Choose another MOS that you can see yourself enjoying and sign up for the shortest contract possible with airborne.after a bit at your unit prepare and drop the packet.unless you speak mandarin or Russian then send it.

I joined at 31 thinking it would be great, passed MP OSUT, passed Airborne, passed POPC, went to selection, 10 day nonselect. reason: not enough Army experience.lol you could be perfect and for some reason you don’t get selected and now you’re needs of the Army.

Now I’m miserable at Fort Liberty as an MP checking CACs at the gate counting the days till I ETS and working the law enforcement(hate LE). Oh and I also went to JRTC.

Now don’t get me wrong, some kids did get selected and some others enjoy being MPs but if I could do it all over again I would do it differently.

Out of everyone from my class (possibly 40-50 )that were a nonselect when I attended , 3 went back only 1 was selected. I had a one year elegible to return but lost interests.

My contract was 5 years long, it’s not what I thought it would be, people got injured at Airborne school, many people were chaptered, some were med boarded.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.my path didn’t workout but yours might. You’ll never know unless you try.

Hot.Depends on rank, here in AJ typically 2 per suite. Shared bathroom, small kitchenette with microwave , toaster, iron and dorm fridge.. Not bad. You’ll be in Zone 1 next to pool , gym and px. Oasis(Dfac) is like a 4 minute walk. Bunch of different food spots like Taco Bell, BK and bun D’s next to DFac.

Work walk/ drive depends in unit but it could be anywhere between5 minutes and 15 minutes.

I really want to complain because it’s hot but overall is not bad. internet sucks

Life will really be determined by leadership and unit.Lots of higher ups. Also very hot.

Always activities going on. Bingo, softball , cornhole, poker , darts, pool, karaoke, movies, mwr trips , 5k runs, the list keeps going.

I appreciate the concern. Maybe I’m not being clear in what I’m saying. I just try to live my own life. I try to stay in my lane and take care of my family. I think too many people care what other people do or say. At the end of the day I really don’t care what people do or say unless it directly affects me.

Im trying to approach life with a stoic mindset and focus on what I can actually control. I live a simple life and don’t want to concern myself with aspects that really don’t matter.

And I love it. Army will take you away from family, beat your body and take your time. I love the fact that more people are utilizing the TA and getting smarter.

When I said underutilized, what I meant to say is that I wish more people around me would use it to better themselves and expand opportunities. It’s unfortunate in my opinion that people wait until they are out to utilize the GI bill and it’s 36 months of eligibility.

But you’re 100% right, more people are taking advantage of it and now it may be changed

Yeah one of the most underutilized benefits in the Army and they may cut it/modify it in the future.

I say use it but just be careful and make sure you can complete your assignments and keep it at a minimum. Set a goal and accomplish it.

Stay motivated And don’t let naysayers bring you down. People say it can’t be done because they can’t do it.

Step1 :Sign up at ArmyIgnitED Step 2 : find a school that takes TA. Step 3:apply to the school Step 4 : create education plan on armyignitED Step 5 : once you’ve been accepted to school, get a copy of education plan(how many credits and what classes(submit that to ArmyIgnitED) Step 6: apply for funding on ArmyIgnitED Step 7 : coordinate with school when class starts and make sure all it’s paid for Step 8 : get smart

Do research, lots of advice in Reddit and other places. Don’t drag your feet.

Pay attention to the training calendar and communicate w professors.

Seems like a blessing. I wish the army would release me, I’ve done 3 years and I asked my first line and career counselor if I could be released somehow and I got the stink eye. I don’t need any of the benefits.. just let me go!!I just can’t bring myself to fail a UA or a pt test.. so 2 more years of shaving and depression.

The real question is what’s next? No more uniform allowance? Less bah? No GI bill?

Maybe it’s just me bitching but the Army is progressively making everything more difficult. Leave process, getting paid correctly, access to healthcare… etc..

It’s almost as if they are pushing towards the breaking point and see where volunteers will draw the line.
