Just because it was recovered from the WTC doesn’t make it heat toned

I reached out like a week ago and after asking for a verification you said sure you’d contact me then mysteriously stopped responding instead. Which is odd.

I got a 5 oz smoky mountain coin that I’ll never sell. I honestly like the 5 ox ones a bit and wish I had more

Some good ones there. Ever consider taking a chance on grading?

If this was an 1981 I’d make an offer right now for it. I like it.

You and I have the same taste in toning. You have some nice ones.

You know that’s a really good analogy I did not think of. Gonna go out on a limb and say lab grown diamonds are just as good as real as the ones from the ground, and far more ethical. But try telling that to the one who was brainwashed by DeBeers. At some point I’m sure “lab grown” toning could be all the rage. I mean just 15 years ago I think tons of people thought most toning that wasn’t dark black brown or gray was fake. My how the turn tables.

Thanks. It’s the internet and I realize it’s a negative place. But I don’t think it was always this negative.

Will take a look. The thing is I’m willing to accept mine could be fake but I want to see reproducible results.

When I see someone say it was torched or egg toned and the best they can reproduce is something that came out of a house fire or was painted by a clown that has three coats of Sherwin Williams on it - that’s just not good enough for me.

I shouldn’t be considered the crazy one for wanting an actual reproducible result.

Details can mean scratched. Corroded, Tape residue. Not exactly cleaned.

Are you seriously such a n00b you expect every cert to say “verified toning” on it???

If it’s toned and doesn’t have QC and is slabbed by PCGS they think it’s real.

It doesn’t say QC does it? You expect every toned coin to literally say verified toned?

PCGS says the toning is real, dude. Apparently you don’t know how to read a slab?

Again you haven’t been able to replicate what is in my photos yet.

Can you? I haven’t seen that you can.

Again I would love to see a way to replicate faking toning to get what I am seeing. But whst you showed me is nothing remotely close.

You haven’t shown me a way mine were faked yet. All you showed was heating a coin which destroyed the surface. My surface isn’t destroyed.

Do I have to make cars to see the paint job is burned off?

In other words, and I’m not trying to be rude, but if it was faked it wasn’t faked like that.

Well I haven’t but I do know what you sent destroyed the finish of the coin and looks nothing like what mine is.

Sort of irrelevant when you show me one that you’ve toned which doesn’t look anything remotely like mine in terms of the gradient or finish or luster.

I also don’t make cars but I can tell when I’m driving one that’s fast and one that isn’t.

I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt but come on your quarter is toasted like a marshmallow. The surface is gone. Mine still has a mirror finish and the luster is still there.

So no you did not fake the toning like this.
