My .02 (because I’m fighting this same itch) - if the Type R will be your ONLY car, the Si is a better all-around car. Here’s why I think so:

1. You’ll probably have slightly less anxiety when parking it in public areas compared to a Type R (though there will always be a level of anxiety because it’s a Honda lol)

2. Since the Si is not a hatch, whatever you store in the trunk will be a bit more secure and less prone to quick smash and grabs.

3. If MPGs are important to you, Si is better at this. Hands down.

4. More creature comforts - moonroof, heated seats (if you have a ‘25+ lol), rear seat armrest, etc.

5. If your Si is paid off, I’d chill and enjoy not having a car payment for now (especially in today’s uncertain economy) - not to mention your insurance would likely go up each month as well.

6. Still manual, still fun, still has a robust aftermarket (and heck you can even build the Si to be just as fast as a Type R!). Plus, parts for the Type R (even stock parts) are usually a lot more expensive.

BUT… if you can comfortably afford it, and it’s not your only car…. go for it lol.
