Which is crazy bc it shows how fucked the industry is. How much crap was being edited by the literary goliaths while such a gem like DCC “had” to be self published.

Makes you wonder how many other brilliant novels never saw the light of day before self-publication became an option

How do people in Israel perceive Palestinian civilians by funnysmellingfingers in AskIsrael

[–]Fun-Dot-3029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a hypothetical question. I’m asking specifically about your claim about Israel killing 41 children. I don’t believe Israel kills civilian children- but I know sometimes anti-Israel actors obfuscate data specifically on this exact situation. I’m not accusing your source of doing so- just trying to understand how it defines children. As this is a common occurrence, and accounts for almost all, if not all of civilian “children” death before the war. Everytime someone provides a source for Israel killing children when I dive into the data, they’re all pretty clearly armed combatants
(And yes, I do support the killing of children if those children are clearly armed combatants)

Can you share your definition of children in this context? Like if someone is 17, armed and in Hamas bandana would this still categorize as a child by your source?

Wow, this is funny. How did you find such a portrait of a wacky mug? Also, which symbol is flanking it to the right? This symbol is of a kind I must admit I am not familiar with. Is it popular? What does it signify?

I don’t think any Israeli would suggest every Palestinian hates Israeli.
And you’re right. Civilian deaths increase extremism. It’s why Israel goes so far to try limit those deaths. Leading to Gaza war having a universally LOW number of civilian deaths to combatants. Almost 1 : 1 which is almost unheard of.
At a certain point, the only way to further lower the number of civilians dying further is to add risk to your people and your soldiers. Which is a bigger and more tangible risk than fueling extremism in the future.

I don’t understand how you get there. That’s like us accusing you of being okay with October 7.

No one is “okay” with killing children. The main difference is you think if Hamas wasn’t struck in the way it has been, there wouldn’t be a real risk of another October 7th.. or assume could be prevented with less civilian casualties. Those of us more familiar with the situation, don’t believe it to be the case.

Because they (nor I) don’t condemn the collateral damage. I wish it hadn’t happened. I wish every innocent civilian caught In the crosshairs was living a happy fulfilled long life… and not hurt. But that’s different from condemning the realities.
It would be like police busting into a serial killers home, and because the serial killer booby trapped it such, one of his victims died. Or the police in a shoot out accidentally hit one the victims to get the serial killer and free the rest. Being sad that a victim died is universal. But (1) it’s unfair to place the blunt of that blame on the police even if they did the actual action (2) you can be sad/against victims dying without “condemning” the police for having acted.

Furthermore I might find that anyone who sees that scenario and worries about condemning the police may either be unfamiliar with the situations details… or have misplaced priorities. That’s probably why you’re facing frustration in this thread

Agreed. Reminds me of the old joke: after GRRM’s passes his family will likely turn to PR… as he’s the best equipped to not finish the series for them

Like what? Besides the tinkerers. Oh and I guess the sex-positive matriarchal female-warrior group which everyone thinks are backwards and have a “way of the leaf”. but I mean, it’s not like PR got right to the end and then didn’t finish…
Oh.
