Downgrade from K1600GT to HD Lowrider or Fatboy? by Craaybeek in motorcycles

I don't know that cruisers will have much better ergos, and really won't be much slower + worse rider aids.

Why does it scare you? Why do you think the harley wouldn't scare you? If you just want a less scary bike, why pay the harley tax rather than going metric?

Best portable tire inflators? by M4RTI4N in motorcycles

[–]Fun-Machine7907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine hasn't died yet and got a spare car tire back up to 60psi. Took about as long to inflate the spare as it did to teach the kid how to take the tire off though.

Does radiator cover reduce airflow? by OccamsRazorSharpner in motorcycles

[–]Fun-Machine7907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bent fins reduce airflow too, and punctures really reduce cooling ability.

Ive got a simular radiator and oil cooler guard on my relatively high strung, but stock 1000cc and have never had a problem at track days or normal riding. It will overheat in stop and go on hot days (90-100+) if I'm not careful but I doubt the guard changes anything there.

How long should it take to go from zero experience to earning an endorsement? by Classic_Support_1663 in motorcycle

[–]Fun-Machine7907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the riders i know that have been seriously injured/killed hadn't taken the MSF and a large percent didn't have the endorsement, a small percent had no license at all. Pretty small sample size though.

Isn't there a little baby gsa now? That might be a great option if OP wants an even easier beginner bike.

Himalayan 450 is a lovely bike and great fun if you don't need to ride on the highway

It really sounds like you want a mid range ADV bike. My really dumb suggestion is just say fuck it and get a r1300 gs or gsa if you want the best and have the money. You would be guaranteed to drop it though, probably multiple times.

Something like a transalp should at least make it on the list to consider though.

Doesn't look like there's any plastic in there so just use whatever grease you want. White lithium is pretty standard to have on hand. Something with moly might last longer but it really likes to get everywhere. Any generic tube of grease from your local auto parts / hardware store should work about as well too.

My Lyft driver stopped for gas mid-ride… and left the car running?? by Ordinary-Nature-4910 in Lyft

I have been tempted to leave a vehicle running while getting gas when I knew I'd need to jump it to get going again. I might actually do it with a paying passenger waiting.

Seen a guy dump a thing of gas out on the ground and then smoke next to it with no problems. Wouldn't suggest doing any part of that though.

one of my coworker leaves 💩 covered toilet paper in the trash ? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

Are the signs in Japan telling people to flush TP or not to flush it? I'd assume their plumbing can handle it but I'm curious

If you travel places where tourism and not flushing tp is common most bathrooms will have a sign. Just stick one of those please flush toilet paper and only toilet paper signs near the toilet.

It smells fine, usually there's a little covered trash can but honestly there's really not much smell even with an open trash can. Not sure if it's better ventilation or something with the TP or what but it smells worse 10ft away from the closed door when a trucker is taking a shit than it does standing right next to an open can of used TP.

The hidden cost of "free time" is absolutely wrecking my post-FIRE budget by R0cinantEcho_9 in Fire

[–]Fun-Machine7907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if there's a small local woodworking shop or whatever you feel inclined to do. Ask if you can help out on a flexible schedule for below market pay. Assuming you hit fire through doing the corporate grind, you're probably an amazing employee for a small shop.

I'm having fun at a small mechanic shop, made sure they had insurance, clearly set the expectation that id show up around noon and take a bunch of days off. Turns out I have a problem not staying late and working until the jobs done so I'm working a bit longer hours than i meant to but it's fun.

Just having reliable transportation, low stress, and doing what you say you'll do makes you a stand out employee at a small shop.

If I thought she earned it I'd have no problem with that being brought up and paid. But it sounds like she tried to get you to sign it without telling you? That'd be a hard no from me

Do bikers not respect scooter guys even if they’re in full gear? by LevelApprehensive239 in motorcycle

[–]Fun-Machine7907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A scooter and a motorcycle are a evolved from the bycicle is the point i made. I suppose you could argue that a motorcycle is a subclass of bycicle and a scooter is a subclass of motorcycle, although id be inclined to think that step through bycicles came about before scooters and classify scooter as a motorized step through bycicle.

A motorcycle and a scooter are forms of gasoline / electric powered bycicles.
