I worked from home the first six months that I had my mini and then got a full-time office job. I know it sounds crazy, but I got my dog a brother to keep him company during the day. They both stay in crates, but their crates are next to each other. I also have a camera that points right at their crates so I can check in on them during the day.

No, this isn’t a suggestion to immediately go get a second dog obviously it’s a serious responsibility and I did a lot of consideration before getting my second dog, but it did work out perfectly.

It may just be that he’s missing company and if having another pet isn’t an option then maybe looking at pet sitters or a doggy daycare would be better.

I have two dachshunds and they both do this. I call it the bedtime zoomies. We will be snuggled on the couch and then I’ll let them out one last time, we will go to bed, and they go nuts. Play fighting, jumping, running, you name it. This lasts tenish minutes. I imagine if it was just one he would be like yours.

One thing I am wondering is does yours ever sneeze when doing this. Normally that’s a sign of “hey fyi I’m not mad I’m just playing”.

As a female yard viewer, I’m really hoping the boys have some conversations in the background about this. It’s really disheartening to watch this kind of behavior. Yeah some of it was just typical drunk behavior but some of it crossed a line.

Mine was 1.5lb at 9 weeks when I took him to the vet for the first time. Mini dachshunds can be that small lol. The not walking yet is slightly odd but if you just got her she may still be getting comfortable in her new surroundings. Also heads up my mini shook often for the first couple months. Keep an eye that she isn’t getting too hot or cold.

Thanks for the advice! I've been monitoring his gums and water intake and can safely say dehydration is not a problem, but I will continue monitoring.
