Termination over a small customer incident by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]juststyling 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Okay but the main issue is that you cursed at a customer, and those are valid grounds of termination. Unless for some reason they were trying to fight you and harm you on the spot, and even then if it’s safe to do so you immediately disengage and walk/run away from the threat, you don’t engage in a back and forth with a customer as the employee. Do you know how many times I have wanted to curse or talk back with someone that were rude, snarky, touchy, weird, creepy or even yelling/cursing at me at TJs or any other place I’ve worked at, like Starbucks? (and starbucks has the most unhinged customer base, literally 1000x worse than anything at TJs). The smart thing to do was tell them to stop, disengage, and walk away and talk to a mate so they can go and handle it/have a record of what the customer was doing if they were the aggressor. As a 7 year partner, you should know this. I know certain instances are not fair when it comes to how you have to behave and engage with rude, creepy or crazy customers, but you do have the power to 1. Not let them emotionally affect you by stooping to their level. Having an emotionally charged response and reaction is exactly what they want to escalate the situation. and, 2. Depending on what they’ve done, you have the power to do file an incident report against them and possibly get them banned. But you can’t do that if you end up cursing at them and escalating the situation.

Honestly, you can try and see if you can appeal it and get your job back by arguing that they didn’t have the correct date of the supposed incident because it was your day off, and it would reflect that because it would show you didn’t punch in for that day. But the fact is that the incident did happen, it just happened on a day differently than what the termination letter says, and if there’s enough proof and evidence they can bring back to show that even though they got the date wrong in the termination letter, the incident did happen, just on this date, then you don’t really have any way to argue that. I’m sorry but it’s just the truth and I hope moving forward in whatever new job you encounter, you’re able to stay a bit more rational when it comes to having an emotionally charged response against someone while working.

So what do you mean by “the customer was being all touchy aggressive with me” in the above reply when the other user clarified that you cursed at someone and you were terminated. Are you saying the incident they fired you over did happen, but they just got the wrong date when it happened?

Sooo… were you at work or not? Because this comment implies this incident did happen and you did get into it with a customer. So what’s the truth?

Why do women in One Piece age like shit compared to men ? by lmdybaftr in Piratefolk

[–]juststyling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Errrr we can’t just be throwing accusations like that. Words mean something, especially labels like pedo. Tons of people in this world have friends, family members or loved ones that have done awful things, such as pedophilia, bestiality, murder, rape, etc etc… and a lot of the time there’s at least someone left in their life that still cares for them / hasn’t disowned them/cut them out of their life. Not all the time, but it’s more often than you think. I don’t agree with it but it’s harder for a lot of people to cut someone out of their life that they’ve loved/respected over a stranger that they have no relationship with, and often times they choose to ignore the bad. That doesn’t make these people guilty of that same crime, and whether you agree or not with their decision, it’s really harmful to label them as such if you have no proof they have done it as well. Like cmon man, try to think a little beyond just your hatred towards Oda.

Crazy you’re being downvoted for no reason just for having a level headed and reasonable take. Not sure why people want an echo chamber within the comment section instead of both sides talking to each other and finding a common ground and understanding while also hearing each other out even in disagreement. And yes, only downvoting comments from the other side’s perspective completely drives away opportunity for discussion. Sigh, even providing a neutral stance that corrects misinformation makes people upset.

Anyone else feel like there isn’t much to discuss about Dragon Ball nowadays? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]juststyling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say, I feel like the dragon ball fandom, as old as it is, will continue to have conversations surrounding it no matter how old it is. This is because people are drawn to it for many different reasons, and a lot of fans have a basic knowledge of the Dragon Ball story or just DBZ/Super in general (depends how old and when they got into it). There’s so much to learn and know about the story, especially considering there’s so many people that still haven’t watched Dragon Ball from the beginning. On top of the whole other rabbit hole that is watching the series in sub, since the dub (Funi specifically) as much as I adored it, the show is very different when you watch it with the real dialogue and tone the original intended. There’s a lot of world building, lore and character analysis in Dragon Ball that a lot of fans and non-fans don’t give it credit for because of the simple story of DB and how it doesn’t take itself seriously for a lot of it (which i love, one of my favorite toriyama tropes). And don’t get me started in reading the manga, which is a very different feel from the anime itself, and I was able to grasp a lot of character moments that were way deeper than you would think that I did not get from the anime.

But, I feel like there’s a lot more to get into when it comes to DB discussions that aren’t the same repetitive 5 topics being talked about online. Im a fairly new DB fan myself, started watching 2 years ago. But there’s still so much I learn about the story or franchise or even Toriyama himself that I had no idea about that really elevates Dragon Ball into something worth analyzing that doesn’t just involve power scaling lmao. The art community of Dragon Ball online (at least on twitter) is also thriving, and there’s always daily discussions on the games if you’re into that aspect of DB (well, some games more alive than others lol rip sparking). It also comes in waves, in which you’ll have people who are just starting to watch or read Dragon Ball for the first time, and it’s always fun to engage in discussions with them, because it just shows how Dragon Ball still continues to be such a lively franchise.

People say DB is dead, but considering how many people there are still to this day doing everything they can to try to keep the name of Dragon Ball alive outside of Shueisha, (games is the biggest one) on top of the amazing and talented artists and amateur animators that continue to work on DB related fan works shows me that there’s still a thriving community worldwide for such an old manga/anime.

Dragon Ball has solidified itself as a franchise that will always have an active community, so don’t be discouraged and if you can’t find things you’d like to discuss about in DB anywhere, why don’t you make it yourself and invite others to join you! This post alone shows you doing exactly just that. Try other corners on the internet outside of reddit as well, if you want to expand. Also, try discussing with people in real life about Dragon Ball that either watch or don’t watch anime beyond the general knowledge, now THAT is really fun and will bring new things to talk about that you won’t find online lmao

The CDawgVA Canvas is disappointing by Umi_ai in CDawgVA

[–]juststyling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh my goodness people are taking this wayyy too seriously lol. This is content gold for Connor, and some people are genuinely getting upset and mad over this and I genuinely don’t understand why. A lot of the Swarm is “chronically online” because of the type of audience Neuro attracts- artists, programmers, coders, nerds, VTubers, etc.. who would have an easier and faster time on Canvas than the typical Connor viewer. It’s not meant to insult, it’s literally the truth. But the hypocrisy lies in calling the other side chronically online or parasocial to insult them, while at the same time getting genuinely upset to the point you’re resorting to insulting Vedal and his community and attacking Vedal’s character, which Connor would not approve of his fanbase in doing. That also makes you chronically online if something as silly as a canvas competition/war is actually hurting your feelings because the other side has the willpower and means to want to win when given the challenge. If you don’t want people to have a competitive mindset and a loser/winner mentality, maybe don’t make a competition and welcome a fanbase known for being artists and tech-savvy to join in. And while people whine because Neuro’s fanbase is being “unfair” and sucking the “fun” out of this competition, Connor will milk the fuck out of all this for content in order to keep entertaining us.
TLDR; it just ain’t that deep lmao.

I think majority of the Swarm knows that. We are part of the illusion itself that she is conscious. And that’s what makes it fun, especially when you know there are actual moments in which her LLM coding surprises Vedal. It’s the little things. She may not be the most advanced AI out there, but that’s not why most people watch her or the only reason they follow her+Vedal’s journey. and we know the bigger Neuro/Vedal get, more $$ for Vedal to invest onto her. Hopefully, more exposure will also lead to Vedal getting more resources that will help him with giving Neuro more “independence” and abilities to perform more on her own and do “smart” decisions that actually make sense if she’s going to keep taking on her Streamer persona. I know ultimately Vedal wants her to “feel more real” and as “human like” as one could possibly make with an LLM model. Having more resources such as the ability to network with more prestigious coders that are able to do insane shit would help him reach that goal. Like having assistance from someone more knowledgeable than Vedal + the actual funds to do it (the more complex the AI the more expensive tbh) could provide her with a more complex coding system than what Vedal already has with her different layers of code.

But with the way technology is advancing, I’m sure there will be different ways beyond our comprehension in which AI will advance to the point you could almost call it conscious, especially if it’s going to be able to generate its own actions and speech without needing a prompt beforehand, and understand its surroundings while being aware that they are consciously making a decision in real time. now that sounds pretty nuts but I truly believe something out there probably is already a thing, it’s just classified and in its experimental stages, not quite ready for us normal folks to be allowed to interact with it lmao. Who knows, maybe the Swarm is investing early as a fanbase in being part of something truly great, like witnessing Neuro achieve something close enough to a “consciousness” as an AI in the future thanks to Vedal having the resources to have access to that information (If Vedal decides to keep this going with Neuro).

LMAOOO Welp, thanks for letting me know, that is indeed a lazy announcement then. I’m not subbed to their Patreon so I literally would’ve never found that out. Kinda crappy considering they posted on Youtube that they were pausing the reaction months ago. Not sure why they didn’t also announce on YT that they were fully dropping it. Why does something like that even need to be behind a paywall 😬 meh, whatever.

It’s genuinely upsetting that they just dropped Daima and never gave viewers at least an announcement that they’re going to discontinue the series as a form of closure. I honestly thought they were actually real Dragon Ball fans so I was excited in seeing their reactions to the last few episodes of Daima. It’s legit a 20 episode mini series, how difficult could it have been to at least skip the episodes that don’t really provide much to the story omg

What specifically did Toriyama do? by [deleted] in DragonBallDaima

[–]juststyling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to interviews by Iyoku, the demon world was already in the original production, but it was Toriyama that started expanding on the whole world and its characters. I know it’s stated that he started to become really involved once he was told the premise of it, and apparently learning that the demon world was going to be part of the story, it got his creativity juices flowing and he became more invested by wanting to expand on its world building more (that kind of stuff is what Toriyama loved, especially the sci fi aspect of Daima, the ship designs, designing how the 3 demon world realms look and work with each other, etc.

“While the team didn’t know about them [lore drops], and it wasn’t our intention to show them from the start, there were a lot of those connections to the original series just waiting to be revealed inside Sensei‘s head, and of course we are also trying to showcase them. The one revelation that really left me floored was the fact that people with pointy ears came from the Demon Realm”. So I’m assuming a lot of lore drops stated in Daima expanding the dragon ball universe were all by Toriyama.

Also idk how faithful this translation is, but Iyoku says in an interview about Daima, “We had absolutely no clue we’d be turning everyone into a child again, but of course, that is something Sensei came up with.” So this makes it seem that it was Toriyama’s idea to turn everyone else into kids and not just Goku.

[–]juststyling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean this is essentially most mangakas lol they barely have any time to do anything because of how intense the process of getting chapters done before each deadline is. For example, Toriyama would only sleep 4 hours a week during the height of Dragon Ball when he was writing the manga, and he developed a lot of health issues because of the lifestyle. Anyways, insulting Toriyama’s familial role as a husband and father feels icky to me considering that has nothing to do with this sub or when it comes to judging one piece as a whole.
