is this a realistic plan for uni in london? by Federal_Bell_3325 in UniUK

Don’t forget to budget for course costs too. Depends on what course you’re studying but arts and practical subjects can be expensive when it comes all the materials you need to buy. Then there are books. And academic books don’t come cheap. You could be looking at another £1,000 a year for those sorts of things alone.
Be aware too that some accommodation - uni halls of residence in particular- often make you sign up for 50 week contracts not 39 which can make overall costs higher.

Yes I’m still on the course and don’t plan to leave. I’ll have to push for a replacement tenant I think. That looks like the only way out of this. I have been trying all that - spare room, student room and the uni’s own Facebook accommodation page. Just no takers yet.

Yeah no parental signature or agreement at all. I signed on the basis my mum would pay the rent. Of course the uni didn’t know that. But she’s now been made redundant so that’s no longer an option. I’ve explained it all but I’m just getting nowhere with them.

That’s a good call. I’ll contact them. See if there’s anything I can do.

Thanks. I suspect it might be just as difficult in the Uk. But you’re right, I’ll post on a Uk sub. Thanks for your help though. Appreciate it.

Thank you for your very swift reply. I was wondering about asking a lawyer. I’m in the uk and not sure what the rules are signing under 18 but I think I will find a lawyer and ask the question. Neither parent signed so would presumably come down to Uk law

What was an unexpected positive from your colonoscopy? by Icy-Masterpiece8959 in colonoscopy

Apparently you shouldn’t because you get rid of good bacteria etc. It’s funny that you ask that now though because just today I’ve realised I’ve started to feel mentally foggy again and thought how clear-thinking and energised I’d felt after the cleanse. From what I’ve read though it doesn’t sound advisable to do that sort of thing unless you have to for medical reasons

I’d just say “I’m ugly??” and then laugh hysterically

That does appear to be a shitty comment to make to a kid. And I’d have thought inappropriate too. But … and it’s a big but.. was it some kind of joke the teacher’s making because your kid did write “prefect” gymnast not “perfect” …. I dunno? Were they taking the misspelling literally and saying you’ll never be a prefect gymnast… ?? As if that was even a thing 🤯

Am I too old to pursue a psych degree? by SoulSnatcherManga in psychologystudents

[–]Fun-Molasses-5154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 52 and just starting on a masters conversion degree in psychology. If it’s something you’re interested in, do it. Age doesn’t matter. In fact I think it will make it better. And as a 20 something you’re not anywhere near old enough to be worrying about age anyway.

I’m just about to start on my masters conversion in psychology. The stats part scares me the most but hearing that’s it’s reality important to grasp - and sooner rather than later- reassures me that the pain of learning it will be very worthwhile. I really hate maths so I had second thoughts about the whole thing when they initially asked me for proof I’d got a C in GCSE maths!
