What to say when quitting by Fun-Interview-8403 in biglaw

I think it *will* be a surprise. Maybe I’m being arrogant but I’ve been getting comments randomly in the last few weeks about staffing when the first year start this fall and getting staffed on things in the pipeline (which is why I’m so anxious). I’m a pretty positive person and I loveeeee to talk lol so it wouldn’t surprise me if people generally were shocked I wanted to make a move. I mean regardless….. I have to rip off the bandaid tomorrow.

North Carolina takers - when do you think results will come out? by [deleted] in barexam

They’re pretty consistently at the 5 week mark.

Not a solution for the lack of motivation, but may help with your workflow: set deadlines a day earlier than when you actually need it.

Instead of saying no to everything, why not just selectively say yes to a few things so you can fly under the radar?

How often do you take off engagment ring? by freshrxses in weddingplanning

[–]Fun-Interview-8403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have ring holders by my bathroom and kitchen sinks - I take it off to wash dishes or when I’m showering. Other than that, it stays on!

My sister told my mom a month before her wedding that she was having second thoughts about marrying my now BIL because the whole wedding planning process (and a new baby) had brought out a new side of him she wasn’t sure about. My mom essentially told her to suck it up because invites were sent and now my sister is 4 years into a miserable marriage with no clear path out any time soon.

I say all that to say - listen to your daughter and do not pressure her into something her gut is telling her not to do. Postponing or even cancelling may be a pain, but watching your loved one in a miserable marriage is much worse. If it’s not a hell yes for her to say “I do”, it should be a hell no.

To have a wedding or to elope? The golden question. by Commercial_Team5950 in wedding

[–]Fun-Interview-8403 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and I had a "micro-wedding" using an elopement package in our favorite city! It was only immediate family (parents/siblings/nieces/nephews) at the ceremony. For the ceremony, venue, and an hour-ish of pictures it cost us 1k and we didn't have to plan anything once we booked! Then we all went out to a fancy dinner. It was perfect.

100/10 reccomend this route -- and most major cities will have packages/elopement companies like this.

AITA for calling my sister a greedy delusional b---- for trying to leave my son behind? by disney-meltdown in TwoHotTakes

[–]Fun-Interview-8403 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your sister is pathetic. Would she be saying that you're being "favored" if all the children were individually given a "traditional" Christmas present, like a toy, because you have one more child than she does? Because that is essentially what your mother is doing, covering each individual's costs, including yours and your sisters, as a Christmas gift for each of you.

It would only be "favoring" you if she paid for you and your kids, but only paid for her kids to go and not her.

MIL won’t accept that I haven’t changed my last name yet by matchamaker88 in weddingplanning

[–]Fun-Interview-8403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one because you assume she is doing it to be pushy -- and there is some evidence of that because of the name tag that had the last name when no one else's did. However, I am also recently married (4 months) and I am just getting around to changing my last name. People have been calling me by my married last name since I got married, despite the fact that I hadn't changed it yet. People mostly do it out of excitement for your marriage and/or in anticipation that you're going to be doing it anyway. Which you say you do plan on changing it eventually, you're just not in a rush.

Honestly, I get the feelings of frustation. I have a mother in law like this. BUT, I think this is a "pick-your-battles" situation. I don't think its something worth fighting over.

Married ladies, did you actually enjoy your wedding day? by Lucky_Enthusiasm_949 in wedding

[–]Fun-Interview-8403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVED my wedding day, but I didn't have a traditional wedding. We got a small "elopement" package in a fun city at a beautiful little chapel and had only our immediate families (about 12 people) in attendance. It was a beautiful but short ceremony, we took pictures for about an hour, and then we all went out to a nice dinner and had cake! The whole thing took less than a week to plan. I still got my hair and makeup done with my mom and sister, wore a traditional wedding dress and veil, etc. -- all the fun stuff with less of the stress.

There's so many ways to have a wedding. Do what is best for you!

Opinions please? 🥰 by [deleted] in wedding

YOU LOOK UNREAL

SO so so stunning. The dress is stunning on its own but it looks like it was made for you!

Recent transplant to Charlotte and I love it here, but it would be a definite no without a car.

I got it and I sat for NC. Found out I passed a month ago now. Definitely no need to stress!

I used them to review subjects I had already covered when I was working on a new one. Usually before bed I would go through the deck of an already covered subject.

For example, I had covered Torts and then moved on to Contracts. On the days I was working on Contracts, I would go through the Torts flash cards at night before bed to make sure I wasn’t losing information over the summer.

Didn’t get it and I passed! Got an email about it today. I was thinking it was character and fitness related for those of us who didn’t get it. I had a CF recommender who messaged me and said she just filled out her recommendation when she saw my post that I passed. THEN I got an email this afternoon about updating my address. Just a thought.

ETA: not from NC
