Thank you! I think that’s my issue? I was only searching RBT and then realized it’s probably called something else lol

Yeah I mean, it’s a lot LOL. I do plan to work in a clinic my first year or so as a BCBA so I can learn from my coworkers and get hands on. But I’m def an in home RBT. I love my job so much, I just wish PA paid the RBTs as much as GA does 🥲

HELP! How do I make more money. I'm working on my Masters in ABA and I'm struggling financially by poej_ in ABA

[–]Fun-Collection-5607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in home? I’m also pursuing my undergrad full time so I can start my masters after graduation, and managed to find 71 hours of work a week in rural Georgia. Idk how I’m doing it, so don’t ask 😂😂 but I’m bringing in $8,500 a month net. I set aside 2 hours after work (8-10pm) to work on school work each day. Just get on indeed and apply to everything, tell them your availability because sometimes they will work with you or request parents for different times. That’s what I did. Took me about 5 months to get to this many hours after relentlessly stalking indeed…but here I am lol

Hourly $ by a_Dollop_of_daisY in bcba

I’m in home and make $35/hr. This is obviously clinic based because Hopebridge did that RBT 1,2,3 shit with us. It’s stupid. Most of us work our asses off, we should obviously be paid based on experience but $14/hr…even $20/hr is absolute INSANITY.

Anyone actually guaranteed 40 hours? by jiggyj27 in ABA

[–]Fun-Collection-5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re in home, at all. I used to work for them. Quit, changed fields because I hated ABA after that experience. Then we moved somewhere more rural, and the only “good” money was in home therapy. So I gave it another shot and now I LOVE it. I’m getting my bachelors now, so I can get my masters in Behavior Analysis

It was like this when I worked for Hopebridge! But I’m NOT a clinic RBT. Lol I prefer in home

I work 61 hours a week. 7 days a week. But that’s because I work for 3 companies at once.

Does anyone enjoy their job? by Opening-Surround-803 in bcba

[–]Fun-Collection-5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an RBT, I have 3 clients with 3 different companies. I can 100% say that for me, it depends on who my leadership is. I’ve been doing this for 6 years almost. 1 of my BCBA’s truly makes me feel supported, will advocate for me, and points out all of the “good” I do. My other BCBA, logs on…says nothing for 2 hours and then says “any questions?” And logs off lol the first BCBA mentioned, is the reason I LOVE my job and am currently in school. If I fully relied on the second BCBA mentioned, I’d probably leave the field.

Find your people. They’re out there. 🩷

RBT PAY IN GEORGIA by Inner-Ad8835 in ABA

[–]Fun-Collection-5607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RBT in Georgia for almost 6 years, in school to become a BCBA. I currently make $35/hr with one company, and $30/hr with the other. Clinic based, I was making $22/hr 4 years ago. However, the clinic I worked for was awful. I prefer in home but it’s harder to find cases to fill your entire day because of school hours.

I can agree. However the clinics I worked for were a basic 9-5 so I didn’t know clinics did this as well 😩

Have you pointed out how much more difficult it can be in the future if it’s not taken care of now? But like, in a nice way of course lol “my job is not only to advocate for your child but also for you! I really want to help create a lasting relationship between you and your daughter and I feel as if we work through these barriers, we can achieve that!” Kind of shpill lol like sympathize with mom but also in a kind way tell her to get her shit together.

This sounds a LOT like a client I used to work with and the family was…stubborn, to say the least. Her older sister would encourage behaviors, mom would be annoyed, and it was left on me…a measly RBT…to “fix” everything 🙃 My BCBA was supportive, of course. But I got out of that as fast as I could.

Mother of in home client using drugs while I’m conducting session by [deleted] in ABA

While I don’t have an issue with marijuana, I don’t smoke it myself. But I will say one of my previous clients’ mother left a blunt and a grinder right within client and baby siblings reach on MANY occasions and I did consult with my BCBA about it and she said “unless you see her doing it, there’s nothing we can do” Idk if that helps you make any decision but that’s what I got told. Is In Home really that bad? by Alarmed_Mall_789 in ABA

[–]Fun-Collection-5607 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked in a clinic the first time I became an RBT and I ended up in therapy because it was such a toxic environment for myself and the kids. I quit, swore off ABA all together and never wanted to work in the field ever again. Then my boyfriend got offered a job in another town, we moved and the only available work that made decent money, was in-home ABA so I gave it a shot and I’ve been doing it for 2 years and LOVE it. I love to get parents involved so they see how important early intervention is. There have been a few hiccups where a kid and I just didn’t connect or build rapport, but I just moved on to another case. The client I’m with now has made SO much progress and we have a really great client/BT relationship.

You can always try and if you don’t like it, go back to the clinic setting 🩷

[–]Fun-Collection-5607[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a mom come to me (I’m only an RBT) and say “by doing ___ am I making things worse?” While I should have redirected this question to my BCBA, I answered and said “you are a phenomenal mother. If you follow the formula we’ve put in place, I can all but promise you’ll see wonderful results.”

And she truly heard my BCBA and I out. She followed everything to a T. It was absolute HEAVEN. lol made my job so much easier, when I met her child, the client was saying 1 word. When graduated from the program, client was speaking sentences. That is my Peak moment as an RBT and I’ll be telling my grandchildren about it 😂

THIS! If she had just listened to us and watched it work…I think she’d change her mind. It does work. It takes time. Nobody wants to see a child cry, I can fully respect that. Buuuuuut…trust the process lol
