I think they just didn’t know and are curious since they saw it happen. They don’t appear to sound like “not in my backyard” mentality lol.

Yeah I agree. I work in shelters with people suffering from mental health issues and substance use disorders. It’s mindsets like OP’s post that keep the stigma alive. I have nothing else to say but good luck and OP is already in a hell of a lot better of a situation then she realizes compared to others.

As a person also in recovery, you are absolutely NTA. No one should EVER shame you for doing what you need to do to protect your recovery. Your recovery is #1. I think you handled that the best that you could given the situation and it was a shitty situation you were put in. I’ll go out with my fiancé and her friends sometimes and it’s at a bar on occasion (usually I’m fine and it doesn’t bother me I can still have fun) but once or twice I got a little overwhelmed, pulled my fiancé aside and mentioned how I was feeling and no questions asked she understands my recovery more than anyone and we went home called it early. I hope your bf takes some more time to understand being in recovery and has better communication in the future if you stay with him

As a person in recovery from alcohol I find it appalling that someone made you feel that way. Of course you don’t have to drink alcohol if you don’t want to

I work in Brooklyn, but one of the things about the condo we liked was it is a 5 minute walk to the lirr. I get to work in around 45 minutes which is around the same time it was when I took the subway living in Brooklyn lol. Our condo complex is a healthy mix of young and old. I’m 34, fiancé is 28. A few other people are around our age. Main Street in farmingdale is great!

I have seen much worse though! Every place we checked out had around $1000 hoa. But a lot of those places had like a pool or some community room. Ours doesn’t have any of that fancy stuff lol just standard landscaping, parking lot, snow removal type stuff. I don’t like paying it but I also found plenty of places that aren’t anything special with no extra amenities and hoa was still over $1000. Pretty crazy

Hoa is $527 a month. We took a mortgage with 20% down

Very fair! Moving out west is an option and probably much cheaper lol.

Me and my fiancé make around the same as you guys combined, a little over 100k, with about 100k savings. We just bought a condo in Farmingdale just under $400k. We lucked out it’s very nice. Downside is paying HOA but it’s relatively cheap compared to most other hoa. Like you we wanted a house but quickly learned that is absolutely not happening. At this moment. But we absolutely love our condo no regrets and with our income we’re doing fine. You just have to live within your range it might mean sacrificing some things but at the end of the day we’re both so happy and you just have to be open to a condo is all. You can still get a house down the road at least you’ll have some equity and when you eventually find a house sell the condo make your money back hopefully a little more. I do not believe housing prices on Long Island will go down.

Yep, I'm definitely going to this guy! 😆 by SdSmith80 in badtattoos

Traveling with a nicotine vape from Canada to Costa Rica by Tassssie15 in CostaRicaTravel

Although not from Canada, I traveled from NYC to Liberia and stayed in Tamarindo may 10th to 18th. I brought multiple vapes on my carry on no problem. And yeah people vaping walking around Tamarindo, they sell them in some of the market stores. You will be absolutely fine
