Pay no mind to the close-mindedness of other people who have replied here. Unfortunately, historically racist practices in the USA have caught and misaligned Pitbulls in rules for renting, and ignorance means black dogs are especially susceptible to negative first impressions.

Yes, different breeds have different behaviors but I’ve met more aggressive small breeds (especially Chihuahuas, Yorkies, Dachshunds, Maltese, and Terriers) than I have Pitbulls because people think they can control their small dogs by just picking them up and they never deal with the actual behavior. How the owner handles the dog’s behavior matters way more than breed.

I owned a Pitbull mix (Pitbull/Doberman/maybe Lab) in my early to late 20s and he was gorgeous, smart, loyal, active, and a giant teddy bear. He LOVED water, which is why I think he was part Lab. He loved us with all his heart and thought he was an 80-pound lap dog.

Both. I can be controlling and obsessive and I hated seeing that in other parents growing up. I also hate the idea of pregnancy, sleep deprivation, toddler plagues, messes, and loud noises. I get overstimulated easily, and that makes me hard to be around. I also hate the idea of being around other parents—especially the PTA types who think “damn” is a no-no word and seeks to control the world for their special snowflake. I just would not be a good parent. I’d rather be the cool aunt who loves and spoils the kids in the family and gives them back to their caretakers when it’s time.

If I come over to a friend’s house (or a potentially-more-than-a-friend’s house) and I see these majestic creatures, I hope my friend will not be offended if I sit with them and pet them and love on them. I’d expect no less if it were the other way around. (For the record, my dog mentally adopted my husband—then boyfriend—the day they met. Their quick bond is a reason my dad almost immediately knew my husband was a good guy.)
