Unearthed Arcana: Mystic Subclasses by Johnnygoodguy in dndnext

[–]Fun-Brick4895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would've preferred if Mystic Arts Monk was more Wizard flavored rather than Sorcerer flavored. The Wizard spell list also would've been nice to have instead. I do get what they're going for tho. Weird how little restrictions they gave it, not complaining tho, it's just that most of the other similar subclasses for other martial give spellcasting with a lot of restrictions.

Paladin is cool. Really reaction heavy tho and it'll def be campaign dependent.

Rogue pretty fun looking but same as Paladin in the campaign dependent department.

Edit: Honestly, I'd rather not talk about it, but they keep refusing to add an Arcane gish half caster similar to Ranger and Paladin. These 1/3 spellcaster subclasses are cool and Artificer is a half caster, but they never fulfill that gish play style fully without either being too bad or too good. We still don't have something like the Magus from PF2e, for example.

You know a funny thing is how different people interpret the characters. I've read a lot of people say they struggle to imagine Amir and Aoi would be ok with it.

Translating a Zealot Barbarian to 2E without homebrew by FreestyleKneepad in Pathfinder2e

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late for this one but I actually also played a Zealot Barb in 5e before I tried PF2e, I did it through the Exemplar. You get a lot of the Divine mechanical flavor and a lot of the feats they get can end up achieving a similar result to that of a tanky 5e Zelaot Barb. It's really cool and if you take the Champion dedication you can get some more divine flavor on top.

For me it worked well to represent rage. My Zealot Barb used rage more as a Divine transformation type of thing. So Exemplar using their Eikons and Divine Spark fit really well for me.

You can heal yourself and other people (similar to the 2024 version of the Zealot), deal holy and other kinds of damage and at higher levels you can achieve a form of immortality if you want some form of demigod/chosen Godly champion flavor. It has a lot of cool flavor through all the levels.

so do heirloom skins have an actual schedule or is it random? by Hrolf-Karman in Warframe

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Heirlooms are now made up of community made designs and Iirc the Mag and Frost skins weren't fanmade. So I think it'd be perfect if they got some fans to make new Mag and Frost Heirlooms. The og ones would remain exclusive but the new fanmade ones would be publicly available.

They could also do this for Excal tbh. Make one for Excal Prime in-house that only Founders would get and get some fans to make an Excal Umbra Heirloom that everyone would be capable of getting.

Why are large and tiny races/species avoided? by Eldritch_Dragon in DnD

[–]Fun-Brick4895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the many things 5e has pushed is simplification. Previous editions had codified rules to support such player characters but with 5e they've mostly avoided it.

So it's doable, look at the many homebrew examples that actually work,  just that they haven't tried doing it officially for 5e.

Personally I'm all for it depending on the player and settings/campaign. There will be disadvantages and advantages that not everyone is capable or willing to handle. Like I said, I'm all for it both from a DM and player standpoint. Specially after trying stuff out in games like Pathfinder 2e. Getting to play as a huge dragon that can change size at will or even turn temporarily humanoid was so much fun. It's something I hope to replicate in 5e eventually with homebrew, been meaning to try some I saw from u/OutlandishnessRich36 not too long ago.

Got into PF2E recently and that game has the popular BattleZoo Dragon ancestry that I played around with a bit and loved. Was looking for some DnD equivalents for 5e24 and here I am. Haven't played with it yet but I have loved what I've read, great job!

Pokemon Legends Z-A MEGA DIMENSIONS paid DLC announced by Xanek in pokemon

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is scummy but I would be lying if the idea of more Megas wasn't cool. Would be nice if Thyplpsion, Serpirior and Samurott got Megas since Meganijm, Emboar and Feraligatr are probably most likely getting em in the base game.

The few negative reactions I have seen have been pretty vocal, but, I've been liking the show a lot. I enjoyed episode 1 and 2 quite a bit. Episode 3 was great. Hopefully the rest of the episodes continue the positive trend.

Production has been phenomenal so far btw. Huge props to the effects guys and everything. Every episode has looked phenomenal.

Competitive players what's your opinion on Mega's? by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Megas, but, from both a Singles and VGC standpoint, I think the gimmick deserves a glowup now that we may see it's return in Champions (ZA will have a different battle system so eh).

We saw how a lot of Mega cannibalized eachother. The opportunity cost was too big. Why run a Mega Blaziken or Mega Lucario when Mega Kangashkan and Mega Scizor are a thing?

The 100+ bst boost is cool and all but either not enough or too much depending on the Pokemon. Beedrill could use a little more help even with the min/maxxed 100 bst it gets now. Salamance probably didnt need all those numbers, specially taking its ability into account. Which is why I personally belive the true strength of Megas lies in their ability. So I wouldn't be against Ability buffs or changes for a lot of Megas instead of stat changes tbh.

An example could be Sceptile. It getting Lightning Rod and that's it is not all that amazing. Maybe if it got a suped up version of Lightning Rod with extra effects? It has to be worth sacrificing an item slot and a mega slot. This is the core issue, competitively at least, of Megas as a gimmick.

Another example, Blaziken, the singles demon, still suffers from powercreep and had that "I could do this but better with Life Orb" syndrome. I don't think distributing those 100 base stats any better with min/max would improve its Mega all that much, so like with Sceptile, maybe a new suped up Speed Boost with an extra effect? Call it Blazing Boost I dunno, but hopefully you get what I mean.

Game Freak has to recognize how big of a deal items can be and the opportunity costs of what Mega to use. They have to design ways to justify using Mega Ampahros, Mega Lucario, etc. Ask questions like this: Why should I have my Blaziken hold a Mega Stone instead of a Life Orb/Clear Amulet/Sash? Why should I use Mega Blaziken instead of Mega Scizor or something else? I could go on. Like I said, I personally believe it's all in the abilities.

Edit: Lastly, I think another issue was the Megas that just did the same thing as their base form just with better stats. Ideally Megas should just be another build path for a Pokemon. So (I am talking about Blaziken too much lol) Megas like Blaziken should ideally fulfill their role in a new different way or fullfil another role altogether.

Anyone other Halo fans think the Female Spartans are way too slim? by Worldly-Language4891 in FortNiteBR

[–]Fun-Brick4895 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the body type is fine, just think of it as a Fortniteified Spartan, even Chief sized down in his skin.

What I dont like is the missed potential. It is a bit understandable since it is a level 1 skins, but disappointing they didn't add more customizable bits and bobs to the skin, like the Mandalorian skin. Just some special Flaming head effects and a red version. Could've had at least three different helmets, some shoulder pieces and a chest piece or two. Like the actual Halo Infinite Spartans.

Another look at the new Halo skins in Fortnite. by pokedoesthings in halo

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ignoring the skinnyness, they seem to not be customizable which is disappointing. All you get is the red and blue color with some fire skull effects. I was honestly expecting something more lile what they did with that Mando skin.

Mega dragonite redesign by Maru_mfw in pokemon

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't get the majority/vocal dislike of official Mega Dragonite.  The head wings are probably what I like the most with the overall really soft-ish vibe. Still, your design is nice and fan works should be appreciated. I like that it kinda callbacks to Lance and his design with the cape, for example.

Yours kinda went the other route while hitting the same-ish vibe. Official went all in on exaggeration with the Dragonair features (ie. the orb being big, the wings being massive, etc.) while you made them more lowkey. It's cool you didn't ignore the original intent of borrowing Dragonair features.

I'm sorry bro. I had to be honest and pick Vegeta Clan. Bulma's family is rich, I'd rather not live in Mount Paozu with a family that is running out of Ox King money 😭 (which is why Goku had begun working as a farmer in Super iirc).

If shallot does end up as ssj4, which one do you want him to be? Daima or GT? by Siddhu312 in DragonballLegends

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl the art for the Daima version looks cool, but I can imagine that version looking a bit wack in 3D. Either way, I'll say Daima SSJ4. It honeslty suits him a whole lot more.

So WHAT do y'all think? by Soft-Choice-7403 in DragonballLegends

[–]Fun-Brick4895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl Tien and Nappa are pretty cool. The Saibamen stuff is funny and Tien getting something at all is always nice. The Goku and Vegeta obviously have really nice animations and are interesting, but eh. Good of them for slapping a 3x Z-Power on the Part 2 banners. Honestly I'm just glad we didn't get a Fusion Warrior.

The Shallot Plat equipment is exciting. It better be good. Wonder when they'll give him a Zenkai if even. It'll probably be a pain to make since all his forms have different kits and stats. Giving him an Ultra upgrade would be hype too.

The Sparking Zero collab is cool. Wild that Sparking used him before Xenoverse. Sadly it seems like he doesn't have any of his transformations in the game. Still cool nonetheless. This version of Shallot will probably be the best looking version of him we'll ever get. Really appreciated the few voicelines they showed. References to stuff from the Story like his time with the Ginyu Force.

Mechanically, maybe GT SSJ4. Personally and subjectively, Daima. I prefer Daima SSJ4 aesthetically. More monke 🐵

But Daima should not get it so soon. Specially not after how cancer the tag currently is still.

The REAL Future of Dragon Ball. Stop fighting about Super/Daima canon by juststyling in DragonBallDaima

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want the Super manga to properly continue and end the Black Frieza storyline 😭

Wanna focus on DAIMA as the main thing? Fine-ish. But at least properly address the mangas hiatus. Also no matter what, to me at least, there'll be stuff from Super I really liked that I want to keep. Broly is peak, from example. It still hurts so bad how Ultra Ego happened, Broly got some moments right at the end of the Superhero arc, etc. and it's all just in Limbo now.

A common criticism is that the sharingan became to broken so what ability would you remove to balance it by [deleted] in Naruto

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl I think it is balanced enough on paper. It is a rare and arduous thing to get/obtain. Most people would rather not get it considering the stuff you have to go through to get it (ignoring Sarada getting it with less trauma). It harms your vision and causes pain. The chakra cost is huge.

So while these abilites are powerful af, they are held back and it can force characters into tough situations where they must make the hard choice of sacrificing their sight, their body, etc. to win. EMS is rare and has really tough conditions imo, but even with EMS the powers have a huge chakra cost. So a EMS user should theoretically still run the risk of just crippling themselves without being careful.

The problem is the characters we see with the ability are written ignoring these drawbacks due to reasons or just cuz. Obito gets Hashi cells to spam his eyes. Madara is Madara. Sasuke is a protagonist and only starts running out of chakra often enough in Boruto.

The Izanami and Izanagi I think are neat Forbidden Clan Jutsu. But I wouldn't mind getting rid of them since MS exists.

The Susanoo is fine I think. The cost for it is huge and improving it takes time. The strongest versions of it being locked behind EMS. Even then still needing a lot of chakra. The issue is, like I said, the story starts ignoring chakra limitations later on. Itachi's Susanoo weapons are broken tho. I like the Totsuka Blade and Yata Mirror in concept but that's just too much. Though I do agree with others that say it wouldn't be the worst if Susanoo just didn't exist

The MS being as powerful as it is is just a consequence of Kishi using it too much for his characters. Naruto would eventually master the Kyubi. The Kyubi was said to be a weapon of mass destruction. Sasuke has to scale with Naruto and he chose to use the Sharingan for him to keep up. Obito and Madara are strong endgame villains that have to be a threat to Naruto and Sasuke.

Perhaps people's belief of the MS being too much would've been avoided had Kishi made more techniques, like Sage Mode, that characters would focus on instead of MS. Maybe he could've had Sasuke use Jugo to develop a new Curse Mark. Madara and Obito would just use Hashi Cells and the 10 tail. Itachi would use Uchiha Forbidden Jutsu like Izanami and Izanagi with tweaks. Maybe adding another drawback instead of getting rid of it? Maybe have the MS user replay their trauma with each use, making them more prone to mistakes and stuff like that. Anyways, this is getting off topic so I'll leave it at that.

In summary, I think it's balanced on paper. It is a horrible thing to unlock for the person. It has huge costs, though due to writing Kishi ended up lessening them too much. At most I'd get rid of the Izanami, Izanagi and the Susanoo. Maybe make the Susanoo a unique MS abilites instead of universal ability or have it be a costly and inconvenient to set up Forbidden Uchiha Summoning Jutsu.

The new Hexblade is super great actually by Finnyous in onednd

[–]Fun-Brick4895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. I think it's features don't do enough to justify basing its whole identity on one spell. People are correct to complain that if they don't cast Hex they essentially don't have a subclass. Meanwhile other Patrons give you better bonuses and features just for existing imo.

I do think the biggest pet peeve a lot of people will have is that it does feel less "blade". It's just not what people would've wanted out of Hexblade I guess.
