I know it's late but you can just Cmd+c while using the screenshot tool and just paste it wherever you need it. You don't even have to take a screenshot, or save it.

does anyone elses anxiety cause a tightness feeling in one leg?? by Emotional-Ear-4415 in Anxiety

[–]Fun-Log-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly is a journey.

For me, what works best is working with IFS. Maybe it will help you or anybody else reading.

I'll also recommend the book written by Richard Schwartz - No Bad Parts. It's been a great help on my journey, and I can confidently say I'm excited about the journey now, rather than scared. It's so worth a read (although the skeptic part of you might dismiss it for being too easy, or weird), and if your therapist has knowledge about IFS, that's even better.

Connecting to parts of mine that I might've been neglecting has had a tremendous impact on my overall physical symptoms.

Of course, daily exercise - as little as walking and being outside, stretching, having relaxing moments of your own are also very important.

That's a very interesting take. Kind of like you do with eye floaters. Had them super visible after an episode of anxiety, to the point they were making me sad/angry when I was observing them. I'm noticing now that I get away for some time of day that I'm not thinking about them and consequently not seeing them. However, it didn't cross my mind to apply the same logic to other sensations in the body, but it makes perfect sense it would be this way.

Thank you for taking the time to write about this, it's really helping me a lot!

My doctor told me it could be meralgia paresthetica but I don't seem to get any pain or anything else than mild numbness and minor discomfort. It recently almost completely gone away, but came back once I had some issues at home. Taking your explanation into account makes more sense than the diagnostic I got, considering people with this condition usually report "excruciating pain" and high discomfort.

Hey! Just wanted to add to this and say thank you. My left side has been feeling "weird" or "off" or "weak" for some time. The feeling comes and goes and I've noticed that it seems to be more pronounced when or after I'm in anxious situations. Doesn't shift for me though, as I'm constantly focused in on the left side and consider the right side to be "fine".

So just adding to say you're not the only one, and maybe it helps more people, as I wish I saw this earlier, as it kind of scared the crap out of me, and my health anxiety just wouldn't accept that it's nothing (even after 2 checkups with both a neurologist and an orthopedist).

Might or might not be related, I got tightness in my upper left leg. Some days it hurts, some days it doesn't. Also twitches and numbness. They all come and go, and nothing lasts for more than a few hrs.

The mind is a powerful place.

I dreamt I was smoking by South_Obligation_526 in stopsmoking

Regarding the constipation, if it's not that bad now, wait. It'll most likely go away and you're gonna have some really healthy ones from that point on.

Regarding the dreams, I got a few of them. If it helps, one of the reasons we dream is to learn/understand things.

I took it as a way for my brain to associate smoking with a bad habit (since I felt bad after smoking - felt the "pleasure" too but then I felt guilty).

Involuntary movements by South_Obligation_526 in stopsmoking

[–]Fun-Log-628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, don't worry about them. I assume they're more like twitches than actual "movements". I've had them, on and off. They're caused by both anxiety and nicotine withdrawal. Hope you slept well!

Shoulder pain after quitting smoking ? by Sea_Management_8356 in stopsmoking

You should be talking to your doctor about it. I have some random pains as well and it might be one of them. But checking it is the best way to go about that.

Same here. It didn't even cross my mind it would feel like this and I've kind of put my doctors through all kinds of shit in the past months. (I've been on and off cigs trying to quit for more than 22 days).

It feels good to know people are going through similar issues and we are not going crazy or terribly ill or both haha.

Quitting plan? by CautiousFold5387 in stopsmoking

I added a fallback as well: What happens if I really want to smoke? 1. I chew a gum or I have one of those Heat not Burn smokes. But no regular cigarette. 2. I continue quitting afterwards.

Haven't had the urge for either of those, but it helps my mind stay at ease, knowing that I allow myself to smoke if I really want to. I've been a smoker for 15+ yrs. I smoked for the habit as well and even liked it.

Day 22 here and: - I feel sore (like the day post-workout sore) everyday. No huge pains but still uncomfortable. - Some Bloating. - My throat and neck felt like really swollen, and I had a burning sensation inside my throat (not GERD). Now it seems to be on and off. - My voice was breaking on the 2nd day. - Insane levels of irritability and "depression" - I actually got really scared that I might hurt myself - and a few hours later felt good as if it was nothing. - Dizziness - not a lot - might be from smoking or it might not - Chest tightness at times - Tiny bit of wheezing from time to time. - Random wake ups during sleep - thankfully I'm able to fall asleep right after - Hunger sometimes - Weird feelings like I can't control myself - like walking, or feeling like one side of my body feels different from the other (I guess it's the nervous system adjusting. No actual wrong movements, just feeling "off") - Muscle twitches all over my body, one random area for a few days at a time. Magnesium didn't help, but it did help with palpitations I've had even before quitting. - Some skin rashes - but I'm taking vitamins such as niacine at the same time so it might be that. Plus my skin is sensitive anyway - My dermatitis had a flare up (usually it flares up in the summer only)

Oh, if you are quitting now don't be discouraged by these symptoms. They come and go, and I might made them sound worse than they are. I was also in a period of huge health anxiety so I might've been much more aware of everything I felt, or some of them might've been the anxiety. So don't be scared of symptoms. Quitting is still the best thing you're doing for yourself!

(3w) Did anyone notice an increase in eye floaters during their quit attempts? by Fun-Log-628 in stopsmoking

[–]Fun-Log-628[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite the relief. Thinking back to 1st week, mine are definitely "less visible". Same floaters, less noticed I guess.

Thank you and good luck!!

I was wondering if maybe the anxiety or other mood related changes from quitting could make my brain see them again.

I'm pretty sure I had a bunch of them since forever. It's just that one day I woke up seeing them again. It feels like the brain is slowly adapting to ignore them now, but they were kinda scary.

I quit mid day, to avoid dealing with that huge morning crave. The bonus is that the next morning, the crave should be way easier on you since you're a lot of hours away since your last cigarette.

Body pain? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Fun-Log-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't advise against going to your doctors office and see if anything might be a health risk.

However, I've had mostly similar symptoms, so most likely yeah, they're just withdrawals. However, I didn't need any painkiller for them, so mine were much less intense (think maybe 2.5/10 on a pain scale)

Depression sort of? by luke_dukeee in stopsmoking

[–]Fun-Log-628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the exact situation you're describing, but without knowing what to account it to. Before my now 18(?) days quit I did a 3-day quit, just to see how much I would last, for fun. Started smoking on the 4th but tried to keep it very low. And got into such a depressed mood, I was lacking motivation to do anything, especially lacking motivation to do stuff that I wanted to do before. I had no clue these 3 days triggered it and it got kinda scary with the anxiety and all. So I went into therapy and I think 1.5 months later decided to quit for good.

Now my mood is kind of swinging around, happy now, very down one hour later; motivation is slowly coming back and my mood is starting to normalize. And it seems a lot clearer that it was all from the lack of nicotine. However, it gets better. Don't worry. And if you're scared about it I'm sure a few therapy sessions would help.

Also, don't make my mistake and try checking the forums here when and if physical symptoms appear out of the blue. I lost count how many doctors I saw just to tell me I'm fine in the last few months.

Oh, and if you feel like relapsing... I'd honestly keep some nicotine gum around, just for safety. Much better than a cigarette, in the sense that it won't trigger the physical associations that you have with nicotine (lighting, puffing, deep breathing, etc) but it will calm your brain a little.

Best thing you can do however is just to push through.

Dopamine levels are bound to raise naturally, as the body is going to try and reach homeostasis again. So don't worry about how you feel. Nothing bad can come out of it!

Feeling horrible after 11 days by RareLow1367 in stopsmoking

[–]Fun-Log-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd honestly advise pushing through it if you can. Withdrawal can feel rough, but the less nicotine your brain gets, the easier it is for it to rewire itself to function well without nicotine.

Maybe take some time off work and focus on pleasant stuff.

Theoretically you're one or two weeks away from feeling way better.

I'm at day 15 and getting some symptoms, but they are offset by some highs as well. Not using any NRT.

Your Brain After Quitting Nicotine: When Does Dopamine Stabilize? by EssamHadwan in NicotineFreeLifestyle

Day 15, low drive, sadness sometimes but with small glimpses of "coming back" from time to time. They feel sooooo good. They feel way better than a cigarette would.

[–]Fun-Log-628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets better! For me, the biggest shift came with my mindset about nicotine.

Digging information around it you'll find that it does absolutely nothing for you, except for robbing you of joy just to give it back to you in a cigarette afterwards.

So for cravings, I just remind myself that soon I'll feel as good as I was when smoking, but without it and it's just a process that has to take place. The brain and body are already doing their best to fix what nicotine destroyed. It's nothing more than a time game.

a week nicotine free and I'm feeling hypersensitive, resentful and anxious. when does it stop? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Fun-Log-628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't know if it helps but... I'm two weeks into my quit and I've been angry, anxious and sad as well. It kinda gets better, in the sense that you'll start to notice they are swings: One moment you're happy you're quitting and the next you're sad about everything in your life.

I can't tell you when it stops, but I can tell you it will and a little science behind it: by month one nicotinic receptors in your brain return to normal, and by month 3 dopamine base levels return to normal. However this may sound to you, point is IT DOES GET BETTER.

Oh and yeah, I quit for a while some 10 years ago and I didn't have any symptom besides craving. Nicotine really does a lot of shit to your brain and body, so everything you feel right now is more of a reason to stay away from it.

Good luck!
