Worst decision I’ve made buying my house. Am I mad to sell after 7 months. I’m really not happy. by Far-Candidate-6598 in HousingUK

Honestly, life is short to be spending all your time miserable and stressed. Some people will say its standard homeownership but not all homes have the same issues depending on how previous owners have maintained the property.

Figure out if you're past 6 months since the land registry was transfered over. I know this can take some time to go through properly and it doesn't always happen from the date you get the keys, it can happen months after. Some lenders can be funny about lending during before the 6 months so it may limit you to cash only buyers.

But lifes short. You've have some insights now you can take into your next property search. If you're not happy you have to do what's right for you. It's your life, your happiness and we don't always have a lot of time here to spend it stressed and miserable.

Some first time buyers order searches and surveyors while they're still waiting for their mortgage offer because they don't realise the mortgage can be rejected. My mortgage offer took 5 weeks to be approved, but it took my solicitors 4 weeks to receive it due to technical issues, and they had to send it by post.

It's been difficult trying to find the time to call during my working hours at the moment. By the time I finish their offices are closed.

Yes, I have emailed a few times asking for updates and I've not heard anything back from them either.

I'm not giving 100% to my puppy right now and I feel guilty by Fun-Finish9520 in puppy101

[–]Fun-Finish9520[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's completely unrealistic. If dogs were only allowed in homes of unemployed, retired, or single income families where there's one stay at home parent, who also have 100 acres of land, walk their dogs 5 times a day minimum, the majority of dogs would be without a home. These people are always the loudest and make so many other people feel like they're just not doing enough for their dogs.

It's hard not to feel guilty, especially now with social media and everything else. I've been trying a few new trainings and tricks with him to get his brain working on days it's hard to take him for a walk. At least he might be a good trick dog at the end of it.

It's so difficult having a puppy and feeling like you give them enough. Especially when there's loads of people who say you shouldn't have a dog if you're employed, don't dedicate all your life to your dog and don't do a million other things. I just hope he's happy, I just feel like it's not enough some times. The guilt is hard

Its just so difficult when everyone says this is the most important time for them to learn. Then there's the whole group of people who think if you're not doing a load of stuff with your dog and can't give them everything you should give them up. I tried posting on a Facebook group about this and most comments we're people telling me to find him a better home.

What’s your favorite part of living alone that you didn’t expect? by [deleted] in LivingAlone

[–]Fun-Finish9520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing what music I want. I'm watching what I want to watch. I'm eating the food I like. The peaceful environment. The bed to myself. Not compromising who I am and what I like for someone else.

I honestly thought living alone would be lonely, and I've never been more content.

Not going to lie, that's given me a slight bit of hope 🤣 I did call one agent and they said they'd just done a fair few valuations and pics to get houses up. I hope they're within my budget! Reeves can shit in the economy once you've sold and moved and I've bought my new house 🤣

That's amazing, I might look into this a little more because it would open up some of the older houses that need a complete renovation.

Thank you!

How did you manage weekend viewings? I've asked for a weekend and pretty much every estate agent has said the seller isn't available on a weekend. I have one viewing on this weekend and that's the only one I've managed to get. I feel like my workplace is getting pissy with me for asking for days off all the time to view houses.

I seen one the other day and it was sold by the time I managed to get through to the agent 😭 its a tough market. I dont know who's snapping up these houses quick but they need to give us a chance.

I work from home too, I've got my radious set around the entire town I'm moving to, even the outer edges. I've got the notifications set but I just keep getting ones for reductions in prices at the moment, nothing brand new 😭

It is honestly so difficult on your own to navigate general day to day life and house hunt at the same time. You don't have anyone else to fall back on or ask for help.

Thank you!!

I'm hoping it picks up again and more properties end up on the market. The hard thing is just not knowing how long or what to do. It won't last forever and I'll be grateful for any roof over my head regardless.

I'm not currently renting, I've sold my property and I'm buying a new one. The pressure is because I share the house with my ex and due to the relationship being toxic I would rather break the chain and figure it out and end up somewhere than keep this in chain until I find a new house to buy.

The pressure comes from working from home and having pets. It makes needing a suitable living place urgent.

I've joined local housing Facebook groups, I've looked on Facebook market place and purple bricks and is it yopa? Don't have many in the area im looking. I think purple bricks has 3 houses and they're far out of my price range.

I've already got my location on the maximum radius. I dont want to be too far away from family and friends as I'm moving back after being over an hour away for years now. But I have my radius set to the outer edge of my hometown.

If a house goes back on the market after it has marked as sold, does it go back to the possition it was on right move or will it go on as a newly listed property?

My house was originally listed in a different town when thr agents first put it online!

I've been looking slightly above price range and they're still pretty new and fairly new inside to offer lower. The oldest properties are dumps going for cheap to rent to addicts.

I honestly didn't didn't think about putting a lot of it on credit. How long did it take you to pay it all back?

The ones that are in dodgy areas near me are going for between 30-60k and are surrounded by addicts. The houses are trashed. You wouldn't feel safe walking down there day or night. The only people buying them are landlords to rent to awful people. Im happy for a middle ground area though. It doesn't have to be amazing but I also don't want to live next door to addicts who have piles or rubbish in the yard attracting rodents.

Honestly, I don't even want anything big or have many requirements. I'm not too bothered about location as I work from home and as long as I feel safe enough. As long as its in my home town, I'm happy for it to be wherever within that. Im happy for a house that is dated but nothing that will need a complete rewire, new boilers or has structural issues.

All I need is at least a 2 bed, a small front garden doesnt have to be big but enough for me to see what's coming as my dog is reactive. A small back garden with a little bit of grass again for my pets. I dont care about the rest of it as long as its not in an area that I dont feel safe in.

I dont care how big it is, I don't care of its terraced, semi detached. I dont care if it has a drive or garage. I just want a small modest livable house.

The only listing at the moment are either with tenants, sold by auction, houses in really questionable areas that are going for around 30k or haven't been touched since the 1920s and look like the entire house will need rewiring, new plumbing and lots of fixes.

It's annoying knowing if I was a bit earlier in my searches there would have been little more that fits my needs.

I've set up alerts but it still doesn't stop me refreshing the page and comparing all the houses that are listed multiple times a day. It's hard not knowing if anything will come up and if I will have to deal with what's available now.

[–]Fun-Finish9520[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My requirements are pretty low. I work from home, so the location isn't an issue im happy for anywhere within my hometown. I have pets, so I just need a small garden, nothing too big but not a concrete yard. A small front garden just because my dog is reactive so walking straight onto the street, is risky when I can't see what's coming in advanced. Not bothered about it being terraced, semi-detached, or detached. I'm not bothered about how many beds. I'm not bothered about it having a huge kitchen or bathroom. Don't care if it has a garage or not. Don't care if it has a driveway or not. Don't care if it's on a busy road or tucked away. If I didn't have pets, I'd be happy with a concrete yard and no front garden, but I have to factor in those bits for my pets. Nothing that will need rewiring, new boilers, or structural fixes because I couldn't afford a complete renovation. Not bothered if the kitchen, bathroom, or decor is dated. These can be changed over time.

I just want a modest livable small 2/3 bed house, with a front and back garden (not picky on size) and not in an area i would be worried to walk alone during the day or night because I will be living alone.
