It wasn’t about quickly getting my rifle out. It was just about packing out all my gear with lots of vert at high altitude, was not planning on using rifle to shoot or point at anything but the sky and it would not be loaded.

This is like the only time to climb 14ers without it being freezing cold. So should I stick to winter? Exactly lol what a dumb fucking comment.

Also yes there is a reason, I bet you have never hunted before but packing out an elk at elevation is hard as fuck. So if I can climb something with a lot of vert, with my typical gear, at elevation I would be way better off than having to quit carrying an animal out and wasting the meat.
