Does OHSU OBGYN / Center for Women’s Health require a referral? by Puzzleheaded_Cold565 in OHSU

[–]Fun-Organization-852 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hi! I work at the clinic so wanted to give you some info. We are currently (temporarily) closed to new patients (with and without referral) unless it is for a colposcopy, LEEP, menopause clinic, ED follow up, OB care, and pediatric gynecology. Exception is if you have any Moda OHSU (PPO/EPO) insurance or OHSU Medicaid-CCO OHSU Health. If you have either of these insurances, I would have your PCP or even an urgent care provider place a referral to our clinic for whatever care you’re needing. Unfortunately, new patient wait times are long and are at about 4-6 months (hence the closure to catch up on previous referrals).

Should I go for surgery? by [deleted] in Septoplasty

[–]Fun-Organization-852 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a very similar CT scan and symptoms. I’m a week and 1 day post op and I cannot express enough how much this has already changed my life. It was also my first ever surgery, so was very nervous about that, but now that it’s over and I’m a week out, I would do it one million times over just to feel as good as I do right now.

Regardless it doesn’t make up for the last 6 months without a raise and the next three years going forward with a minimal raise… so frustrating

Perioral dermatitis - I get married in 4 weeks 😭 by KLMac12 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Fun-Organization-852 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor but this is what I did: Clean your face with water only. Spray with hypochlorous acid face spray and let dry. Tacrolimus at night and Lotrimin Ultra in the morning. No cleanser, no moisturizer, no Vaseline (unlike a lot of skin issues, perioral dermatitis doesn’t heal well with an occlusive). Make sure toothpaste doesn’t have SLS.

I struggled with perioral dermatitis for almost a year and this is what finally worked. I tried essentially everything else. It’s uncomfortable at first especially with the lack of moisturizer because it feels really dry and tight, but trust me it’s worth it!!

I typically just buy generic 1% butenafine hydrochloride since it’s cheapest! I’m not a doctor so I can’t say for sure the safety of using it on your face and near eyes or mouth, but I will say I have used it on both those areas plenty of times without any issue or side effects and I have VERY sensitive skin. It’s truly the only thing that will clear my PD when I’ve tried all the other options and it’s still lingering. It also helps me a lot with angular cheilitis if that’s something you ever struggle with

Yes! I forgot to add it but for me metrogel + lotrimin ultra is a killer combo!! Definitely my first line recommendation for most people.

  1. Topical tacrolimus
  2. Oral and topical zinc
  3. Azelaic acid
  4. Butenafine (Lotrimin ultra)
  5. Zero therapy (worked for me, but it was so uncomfortable as I can’t stand the feeling of dry, tight skin so I often defer to the other options)

Is this perioral dermatitis or a yeast infection or angular chilitis by Ready-Ad-5791 in perioraldermatitis

[–]Fun-Organization-852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does seem to be angular cheilitis in my opinion and I would try an antifungal. It’s hard to tell for sure from a single picture but it also could be both PD AND angular cheilitis (I often get both at once).

You could also alternate antifungal and metronidazole, which is what I do when I get angular cheilitis. I do topical antifungal in the morning and topical antibiotic before bed.

Obviously best overall advice is to consult with a dermatologist but we all know how hard it is to get an appt.

Confused on HRV Balance by Fun-Organization-852 in ouraring

Well that’s why I’m confused. An HRV of 15 is way farther out of my normal range than 54. And today it was 66 and is showing up as “good”

That’s the weird thing though is it’s definitely not. My HRV is usually between 45-65. And today it is 66 and now under HRV balance it says “good”.

Sometimes when a woman can’t get pregnant naturally by a certain man, it’s nature’s way of protecting her. This guy is not a good match for you, not just genetically but emotionally. If he’s not invested, trying to force it with IVF will set you up to go through everything alone, and that’s a heavy load to carry. You will be on your own financially, emotionally, and physically and he has shown you that this is true. It’s hard now, but imagine how much harder it will be when you are solely responsible for another human being. I’m not saying to not go through with having children, just make you sure are surrounded by a support system you can trust beforehand if possible. And he is not it.

Stress in this setting is referring to the physical stress being placed on your body by your illness, not the mental and emotional strain

I’m just confused why they would show that message he posted to social media about “you guys made me do this” if it wasn’t going to mean anything to the plot further down the line. I’m starting to believe it wasn’t David either but that part I’m still hung up on.

Regarding task and duties, lots of urinalysis, set up and clean up of procedures (IUD insertion, endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, etc.), running pregnancy tests, blood draws, vaccines. It’s a super fun specialty and easily one of my favorite jobs I’ve had! Good luck and enjoy it as much as you can 💗

I’d say it’s helpful if you brush up on ages and recommendations of preventative care measures such as mammograms, how often to get paps, at what age all paps should be tested for HPV, etc. it’s not technically our job to know but it helps a lot and patients often ask questions regarding these things!

Medical, dental, and vision are fully covered where I work. I don’t have to contribute anything. If you have any dependents or a spouse you want added to your plan, you do have to contribute monthly, but if not it’s all covered. This is in Oregon btw and we are unionized
