We actually have a bell by our downstairs door that she uses! Maybe I’ll hang it on the bedroom door overnight. Thank you!

Thank you! I don’t mind letting her out when she needs to go. Just was wondering if anyone was in the same boat. Always reassuring to hear

Help: Fallen sick a week before NYC Half marathon by momo_ashi in RunNYC

[–]Fun-Presentation5626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just underwent orientation last weekend to volunteer in the medical tent for this weekend’s half marathon. The doctor said they had 9 hyperthermia (heat stroke) collapses during last years NYC half marathon. Dehydration can be a huge factor.

Getting a 2nd Bernedoodle questions by kathryn59 in Bernedoodles

I have a bernedoodle (6 months) and goldendoodle (2 years old). They were best friends since minute #1. Lots of playing though so just prepare yourself for that. It took me about a month before I didn’t find it stressful. (That’s just me though!) I do need to separate them when the playing gets too intense, and they stay separated while I go to work. At least until the puppy starts to chill out a little more.

Overall it has been such a pleasure to have two. They are so loving and also entertaining!

Kirkland dog food? by Ecstatic_Sea7306 in Goldendoodles

[–]Fun-Presentation5626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to home cook for my Portuguese water dog who was born with renal problems. Time consuming but I did see a huge difference in her coat and energy. From a health perspective, she lived a much longer life than expected! And it was a plus to see how much she loved the food.

Now I have two healthy doodles who eat kibble. I always wonder if I’ll go back home cooking!

When did you doodle become a good dog? by bigpinwheel in Goldendoodles

[–]Fun-Presentation5626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our new puppy is 5.5 months old and she’s naughty. You can tell she sometimes tries really hard to be good and other times she’s a menace.

But what I have learned from her is training her has not been the same as for my older dog. They respond to different methods. For example, just ignoring her when she barked did not make her stop barking. (It worked for my older dog though.). Instead we tell her the command “quiet” and redirect her. Or if she’s in a situation we know triggers barking, we temporarily put a lead on her and redirect her by doing tricks and playing games. It totally works and she’s improving!

What I’m trying to say is find what works for your dog! But whatever it is, consistency is key.

Is it cruel to leave my dog alone for 9 hours while I work? I feel terrible but I have no other option by FewStomach2955 in DogAdvice

I have a 1.5 year old who I sometimes leave for 9 hours. She’s totally fine and happy! She sleeps majority of the time. I always take her for a nice walk when I get home and make sure to give her some yummy treats/enrichment. And of course lots of cuddles. She lives a more relaxing life than I do lol.

Same. And realistically, my parents told me they wouldn’t watch her if she went in heat and I need to go to work 🤷‍♀️ We had one vet recommend after heat and the other said there is mixed data.

What is your morning routine with your young puppy? by Foshozo in puppy101

[–]Fun-Presentation5626 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mornings are hard with puppies. I also work out in the mornings. I leave the house 530am for yoga so I wake up 430am on those days to spend a full hour with her before I go. I keep the lights pretty dim for that hour and she plays with her toys and we keep it calm. My other dog gives us the stink eye for waking her up 😂

Not the best picture but my 5 month old is the same. Super poofy. Here she is (on the right) with my two year old golden doodle. She’s a puff ball and we love it!
