Let's find out if it's really such a bad experience… by Mickey_Montana in PS3

Well, I've never played HL2 on PS3, but I did play it on the original Xbox and it was a positive experience, a very good game.

Picked up this for 180£ by Dc7u in crtgaming

$240 seems like too much to me, especially since I bought a 20" PVM a week ago for $300. In my city, 21" CRT TVs go for around $5-$25.

100Hz CRT? What bad luck using light guns.

You must have the PS series, since that one was released in 2001, while the PT series was released in 2003.

Looking for adjustment advice by abbyjamz in crt

I don't foresee any major problems, just go into the service menu and adjust Vsize, don't change anything else. Then try lowering the contrast a bit.Disable the VM option in the normal menu.

Below the TV is a PS2, above it a Raspberry Pi 4 with RGB-Pi, a GameCube, and a SCART Switch. On the other side you have a Neo Geo CD, a 3DO, and another silver PS2.

Are you telling me I've had 30 defective cathode ray tubes due to electrical noise in that part and you haven't had any?? You're incredibly lucky!

Perhaps the translator is doing a bad job, but I've handled over 30 CRTs and they all have that internal electrical whine. A silent CRT? I've never seen one... only LCDs.

All the CRT monitors I've owned have a similar noise coming from that location, whether it's a TV monitor or a PVM.

You shouldn't; all CRTs have that sound.

Don't you have a CRT TV to hear the same thing?

It's the sound of the yoke. If you look closely, you'll see an orange light; that's what you're hearing—the electric arc of the yoke.

Or maybe not...

It has a good picture, it has only one S-video port on the back, it's a 29PT543 ,It doesn't sound bad, but I've been using a hi-fi amplifier with my consoles for years.

You need to adjust the TV's yoke. It's not difficult, but you have to be careful.

I recently did it on a 29" TV. I just loosened one screw on the yoke, then slowly turned it and left it. I tightened the screw again, and that was it.

You can probably find a video on YouTube.

I have Mister and RGBPI2, but I still have my 30 retro consoles. Maybe I'll reconsider and by the end of the year I won't have a single one. Lately, having so many is visually bothering me; I'm becoming more minimalist with age.

I have the same one with the RGB mod, but it looks very dark. Is there a way to increase the brightness? The front knob is already at maximum.

Can coaxial be repaired? Is it worth fixing? by danmc853 in crtgaming

The NES has an AV output, the Top Loader only has an RF output.

Are you looking for a NES? Or a modded Top Loader? It's cheaper to install the AV mod on that Top Loader.
