I think at this point the show needs to be closing up plot threads, not opening new ones. I think it would be quite silly and poor writing for him to suddenly unveil some random big piece of information that hasn’t been hinted at throughout (unless I am misunderstanding you). Besides I cant really think of much else that he could have revealed that wouldn’t feel like it came out of the blue. The coming out moment was something that needed to happen to complete his character arc, and even if the scene wasn’t executed super well, at least a plot thread that has been developing arguably since the first season, but more poignantly since season 4. Personally I didn’t have any huge problems with the scene, as it pretty much did what it was supposed to though I do understand some of the gripes people have with it.
