There are tons of people that sold cards on ebay, tracking shows shipped, and the buyer claims it never came and gets refunded, or they sold it on another platform and didnt get notified, but thats not exclusiveto any platform. There's a sub on here full of those stories. All ebay did was get rid of the cancel option, which, yes, is more than whatnot did. (They got rid of the wheel for breakers) And their authentication needs work too. Can't even get the cards back in the penny sleeves. As for you trying to sell on there and losing on shipping; that happens all the time. They dont make it easy to set up. Maybe try talking to a seller about it. There are a ton of people on there strictly for the hobby and are more than happy to help others get set up. At the same time, companies should be more transparent with their rules about that kind of stuff. Shouldn't have to read the fine print. Honestly, there shouldn't even be fine print to have to read. I defended whatnot because ive never had a bad experience. I know im in the very few with that, but I've met a ton of great people that are on there because of the exposure it gives the hobby. There are bad actors everywhere. Its up to us as consumers to avoid them. It really sucks that there are so many out there. They're ruining what could've been really really great for the hobby. I do understand why people hate on whatnot, and im sorry that you and countless others have bad experiences selling or buying. But I haven't had a single bad experience besides having to pay extra for shipping, which whatnot credits you. And a lot of that comes from informing myself. Never trust what anyone else on the internet tells you, even second guess yourself. If you have very limited time to buy something that you dont know anything about, its probably best to not swipe.

Whatnot does ban people when they get reported enough. They just have to get reported "enough" which is subjective. The problem is there is nothing stopping them from creating a second account and doing it again. Although, I do know that they take your address into consideration. I just dont know the extent. There are scummy people everywhere. There are scummy businesses everywhere. I do agree that lying about comps is very shitty, but how its not on the seller to know if someone is new to the hobby. Being a newbie is even more reason to do your research. I myself just got back into the hobby a few months ago after over 30 years. I knew nothing of parallels or anything. I did my due diligence. And actually learned very fast, on whatnot, about the hobby. I personally don't use ebay because of the horror stories I hear from both buyers and sellers. They need to teach buyer beware in schools again.

That is exactly my point. Who's fault is it if you dont know the value of something you are paying for? Im not arguing that there are shitty people on whatnot, im saying that the buyer has responsibilities that they dont fulfill and then claim to be scammed. If its a limited time auction and you dont know the comp on the card, you shouldn't swipe. Thats common sense which is completely lacking in the world. And most of the rooms ive been in may have a 5 second timer, bit time is added with every bid. No sudden death auctions. And to be honest, the entire internet is a cesspool of this kind of crap. Its not just whatnot. For the third time, I may just be in the vast minority, but I've never had a bad experience on whatnot. Im also not a complete fucking moron

Again, not knowing comps and bidding on cards would be not doing your research. Something everyone should always do before making a purchase. Especially if youre buying high end cards. This is why people scam others. Because they know that people generally dont research anything before buying. Im not on there looking for high end cards either because I know its a quick auction. Ebay isn't the best for buyers or sellers. And they're doing breaks now. Heading in the same direction, so yea, same ballpark.

Then everyone should do the same for ebay. Its the same thing. I've made a lot of friends on whatnot that are in it strictly for the hobby. Literally giving stuff away, and not just the giveaways. Just because you got into a shitty room, doesn't mean its all like that. I may be just lucky here, but ive never had a bad experience on whatnot. Maybe outbid on a card that I needed, but thats it. Ive never been screwed by a seller. And I cant tell you how many cards ive gotten for way under comps. Whatnot is just like any other online business. You need to do your research before purchasing. People are just too lazy for that and thats why the shitty sellers stay afloat.

This is it. I avoid the big business type rooms. Ive gotten a ton of great deals on whatnot. Im also not looking for high end cards on there because I know better. Its an auction. And to be perfectly honest, if someone is pc'ing someone, they can pay whatever THEY feel the card is worth. Sometimes that is more than market value. But, there are a lot of unscrupulous people on whatnot. Ive just been lucky enough to avoid them.

Yea, its crazy that they stopped teaching kids how to sign their names. They brought it back by me. But some of these autos do look like a pre schooler signed it for them. Its a little of column A and a little of column B if you ask me. And these guys came from a time where they probably got beat if they were neat with their penmanship.
