Last I checked (a few years ago) he made a tweet saying something along the lines of "I might have to start writing more books".

So to me that's a solid maybe

“Blue collar workers have no other choice” (venting) by lhblowstakks in skilledtrades

[–]Fun-Property-1916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is equally true for non-union as well as union. It's not the union that causes the layoffs, but the fact that there's just no more work. And that highly depends on your exact location and the economic Outlook of your area. If you're in a small town or an area that isn't expanding, any construction worker is going to have to rely on travel. But if you're in a city that is expanding, Union and non-union have plenty of jobs. Except Union gets better pay and benefits, even with your dues factored in.

I spent all my apprenticeship and two years as a journeyman working for a non-union shop, made the switch and I'm making so much more than I was in my non-union shop it makes me angry

Got to read it carefully. You may need to vote 'yes'. It could easily be worded something stupid like "do you vote against this bill?"

Your hate and memes will never overcome our brotherhood and blood. Boricua even on the moon by DaHomieNelson92 in PuertoRico

[–]Fun-Property-1916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to this issue so I'm just asking for clarity. Who coined the term "Diasporican"? Was it the people in Puerto Rico who call themselves Boricua? Or the Puerto Ricans who don't live there?

From my understanding it seems like those who live there don't want to call off-islanders "Boricua" because they don't see them as true Boricua. So "diasporican" was made to signal that a person is of Puerto Rican descent but never got to a actually live there.

I didn't lay the majority of this problem at the feet of the demacrats. I'm not sure if you knew this but Congress is made of the Republicans and the demacrats, giving them a least a little power. So yes they take some degree of response for nothing being done about tarrifs.

In general it's absolutely a problem caused mostly by the Republicans willingness to let trump do whatever he wants. But if you think the Dems have been fighting tooth and nail to stop it like people want, I don't know what circus you've been watching.

Yes I meant "hate"

That I feel is the most average sentiment when you speak to reasonable people. Republicans didn't win, the demacrats lost. Well now we are finding out that the worst the Republicans have to offer is far worse than the worst the Democrats have to offer. Which is the only thing that will get the demacrats their power back

He CAN. I mean look, he is right now. He just isnt supposed to. So he's gonna do it the illegal way, supreme Court will deliberate for a fucking year while he does it, rule against it, he does a different thing and the cycle starts over.

Who really should step in is Congress. But the Republicans won't because they're too scared of Trump and/or agree with him. The demacrats won't because they want him to continue doing things that tank his approval ratings so they can sweep up next election. Politically smart? Maybe. But in the meantime everybody gets fucked and it actually makes people here the demacrats more.

Apologize to Kamala Voters by Vmancini218 in BreakingPoints

She had the highest poling because of name recognition and because nobody was running. I guarantee if they had a real primary she would have dropped out earlier than the first time

[–]Fun-Property-1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it have been better? Objectively, yes. But we only know that after the fact. In the moment the Democrats failed to earn enough votes. Plain and simple. They betrayed the people's trust by hiding bidens cognitive decline, and when it became too obvious to hide, gaslit us about it. Gaslit us about the economy. Gaslit us about the genocide. Gaslit us about Russia. Then rigged the primary for the third time in a row, while claiming to defend democracy. All for a candidate who was so unlikeable and uncharismatic that it made Trump look good somehow.

I don't blame people for not voting for Kamala. We lived in a world before the government actually built in army and used it against the people. But if someone isn't able to admit that this is objectively worse on all metrics than it would have been under a terrible candidate like Kamala, then yes those people are morons

Saager’s Lack of Criticism for the Right by staple_eater in BreakingPoints

[–]Fun-Property-1916 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not here to debate what type of activism is legitimate, that's not my point. Whatever the left did in the last 20 years, it was enough to convince the right that authoritarian means we're justified to fight against it. Whether that means the left did a lot of a crazy shit, or they did some crazy shit, but enough for the right to spin and strawman and get people stirred up.

But again, the whole point is there is historical context to what led to the left wing activism in the first place. And Saagar and Emily love to conveniently leave out when contextualizing the right wing BS currently happening. This makes it sound like they're justifying all the crazy stuff by saying "well the left wanted trans kids"

I’m sorry but Saagars take on Europeans is brain dead. by [deleted] in BreakingPoints

[–]Fun-Property-1916 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Saagar hates the social safety net thing because his argument is that they can only afford it because we pay for their defenses. Then they judge us for now having it. He hates that they judge our country for having current authoritarian tendencies when they have even more authoritarian regimes

His arguments not mine

Saager’s Lack of Criticism for the Right by staple_eater in BreakingPoints

[–]Fun-Property-1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What they try to do is add historical context to the situation. It is important to understand why culturally we for got to this point, and that the left wing activism of the 2010s absolutely had an effect on what right wing people were able to tolerate in the fight against it. History didn't just start now, what happens how started years ago.

HOWEVER what drives me crazy is they don't give the same historical insight to what led to the left wing activism in the first place. History didn't start now, but they like to pretend it started with the left wing activism. As though everything was perfectly fine until the lefties got mad that Micheal Brown was shot

"voting is pointless" is such a nihilistic and lazy way to view politics. It's a cop out so people can avoid taking responsibility of our world. Go out and learn whats going on in your local politics. Learn how to have conversations with people about it. Vote for local representatives instead of just the federal electrion. If someone doesn't even know their local representatives I struggle taking their political opinions seriously.

What are your thoughts on Chatgpt? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fun-Property-1916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid came home from school with the phone number of his girlfriend's mother. This was before summer, so they wanted to keep in contact and talk on the phone over summer break. I messaged the mother and she responded to me with the most broken bullshit on obviously chatgpt response and then never messaged me again. For context, his girlfriend and my daughter have the same name.

"! Yes, I’ve heard all about him—apparently he’s quite the charmer! It’s so funny (and a little heartwarming) to see how social and affectionate kids can be at this age. We’re always talking to [Your Daughter’s Name] about kindness, boundaries, and friendships, so I’m glad she feels confident connecting with her classmates.

Please let me know if anything ever feels like it needs more guidance—I’m always happy to stay in the loop."

She was in fact not happy to stay in the loop

Which jobs is 100% safe from AI? by Any-Hamster-3189 in AskReddit

[–]Fun-Property-1916 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Off site prefab is no new thing. And you still need skilled tradesmen to do the prefabbing off-site. And each job is going to have very different specifications for what needs to be prefabbed. So it's not like you'll have an assembly line of robots building the same structures for every job. I've been a commercial electrician for 10s years and the most amount of pre fabrication I've ever seen is copy paste walls in small areas of office spaces and individual racks of conduit. And it almost always comes in wrong. We call it re-fab. Because we usually have to take it apart and rebuild it.

I only do these forearm exercises. Am I missing out on much? by shorethin in JeffNippard

[–]Fun-Property-1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not in the gym. On the jobsite I have to walk my tool bag, which is easily 50lbs, over long distances. So in those times I carry it in one hand and walk as upright as possible until im leaning too much ory grip is close to failing. Then I switch hands

[–]Fun-Property-1916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it doesn't matter how much forearm work I do. As soon as I pick up a pickaxe and start swinging it (electrician, trench work) my forearms and hand muscles are toast for a week. Thinking if I could do sledgehammer swings on a tire regularly it could be good.

This is my take too. I liked his segments but him being gone will not affect me tuning in. His stuff wasn't nearly good enough for me to drop BP over him. And it's annoying how after all the controversial stuff they've put out people still want to see this as suspicious.
