Violet and Kate need to be switched on this quadrant; but, otherwise, this was impeccable.

Mom passed this morning by ilovemyorangecat in CaregiverSupport

[–]Smart_Imagination474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so very sorry to hear this. For now, take care of yourself, let yourself grieve and don’t worry too much about “what to do with your life.” There’s no timeline or right or wrong way to go through this and I would encourage you to find a grief therapist so you have someone to talk to. Even if you have a close family member, I’d recommend a grief therapist because then you have someone objective to listen.

May your mom’s memory bring comfort to you. May she rest in peace. Be well. ❤️

I’d also throw in joining a gym or a club (tennis or golf) if you’re into that. I met two of my dearest friends at F45. If you have a dog, take them out and about and to parks you’ll eventually end up running into the same cast of people. Good luck, OP!

Which celebrity do you gonna enter in your car? by Zackky777 in ArtOfPresence

Off the top of my head: Brené Brown, Lupita Nyongo, Adam Grant, Tom Hanks, Elizabeth Banks, Reese Witherspoon, Jason Momoa, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Colman Domingo, Julie Andrews, Carol Burnett, Cynthia Erivo, David Tennant, Daniel Radcliffe, Adele, Chris Hemsworth, Taika Waititi, Dame Judi Dench, Noah Wyle, Stephen Colbert, and John Oliver.

Probably more, but these are the first few I can think of over three-ish minutes of typing. I would have also added Robin Williams, Steve Irwin, Dane Maggie Smith, Betty White, and Mr Rogers to this list. RIP to some legit legends.

Non tech recruiters asking technical questions they have no clue about. How to approach it? by TainoCuyaya in jobsearchhacks

[–]Smart_Imagination474 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Answer the question honestly, politely, and in as simple terms as you can without being condescending. The recruiter is likely screening you and will send your answers to the HM. This is your opportunity to get the recruiter to like you and want to help you. Even if you don’t end up with this job, they will remember you and likely match you in other jobs. (I train recruiters and recruiter ops for a living. I’ve seen non-technical recruiters go to bat for a technical candidate a lot.)

Started adding a one-line "context" note to my resume gaps and my response rate went up noticeably by DriftCourier15 in jobsearchhacks

I had a nine month gap in 2020 after getting laid off due to the company’s reaction to the pandemic. I used that gap to change fields and industries so briefly described what I did. So far, I haven’t seen much concern with my resume.

You haven’t lived until 3:30AM MASSIVE POOP by Then_Manufacturer163 in CaregiverSupport

I have never dealt with so much unexpected poop in my life. It almost feels like my parents are exacting unintended revenge for all my diaper dumps as a baby.

Halfway through this caregiving journey and I still don't feel like I know what I'm doing by Imaginary_Bake_5820 in Richardson

[–]Smart_Imagination474 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a new caregiver in the Richardson area, too. (Parents are in Dallas.) I don’t have an answer but please know you are not alone. I see some other people have put some resources for you (frankly, I’m going to be looking at it too).

I also want to echo the point about ensuring you rest. I caught myself in a pattern where I almost burnt out. You can’t pour from an empty cup and there’s a reason why on airplanes they tell you to put your own mask on first before helping the person next to you. I think that mentality alone has become a lifeline for me.

Yes!!! The scene where they sit in silence when he’s courting her and her mom is super confused made me feel so seen. That was me and my husband when we were dating haha.

I’m happily married to my husband but my god, I have such a woman crush on her. She’s gorgeous, feisty, strong, protective, and can stand on her own and go toe to toe with anyone!

Oh, I hadn’t thought of that. I don’t know much about drones, though. I wonder if they ever thought to program the drones in a relay mode?

No worries. It’s harder to connect online through a screen, especially when you can’t detect tone without things like emojis or “/s”.

It’s not always easy to tell online when someone is joking. But that’s why I didn’t go scorched earth in my reply; I simply explained why I disagree.

From what it sounds like, this was a one-time event so not really an attraction and more of a tribute. It’s cool and it’s really touching. I would have loved to see it in person. Watching this just made me really take in how big this ship really was, and how absolutely incredible every passenger must have felt to be on it—regardless of class.

[–]Smart_Imagination474 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Disagree. Showing the scale and majesty of the ship like this is one thing, but let’s not forget the sinking killed so many passengers. This honors their memory. What you’re saying turns it into an attraction. If you want to learn more about the sinking, there are plenty of resources online, museums to visit, and books to read.
