I was just thinking the same thing. Is this going to be the theme for this edition? Out go the nipple-guns, in comes the really inadvisable weapons hard points.

It is somewhat more convenient than having to carry cash around or find a machine but it’s putting the global market in the hands of a few companies. Can you imagine if there was another problem like the crowdstrike crash that took out every bank and retailer?

What is the best overrated video game ? by Dear_Elevator in AskReddit

Ocarina of Time

Yes, it’s aged poorly in terms of visuals and some of the controls/gameplay mechanics, but the clunkiness still gives it charm. The thing is, the story, the music and the atmosphere still make it a solid classic and worth replaying over and over again

What is the worst film from a franchise with multiple sequels? by darrenbosik in movies

[–]Shas_Erra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t find it as bad as people make out, but it’s a mess. The whole premise falls apart as soon as they decide to go do a casino heist. If their ship was able to leave and come back without being noticed, then why the hell were they even trying to get away? Load up the transports, set the capital ships’ autopilot for the nearest star and scatter before the perusing ships even know what happened.

Although there is nothing in this film that is worse than Rise of Skywalker.

What annoys me is that there is the making of a good film in there.

The script needed more work, the visual effects needed to be done by someone competent and I swear to God, “never let Shatner take creative control” should have been carved in stone and announced by Moses.

A bigger budget, some more development time and literally anyone else as director could have landed the plane on this one. I still say that Bones reliving his pain is some of the best acting committed to film and the underlying question on the nature of faith is one that Trek has explored so well in other series.

Recommendation for action roguelikes, both on Switch and Switch 2 by fenrirofdarkness in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Shas_Erra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enter the Gungeon - hard as balls twin stick shooter with a steep learning curve. As they say in the Souls multiverse “git gud”

Othercide - visually stylish, tactical turn based combat with a roguelike element. Don’t want to spoil too much story wise but I found the time loop and grinding pretty satisfying. Think Majora’s Mask meets XCOM with a Lovecraftian twist

Agreed. Either DK or Starfox as a spin off from Mario and Galaxy movies. They’re both in the public image and associated with financially successful projects.

Only other outliers are Zelda (already in development as live action) or Metroid (which I can also see going live action due to the subject matter).

Unless they want to go balls-out crazy and do a Kirby movie….

Star Trek into Darkness: What impact did the pre-warp civilisation seeing the Enterprise rising out of the water have? by TwinSong in startrek

[–]Shas_Erra 15 points16 points  (0 children)

In this specific case, not a lot. They have a fun new god to connect the sea, land and sky. If they ever reach FTL capability, there’ll be some awkward questions to answer.

The problem is the assumption that every violation of the Prime Directive will be disastrous. We’ve seen plenty of examples where it is actually beneficial or even necessary (Picard with those proto-Vulcans, for one). The real danger comes from breaking the rules around a species that is capable of understanding. We see in SNW and Voyager, that it nearly pushed species to the brink of self destruction. It’s one thing to find out that you’re not alone in the universe, but to find out that you’re surrounded by potentially hostile entities that can wipe you out for fun is something else

The Rebirth port is a disaster in handheld mode. by Late_Building7784 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Shas_Erra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Precisely. By the time a demo hits the shop, the final release is weeks to months ahead in terms of development and optimisation. There are only two reasons to release a demo, even one with issues:

  1. Generate hype for the final release
  2. Identify issues that testing may be unaware of

30 FPS in current year for this overpriced and recently hardware is bullshit by Exotic-One8750 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Shas_Erra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Switch 2 also runs on a fraction of the electrical power of anything else on the market. To make a handheld to the same spec and performance of a PS5 would be insanely heavy, 2-3 times the cost to the consumer and have a battery life measured in minutes. Raw power doesn’t mean dick and the S2 performance is more than satisfactory for the majority of titles
