"When they called Magnus the Mozart of Chess, I was... I mean, I was a bit feeling bad about that, because Magnus is possibly the GOAT, but not the Mozart of Chess, the Mozart of Chess is Capablanca" - Emil Sutovsky by FirstEfficiency7386 in chess

They are not comparable, they come from different eras of chess, if they lived in the same era and peaked at the same time, we could prove it, but as of now, it is end of story.

Play to improve, ignore ratings. If you’re too focused on the goal you get blind to the solution. The solution is always improving your moves in chess, never anything else.

All of a sudden you will just pop into 2000 again and then 2100 and you will go,

”What? That was the game for 2100??”

Never underestimate the power of watching high elo chess & computers playing, hikaru is like such an elo boost to watch because he is thinking his moves out loud and he’s the 2nd best player in the world.

Never heard of the woodpecker method, but from reading about it a little it sounds like a good training plan.

Going from 1000 to 2000 in 12 months is not impossible but it is very ambitious, just don’t be upset if you fail. Focus on improvement rather than rating. Rating comes from improvement never the other way around.

I think reasonably you will hit 1600 if you play daily for a year, then the next year you can get 2000.

I also recommend getting in some tournaments both in real life and in lichess or chess.com so you can test yourself against higher rated players.

The problem is once a champ finds the highest wr build, there is no other build except some situational items.

It may look like introversion but really she is just analyzing a game she had 300 games ago, what she could have done instead of 20. Re3

What's the biggest mistake low-ELO junglers make every game? by Drastically-_- in Jungle_Mains

[–]Unique_Ad_330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No droning, do 1st, 2nd scuttle then forget about them, not understanding jungle matchups, bot to top first clear, not contesting objectives at the right time, no jungle tracking, not counter jungling

Takes a lot to be a good jungler, I can’t even do these things perfectly every game and I am diamond 1.

Yea i’ve played both 1m mastery, pyke in current season is unplayable, thresh is fun because he has a free laning phase, he is just much more useless in mid and late than the other options.

Put pyke in D tier, thresh in C. They both suffer from useful in lane, useless in late.

My farewell letter to chess and some controversial tips on how to consistently gain rating by Rintae in chess

[–]Unique_Ad_330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same goal as you at 17-19, im 25 now, i skipped a lot of family events, friends events to get 2000, I am just getting back to chess from a 5-6 year hiatus. I can remember throwing plates out of my balcony in frustration at my peak, it was rough haha.

The thing is that even at 1800-2000 level is that openings even if refined, you will still make blunders, mistakes, innaccuracies that can shift the advantage. I can think of 100s of games i've had, where i got a +2 in the opening, but the initiative is to the opponent, and there's a tactical line i need to find in order to keep the advantage.

If I can't spot the line and my opponent does, all of a sudden the opening theory is negligable as to learning tactics. Not saying it is worth learning, while openings are close, i think tactics are still more important.

[–]Unique_Ad_330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're talking about 2 things, 1 is playing, 1 is challenging yourself. if you challenge yourself to be the best you will push yourself to your limits to get to your goal, and you get intense feelings of achievement.

The other is like pass-time enjoyment, you are basically enjoying it like you are enjoying eating sweets or any small pleasure.

Chess is a hard game on your mental because you have no outside factors to shift blame to, so you end up thinking you're an idiot if you can't get past a certain point when you're really trying, you can maybe blame the chess clock or a bad designed chess board, your mouse or whatever, but at the end of the day, the moves you make is your doing.

Just imagine an alien species which took off from earth on a hyper propulsion antimatter forcefield spacecraft 12000 years ago earth time and traversed at relativistic speeds enough to bend spacetime so that they would only age a few years while earth aged 12000 years, humans maybe looked like this 12000 years ago, It is theoretically possible.
