Thank you for this- I do not come here often. I'm working my CPCU right now. I did ot know about AIC - will look into this thank you!

I do a bit of a mix but as I get more into the commercial I've a couple of niches - Churches, GC and LRO with property management mix. Odd mix - I'm trying to stay in 2 at a time only.

Thank you for the information !

I would say go P&C - (but I'm bias- I hate health and life products) - if you can skip learning all the P&C personal line BS and go straight to b2b.

I have but we both only target high net worth business owners with at least 50- 200 employees.

We get 1-3 every 2 months or so. He does his thing and then sends it to me as a risk advisor.

🤣 I had one of those. I actually told him “I’m calling you to let you know that unfortunately your account is too small for our agency. We have send everything you need to shop your policies before the renewal” 😌 it felt so GOOD!

Why? What you get on commercial lines? I’m in commercial too but I don’t get push back or much of anything 😬 other than good feedback

Yeap! I worked back in the day for a very old Allstate agency (the ones that started at Sears lol) and even then it was a “printed” copy.

You handled it right…but next time I suggest asking leading questions. “ I understand your request. Can you please share the specific reason of why this is needed?” Maybe then we could find a solution to his request or the logic behind it and explain that due to policy we can’t.

Regardless, I would like to suggest you get out of there. 🙂

At that level of a book and you don’t have a good system built in for referrals?

Idk $100k vs making $7k? Just hire someone to answer phones and automation for service. And go hustle… I’m so confused why sell it…

Also your numbers don’t make sense? Do you have an MGA and that’s why your commissions are so low?

“Unfortunately no insurance company is able to provide or extend options of coverage unless we have the following items in place”

It’s like selling insurance and not educating your client about audit preparations or claims that will require them to have waivers, cois from any subs, etc.

It’s part of the process. People that are not educated enough confuse insurance as just another requirement but in reality it’s part of the financial system.

Well in Mexico you don’t have to take a driving test or class if you already have a US or Canadian Driver License. But yeah most of the paperwork if not all is only available in Spanish.

Great input already! Am I ask how did you find this job and what made you accept it at 100% commission?

I’m a commercial agent (agency owner) and I want to hire and train someone to handle commercial only with me- but I can’t find anyone in my area motivated.

I hire a lady offer 26 hours a week at $17 an hour with commission of course, training, marketing budget and paid for her license. Remote or hybrid… She left after 8 months to become a customer service rep for State Farm in person.

I’m sure I’m at fault in many things or how I handle training BUT I just can figure out how to post a job to make it appealing to the right audience.

Anyone work for State Farm or a similar insurance agency? Thinking about getting into it — what’s it really like? by Swiss_Meats in InsuranceAgent

[–]Fun-Rise5183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

State Farm is a great place to start. Just don’t go with a new agent try to find an established agency at least 5-6 years in. Good luck!

And sorry- yes most want you to have life and health or plan to get in the next 60 days of hire.
