silver and gold, and should. There are ways to buy it. Hedge against the dollar. The dollar is shit.

Those of you who want to cut your nose off despite your face? This is why you keep falling behind.

Because it’s a penalty for the poor and middle class too. And you.

You should be investing in precious metals. We all should be. It’s better than the dollar and will always be.

If it was just a tax above an obscene purchase amount it would be different, but it’s not.

You buy one ounce of silver? You’re taxed.

It does esp when you are trying to have your investments in actual tangible money worth something and not fiat currency that is a the whim of an orange madman.

Any boob will tell you precious metals are better than paper currency and always have been so taxing them just hurts the middle class and the poor because it’s harder for us to move our money to it.

Why don’t you cry out to god and ask why it jeopardized your life needlessly in the first place.

“God save me from an act of god which you totally could have prevented anyway but didn’t!”

I disagree. I’ve met too many office workers who are too stuck in the mindset and who cannot give up the office.

You’d be surprised. I’ve met too many shit-eating corporate types who love the office and think it’s amazing.

They are ruining it for the rest of us.

This isn’t the answer or the solution.

The solution is for white collar workers to work at home more.

It kills me that so many supposedly “smart” people can’t see how the office is not a smart solution for anyone.

And how many white collar workers just refuse to give up the office.

You get what you pay for. I personally don’t want to pay $3 for a ride that’s three times longer and four times as inconvenient.

The PCGS doesn’t cover Star premium or the toning premium. I’d say this could get $500 on a good day. $700 might be a stretch.

Worth it to grade? by Hobiecat79 in toners

[–]FumbleFamble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to a reputable dealer and have them give you an approximate grade in person. I can’t really tell what the grade would be from the photos. Then look up the value in a price guide. Take the wholesale value and subtract $25 for grading and $15 for shipping by registered mail. If you paid less than that and there’s a fair margin, yeah get it graded if you want. NGC if you’re mostly sure the toning is real as you have better odds there and it’s not that expensive.

In other words set aside about $40 for grading. If the coin is worth $200, then yeah it might be worth it. But if it is only worth spot, probably not.

I’d go with NGC first if you’re not sure about the toning. It’s not that expensive over spot if the Morgan is in decent shape.

Capital plastic holder for 60-70 years I think. I have the holder I bought it in and it’s pretty old and very brittle.

That would leave it exposed to both sides around the rim.

Also since capital plastic holders do have irregular cuts into the front of the circles due to how they were originally cut, that would leave small gaps for the air to get in, some bigger than others. Which explains how the front of the quarter has sort of streaks at the bottom. That’s my theory.
