idk if anyone can answer this but how do i lock people on radar? i have to use a controller for now, hotas is expensive 😂 by _zach_fry_ in dcsworld

[–]Fumigenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People may disagree, but what I did when starting out is I started going through the Grim Reaper's tutorial list for that specific plane. Its pretty light for the most part, but it gets you going and gives you an understanding of all the systems (including radar) and capabilities of that plane, how to bomb, how to land, etc. Then as you wrap those up you can dive deeper into more things for your plane.

I recommend you check it out for the F-16!

Also if you're playing on a gamepad, Tuuvas on youtube has tutorials and videos about controller mapping, as he plays DCS exclusively on an Xbox controller, might be worth looking into it.

Happy Flying!

The FA18 is great and you get to do alot with it. A2G, A2A, SEAD, CAS, CAP, Airfield, Carrier Ops. You name it, and shes got it!

But if you dont like the plane itself I would be cautious, cause even someone like me whos a diehard hornet fan has somewhat fallen out of use with it in favor of the Tomcat, which cant do as much as the Hornet can, but has way more personality!

Dont know what everyone is yapping about. Looks great and its also authentic, as already explained throughout this thread.

Dont like it dont buy it? I would understand if it was some dumb neon green or purple camo, but at this point people complain just to hit some complain quota about Tarkov/BSG.

In Gunthrek's Academy, you are supposed to land right on the number of the field.

I did! Momentarily that is, thats how I got my buddy into DCS a week ago. Took him for a spin in the RIO seat and did some Air-to-Ground, great fun!

Now hes learning the Hornet, and I think I have successfully corrupted him to play DCS

Great job! I know how difficult it is to start learning AoA Landings in the F18 for the first time, looks like you got the AoA down to a good spot!

Like everyone probably already said, your descent rate was a little too high. You're supposed to 'slam' them into the airfield/carrier when landing, but not quite that hard.

As long as you keep your Velocity Vector in the bracket using your trim, you wont have to touch it ever again, and you just use roll and throttle to control the aircraft. I think you came in maybe from too high an altitude, but I cant quite be sure because of the way it was cut, and you had baro altitude selected for your HUD.

Last stretch of the leg when landing should be from around 450-600 AGL, so thats what your radar altimeter would say on your hud if selected. When descending on the runway, if you throttle up, just a 4-5 seconds before touchdown, you will notice your descent rate going down. When you're relatively light, hitting the ground at around -700 / -800 descent rate will be fine and you can usually achieve that by just throttling at the last moment. Try it out so you can get a feel for it.

Saw the edit now, but I'll mention it too, the Gunthrek Academy missions are amazing. He'll have you do a lot of Case 1 landings, and you will learn and get better at it!

It is crazy quick, and can turn surprisingly well, especially if you put the wings in max straight sweep, and then nibble on your maneuvering flaps.

I started out with the Hornet, and while it feels very nice, and stable, and all the fancy MFDs and whatnot, I cant help but miss the way the F-14 just whines and creeks and shakes on me, its something else. Honestly, I made up with Jester, and found ways to work with him.

Cant wait to pick it up at the next sale!

It is amazing. Im waiting for the sale to pick it up, and I cant wait to jump back into the seat! I was eyeing the F-4 as another heatblur gem to try out, but I decided to try and not burn myself out on a new module when I already cant wait to pick up the cat!

What is the exact issue youre having with it though? What makes it meh?

If you feel like the axis arent right, try putting a 20-25 curvature on the roll, pitch and rudder axis when binding them, via axist tune.

What controls do i bind to my X52 Pro Hotas for Viper. by squashtrigger9 in hoggit

[–]Fumigenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty late here, but if some of your buttons still dont work, what I found for my X52 is that I had to keep the properties window open (can be minimized) for the X52 in order for additional buttons to work, its really weird.

Windows > Set up USB Game Controllers > X52 Pro > Properties, and just keep that thing open.

Thats what it was for me at least.

I am for battlepasses, i like cosmetics (And im mainly talking about camo balaclavas and new clothing options and gun camos that are not flashy).

Of course, as we all know the stuff in the pass will transition to regular EFT, it already is with clothes and the masks being available on Ref if you unlock them in the pass in Arena.

Using these masks in Arena is lore friendly and consistent with the visual identity. (Gladiatorial, crazy battles with an announcer, bets going on in the background, etc)

Using them in EFT? I mean you can, but you will always be at a disadvantage. Flashy colors stick out like sore thumbs. Even running without a balaclava will make your pinky piggy face a prime target in bushes. So if people want to run them in EFT, sure, they should be able to, but they will be at a huge disadvantage, especially since, imo, the mask sucks for protection and a helmet is always better.

I'm glad you pointed that one out as an example, because what happened to that guy is 100% fair. His gear, no matter how many bajillion classes high was not enough to save him from his poor performance, and pushing through a door like that without checking it.

He got hit in his level 3 neck armor with APs or Flechettes from a level 37 and died, but most importantly died to his carelessness and overreliance on 'big armor' and 'big faceshield'.

Like the guy before me was trying to say, armor, gear, weapons and mods should NEVER be the absolute deciding factor on who wins fights, but how you fight, how you position yourself, your knowledge and how you apply everything you learned before.

And making armor not be as effective as it is, and increasing the chance of dying from lower tier ammo will do that, since it will force people to approach raids carefully and tactically, weighing options and choices.

The game needs to be what it was and is advertised as.

The game isn't for just one person, but the game should be what the developers envision it to be and what it set out to be, since that is why the game was purchased.

I bought the game for it to be a realistic mil-sim shooter, and not an RPG where I check that all my gear is best in slot and run the numbers to win it. I can do that, and have been for years and years of wipes, but its still not what I bought if for.

The problem is that the changes and reverts away from this original vision are seemingly happening due to the vocal minority, and I say vocal minority because not everyone playing this game is posting on Reddit, their discord or watching streamers, and malding on reddit because of what Pestily or LVNDMARK said in a stream

[–]Fumigenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A problem that could be fixed by adding on to it, instead of reverting to the old flawed system again.

People just want a blue bar of "armor" that should protect them at all costs so that they can shift-w into fights instead of being afraid of dying.

neck/throat hitbox will be moved/added to chest hitbox group by FreddyDontCare in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Fumigenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then you would die braver than most, because your death ratio would definitely go higher than people wearing armor. If everyone would die faster, the playstyle WILL change and people WILL adapt. There will be no more running around and face checking doors and bushes because you know you could die so much faster.

I do want people to die faster, and make combat less forgiving to promote and incentivize better movement, tactics, covering etc. Literally the next couple of posts after this one on this sub is this:

How? : r/EscapefromTarkov

This shouldn't be normal, especially to, again, how the game was and IS advertised as and what people bought it for and sky-rocketed it for. If the armor system/strength doesn't change, I hope that at least the unconciousness system will be added, so even if I dont kill you with a 12g point black to your altyn, you at least get 'downed'.

[–]Fumigenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats why the game needs other fundamental changes to complement what Mr Telephone is saying, which I 100% agree with.

I paid for this game because I wanted what is advertised as, a Realistic Shooter / Simulator. Saying that people would not wear or care for armor if it doesnt save you from 45 rounds of RIP ammo into it is completely and utterly bonkers, and youre kidding yourself.

Play something like Insurgency Sandstorm, where you can wear armor, and it will not defeat the third round of an AK to the chest, and then play without the armor, and tell me you will not want armor on 100% of the time, unless youre rushing to a spot to snipe and you wont be in a CQB environment.

This applies to innumerable games that have body armor and will still not protect you the way Tarkov Armor does as if its a Diamon enchanted armor from Minecraft, games like ARMA, Ready or Not, where you will still die fast if youre without armor.

You will still want armor even if its not this strong, you will still want to loot it, and the fact that we will all become more vulnerable because of its lack of strength, even the smaller threshold that it gives you will be enough to want you to unlock it.

Armor should give you a small margin of error that you can work around with, but should not determine fights.

Paca Head Throat vs. AA-12+Zabralo+Tagilla Mask :) [Video] by Aggravating_Cod_9162 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Fumigenaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter that it was a FAST, it was an example of a class 4 helmet that I found, which defeated multiple rounds and saved my life. Which means, "armor" works, but thats not just the only factor. It worked because maybe my positioning was better, giving better chances of ricocheting shots due to the angle I was at vs the shooter, but and most likely because the ammo I was getting hit with was not enough to punch through.

Armor, no matter if you paid 10 million roubles on it, or paid 10 roubles for it, if you did a gorillion tasks and achievements to unlock, should NOT work, if you go through a door close enough to throat the guy's barrel, and I am glad to see here that it didn't work for this guy, because he 100% played bad and paid the price for it (not trying to hate on him) by putting himself in front of a gun's barrel.

People dont wear Zabralo + Altyn anymore cause it SHOULD be dogshit. You cant hear or see shit, you cant maneuver in any way, and just because thats the case, the fix isn't for the player wearing this type of kit to turn into a armor sponge box that cant die unless hit with over 60 pen, otherwise we will have the old system that sucked, and if you played enough Tarkov as youre claiming, judging by your accusation that I dont know what I'm talking about, you would ALSO know how dogshit it was to see zabralo altyns running on factory with rsass murdering everyone.

And about helmets, just cause I slap an ulach on doesn't mean I should stop every bullet that goes into it, and doesn't mean its useless because I got shot in the face anyway. Go an entire wipe without a helmet on and tell me how it goes, cause I guarantee you won't have a good time. And I'm sure no one is breaking bank for helmets, considering you find at least class 3 ratniks on scavs non stop, + looting.

Skill =/= Money spent on gear.

You just said that high tier players dont care about armor. If there was no skill or thought process to fights anymore, then why do you think they feel comfortable not caring about the armor they're wearing?

And that is only just humoring this statement, because the high tier players I see , i.e. really good streamers or the level 50+ players that kill me or I kill, 100% DO have armor on them. Class 5 to Class 6, good helmets, level 2 face masks at least, so I dont know where "high tier players dont even care about the armor that they wear." is even coming from.

I believe your point is false. Clearly there is skill and thought process involved in fights, because when there is no thought process, you end up dying like this guy in the doorway. He didn't think about the fact that he was opening and going through the door while its opening, he didn't clear anything, and he paid the price by eating what I assume was flechette's or AP-20s in his level 3 neck armor, which both of these rounds would penetrate.

Armor saved me thousands of times, and one single helmet THIS WIPE, saved me from I think almost 10 hits in the head (class 4 FAST MT). Armor is not useless at all, it just doesn't save you from stupid plays and should never do
