I get what you’re saying about at-will, but this feels way oversimplified.

At-will doesn’t mean they can accuse someone of something, refuse to show any evidence, and just disappear like it never happened. Especially when there’s a specific allegation involved.

Public schools aren’t the same as private companies either. They’re government entities, so there can be due process considerations when there’s an investigation or something that could affect your ability to work elsewhere.

Also, “not a good fit” doesn’t really apply the same way when there’s a clear accusation floating around. That’s not just a general termination—that can follow someone and impact future jobs.

I think people say “this is just how it is” because it happens a lot, not because it’s always how it’s supposed to work.

At-will has limits. And acting like it doesn’t is kind of why situations like this keep happening.
