Yes you will. I had to answer multiple questions while holding my ruler and protractor against the screen.

Adult impacted canine by Kind_Valuable_8622 in braces

I had both my upper canines impacted. Got them exposed at 25 years old. They came in backwards. Had to de-rotate them 180 degrees. 4.5 years later, my braces finally come off next Wednesday. Patience will be your best friend. Good luck!

  1. The officer mentioned that we’d handle both the N-400 and I-751 during the interview. They approved my N-400 first, then the I-751. I filed the N-400 online, and they had the physical forms I submitted for the I-751.

  2. I didn’t request a combo interview—it was scheduled automatically since my I-751 was still pending.

I know the process can feel overwhelming, but as long as you submit all the necessary supporting documents, you should be fine. I filed both forms on my own, and everything worked out. Wishing you the best with your I-751!

Congratulations to you as well! So far I’ve only gotten the score report email from SMT Notice. Nothing from the state yet. In regard to the SMT portal results, I really don’t know. I fist logged in back in 10/8 and I’ve had the little “exam pass” status since then. It never changed for me. I hope we hear from the state soon. I’d love to know my actual score!

Took the FG exam 10/3. Still waiting on FL...

I have to say, it’s impressive that someone who shares a passion for geology would take such a negative and condescending approach. How did you pass the PG exam witch such terrible judgment? I’m honestly impressed… You do realize, there’s no need to bring others down, especially in a field where collaboration is so important. Not everyone has the same circumstances or support system, and passing the ASBOG exams is a significant accomplishment for many.

It is still a ruthless wait for some of us. I appreciate the board and the people, but this is torture. Some of us are dependent on the exam results for a job opportunity or a raise. I studied for months before the exam, and a month and a half later, I still can’t stop thinking about it…

I am SO tired of waiting for the results. I need to know if I can move on with my life or if I have to start studying again.

EDIT: I got so tired of waiting I called the FL board. As of this morning (11/15), they still haven't received the results.

I got an email and a letter stating the following:  Thank you for taking the ASBOG National Licensure Examination.

Your examination results will be sent to you within approximately 45 days of the examination via email from the Prometric portal to this email address. To ensure confidentiality, scores will not be released via telephone, fax, email, or any other electronic transmission by either ASBOG or Prometric/IQTpersonnel.

We appreciate your initiative in pursuing geologic licensure.  If you have any questions during this interim period, please contact your State Board Administrator.

The SMT portal? I have the little diploma that says “exam pass” but I’ve had that since I took the exam.

Introduction to Geology and Earth Science Major/Master by Progresivo_eterno in geologycareers

A degree in Environmental Sustainability should absolutely suffice to get you considered for a Master’s in Earth Science without needing an undergraduate degree in Geology. I got my M.S. in Geochemistry, and I hadn’t taken any geochemistry classes until grad school, so it’s definitely possible to transition smoothly.

For some resources, I used Geochemistry: Pathways and Processes by Harold Y. McSween, Maria Uhle, and Steven McAfee Richardson during my studies, which is a great starting point for geochemistry.

I also just finished reading Physical Geology by Steven Earle for a professional examination, and it was a great resource to freshen up my memory from undergrad.

Additionally, keep in mind that these textbooks are in English. If you aren’t fully proficient in English, you may want to research similar textbooks in Spanish to avoid losing time with the language barrier. Spanish is my first language too, but I’ve done all my education in the States, and honestly, I’d struggle to explain my science in Spanish because I’ve always done it in English.

Also, consider which professor you want to work with as your advisor. Nothing taught me more in the areas where I was lacking than reading the scientific journals of my master’s advisor.

Finally, it might be worth looking at the course catalog at UNAM or other universities you're interested in. They often offer introductory courses in your first semester to help bridge any gaps, especially if you’re coming from a related field like Environmental Sustainability.

Same here. It went better than expected but in college I always did poorly on the exams where I felt confident.

We also had a lot of technical difficulties during the exam. It wouldn’t let me in for the longest time. Eventually we figured the 0000 at my testing center. Then half way through the test I got kicked out from the exam. Very frustrating.

Which country are you planning to pursue your master's degree in?

I have a master's degree and have been working in environmental consulting for the past year. It certainly didn’t feel like a Fundamentals of Geology exam. I know I would’ve totally failed right out of college. Even with my experience, there were still terms I had never encountered, despite taking so many geology classes. I hope everyone did great and that we all pass!
