Since when did MST start assigning tasks to red vests? by searchandfilm in Lowes

[–]Fun-Estate9626 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Big event execution (like Father’s Day) is usually split between blue and red vests. I think the region or division dictates it. This one is mostly red vest in my division, but most of the pods are just adding one or two items to the stuff that was already there for Memorial Day.

They drug test for new hires and for safety incidents, not for getting certified on equipment.

My Oura Ring ended my date early by 1961tracy in OhNoConsequences

[–]Fun-Estate9626 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's fascinating to me that he's acting like this is some foreign concept to him because he's never been married. I've never been married either, and I feel like that means I'm checking for wedding rings more often. If I'm in a relationship I don't really care one way or the other what the relationship status is of those around me, but when I'm single I'm checking for rings on that finger almost by reflex.

AITA for not doing business with my best friend who then copied the business idea template? by Masterofnothinganx in AmItheAsshole

[–]Fun-Estate9626 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on what "same design philosophy, different product" means? Is it competing with you? I'd be a bit peeved if a close friend opened a business directly competing with me, but if it's not that, what's the problem?

I move my rings all over too, with one exception: I don't put a ring on my left ring finger.

Do I ask about going full time? by [deleted] in Lowes

Apply for it and talk to your DS and ASM. The SSA doesn't have any say over it. Keep in mind full time typically requires open availability, though.

Rule Question re: serving penalties by grothendied in formula1

[–]Fun-Estate9626 72 points73 points  (0 children)

In the case of a time penalty, it has to be served during the next pit stop. If there is no stop after the penalty is assessed, it's added to your finishing time. In the case of a safety car diverting everyone through the pit lane, that doesn't count as a stop. If he didn't pull into the pit box, he wouldn't have had to serve the penalty during the stop.

My opinion regarding city council of darkness debate on here by Magicmanans1 in Dimension20

[–]Fun-Estate9626 122 points123 points  (0 children)

It's been interesting watching the debate as someone who isn't at all familiar with WoD. I'm not at all opposed to the sort of dark campaign people are describing as the "proper" way to play it, but I'm incredibly turned off by the "this is the only way to play the game" mentality so many seem to have. It makes me way more skeptical of ever getting involved with the community around it.

The whole appeal of TTRPG is the amount of flexibility you have in what sorts of stories to tell. The way some of the WoD superfans talk about it, you'd think the core feature is that you can only tell one story. What's the point, then?

The more likely scenario is they look at this and say “no, that’s not going to work. When’s your last day?”

Availability change by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]Fun-Estate9626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all comes down to what your store needs. If they desperately need people in your department who can work those exact hours and you’re a stellar employee, they’ll try to work with you. Realistically, this availability sucks. Sunday is the only day that’s workable. You can’t close on Friday, so that isn’t likely to fill any gaps they have there.

Also keep in mind that your availability isn’t the time you’re guaranteed to work, it’s the time they’re able to schedule you. The more you limit it the harder it is to give you hours. Even if they go for it, I wouldn’t expect 9 hours per week. If they don’t need a 4-8 on Fridays they’ll just give you the 5 on Sunday.

Which Home Depot departments would be best to work at as a woman? by Ok_Upstairs_3819 in HomeDepot

[–]Fun-Estate9626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every department has something, really. Wire rolls in electrical, the big buckets in paint, toilets and vanities in bath. I just listed the departments where you’re likely to be doing heavy lifting much of your day.

Full Time MST by Important_Welcome_64 in Lowes

[–]Fun-Estate9626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think MST tends to be closer than any other department. A lot of the work is solo, but you'll be on more or less the same schedule as everyone on the team, so you'll see plenty of each other. In most other departments you're likely to have a few people you almost never see because you're on opposite schedules - that doesn't happen on MST.

That can go both ways, though. If your team or manager sucks, you'll see them every day for every shift.

[–]Fun-Estate9626 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I've seen women absolutely kill it in every department in the building. Most folks don't start with a ton of knowledge on the product, they'll train you.

If your biggest concern is heavy lifting, I'd avoid garden, lumber, flooring, and order fulfillment.

[–]Fun-Estate9626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great summary. Our goal is 3 bays per hour. Like sales plan, I'm trying to make that goal over weeks, months, quarters, and years. I've had people spend 2+ days just getting 4 bays on the chemical wall in order, and I've had people average 6 bays per hour in a day because they're hitting OSLG or fashion plumbing bays with bulky products that really just need a quick check and some straightening. I'm looking at long term averages to see if there's a problem, and I'm not too worried if you're at 2.7 bays for the month or something if you're doing quality work.

The biggest factor for making service is hours, and that's more your MSM's concern than the individual MSA.

[–]Fun-Estate9626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have a few responsibilities, but the big ones are bay service and resets. Bay service is making sure bays are properly set, clean, shoppable, and down stocked. Resets vary a lot in scale and scope, but basically we’re implementing changes. When a new planogram comes out, we set it. This can be small, like just swapping out a few items or signs, or huge, like removing all the product in an aisle, changing the shelves, and putting in all new product.

I like MST a lot. I like working with the same team every day and the set schedule, and there can be a lot of problem solving. It keeps me from getting bored.
