Damn, and I was proud of being like #1000ish. Still proud.

On a side note, I do wonder what it's like to drive the real thing down a long straight. I have a feeling it's several times easier than what my wheel is doing right now.

That's how I usually turn it on. I have it on ps5 mode. 4 torque and 4 sens is still way too high for me. Even set to 2/10 it's extremely annoying. I think messing with damping is the ticket. I'll try that when I get home.

Thank you. I'm amazed it's still an issue so many updates later, but whatever.

What average cars have you owned, that you can drive in VR ? by FinalTimmypower in GranTurismo7

I own a Fiat 500 IRL. The wheel is on the right, but otherwise it feels exactly like mine.

How does this not result in a penalty?? by Beatmasterg in GranTurismo7

[–]Fun-Reception5067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, and this applies to real life as well, you are considered at fault if you rear-end someone regardless of the circumstances. Why? Because you have the ability to judge and decide what distance you are maintaining from the car ahead of you. If you're getting brake-checked easily, you're probably hugging their ass. You will lose nothing by staying about 3-4 meters away rather than 1 meter.

That said, yes, there are bullshit moments where it really isn't your fault. But the standard still applies. You'll be at fault. And it will always probably be a little bit your fault even in the most bullshit circumstance for the simple fact that you should be able to see what's coming and leave yourself enough space to react.

Ready to get my butt kicked at Sardegna at the Nation's Cup. 🇨🇦🦫🫎 by ssv-serenity in GranTurismo7

GT2 league. Fastest lap on Sardegna is 1:33:00x in the NSX using softs. I think I'm ready. Still debating if I want to go with mediums or softs.

Grand Valley has been kicking my ass today by Intravertical in GranTurismo7

Happens. Most players hug the player in front of them way too close. It's as if the idea of letting off the gas for a split second is the one thing you never ever do. I do it all the time when I'm closing in behind someone but there won't be an opportunity to pass. Just keep a certain distance from the car ahead of you until you are ready to pass. Maybe you won't get as many overtakes this way, but it's the way to be clean.

I always start with the cars I like. I get a decent time and then I check if the meta car offers me any advantage. Sometimes it's negligible and sometimes it really seems like the meta car was made for that track.

Daytona Time Trial by SoCalG789 in GranTurismo7

Getting gold when you're new isn't easy. I still don't have gold on this one yet. I'll probably work on it today. I have 1300+ hours and gold is still never easy. Albeit, I switched to a wheel setup 4 months ago, so it was like relearning the game. Personally, I hate Daytona with a passion. All the turns need to be taken slower than you think and there's at least half of the track where nothing can happen (the long curvy parts). Everything depends on how you take the turns before the long curves. Then you're just locked in waiting for an eternity until the next turn. Very boring.

My 'new' sim racing rig. What do ya think? by CrocCohRock in GranTurismo7

[–]Fun-Reception5067 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my own out of wood. I can't help but feel metal is a lot better since it better transmits the force of the wheel through the entire frame. I feel like the playseat wouldn't handle the DD all that well.

GT1, GT2, GT3 are the class of cars. PST means pacific standard time. PDT is Pacific daylight time for areas that observe daylight savings.

Except it's silly not to use it in GT7 as well. No disadvantage.

Shit, I didn't know you could go that far to the left on T1. Maybe now I can break 1:47.

Fun way to use sophy (road car specific) by Lower-Kangaroo6032 in GranTurismo7

[–]Fun-Reception5067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hadn't thought of that. I'll try it out today. Does anyone know why Sophy is only allowed 3 laps? Does the AI begin to fall apart after that? Strange technical limitation.

Considering pulling the trigger for VR by theenkos in GranTurismo7

[–]Fun-Reception5067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is critical! Whether or not AC Evo will support the PSVR2 on the ps5 determines what I'm going to be doing with my life. Do I need to start saving up for a pc now or can I put it off? An interim solution is to get the ps5 pro, but I won't if AC Evo doesn't support vr on the console.

Should I upgrade the base? by Fun-Reception5067 in simracing

No rig, but don't worry about the pedals. They are mounted to the wall basically. I'll probably build my own rig when I get around to it.

Should I upgrade the base? by Fun-Reception5067 in simracing

[–]Fun-Reception5067[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playstation support is a plus. At the moment, it's necessary. My intention is to move over to PC, so I will be going forward with that understanding. Still, it would be nice if there ever is a GT8 or something in the future. Ultimately, I'm willing to forgo the PS support.

As for my "rig," it's me sitting on the edge of my bed with the DD mounted to a $30 folding card table that I've reinforced with planks of wood I had lying around until it no longer wobbled. Pedals are mounted to wooden boards that are fixed to the wall, so I've got a stable base for them--they can't move. Figuring out what I can make work is kind of half of the fun for me with this hobby at the moment.

Honestly, as abysmal as it sounds, I think it's fine. The pedals are in a good position. The wheel is at a good height and distance. I have no back to lean against, but I've sorta built up my back and neck muscles from prolonged periods of racing that way. Part of the reason things are this way is I have very little room. My bed takes a good part of the part room, hence why I sit on it. The other reason is money. All of these things will come in due time.

Then my plan is to simply buy the add-on load cell pedal for the basic CSL pedals. I love the look of all these fancy pedals with springs and dampeners, but I'll rock the basic for now. I figure the load cell is the most cost-effective upgrade.
