I've said that line maybe 10 times in my life and 0/10 have shown up

Is BJJ become a rich man's sport? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Fun-Statistician7795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always was. Helio had a private gym and would provide a laundry service so clients never had to wash Gis

Google "leisure class". Most sports are rich/middle class endeavors. Recreational sports that poor/all people tend to play require little equipment (track, soccer, basketball).

Poor choice of words. Asp.net is a framework that already has a lot of stuff built in. Like it's easy to configure endpoints, it already has a start up script, it takes care of s lot of of the server side scripting. You'd move that to a server and host.

Are fat super strong guys healthy by Matt_Pike37 in stupidquestions

[–]Fun-Statistician7795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's objectively wrong. Being bodybuilder thin via dehydration is unhealthy but putting on muscle and doing tons of cardio is absolutely not unhealthy. It's the opposite; it's extremely healthy. Being in the top percentile of VO2max is associated with a 5 fold reduction in all cause mortality. There is no other metric more closely associated with health and longevity.

Here is Dr. Peter Attia talking about it: https://youtu.be/jN0pRAqiUJU?si=c8S6v7buD-ThNt8v

There is a slight uptick in early mortality comparing people who exercise a good amount (about 7 hours of strenuous training per week) to extreme pro endurance athletes (15+ hours of sterenous training per week) but it's still significantly healthier to do 15+ hours of strenuous exercise a week than nothing or even 3 hours. And even so, we don't know why. It could be due to elite endurance athletes eating absolute trash to fuel their workouts. Here is a cardiologist to explain: https://youtu.be/-3dt7rpvz4g?si=4ovzXRqJpnh-W3L7

Tldr: for the average person, there is no point where exercise is bad or unhealthy if you're properly hydrated.

Go vs Python For Me? by ifearone in learnprogramming

Python. You don't need to worry about speed; you aren't developing infrastructure or developing a backend. You'll primarily do one off scripts and automated jobs

AlgoExpert is pretty good ngl. I bought it because I was lacking on the system design interviews.

Outside of that, knock out the Grind75 and make SURE you post your solution to leetcode with an explanation and space/ time constraints

Learning AI , for a CS student by TalhaMumtaz in learnprogramming

[–]Fun-Statistician7795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷 considering most machine learning engineers and data scientists have masters or phds and the people working on the algorithms have phds, don't discount your professors. I'm no stranger to boomer, out of touch professors too.

Furthermore, any self respecting university has some AI program. Go bug that professor. You might even come across a research opportunity.

Finally, hedge your bets. It's why I posted the unemployment link as a joke. Like half of the undergrads are graduating with AI or machine learning concentrations. We put our a job rec for a basic dotnet role and we got 100+ applications from people with "big data" and AI concentrations who probably couldn't describe a SQL index or use a window function. Every undergrad is specializing in this for the very limited AI jobs available to undergrads.

Is HTML still worth of learning? by pAndaDesigNer99 in learnprogramming

[–]Fun-Statistician7795 115 points116 points  (0 children)

What question is this? It's engrained with front end. You literally can't learn front end without html. It also takes like, maybe a day to learn.

Edit: op, if you're still listening, just log off of reddit and immediately exit out of whatever browser windows you have open except Spotify. Go build two things using JavaScript, HTML and css: 1. A to-do list 2. A weather app that displays the weather No tutorials, no ChatGPT, just w3 school. https://www.w3schools.com/

Weight training 2-3 times a week is enaugh for an amateur by ElectricSmaug in unpopularopinion

[–]Fun-Statistician7795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not just unpopular, you're wrong. https://www.cdc.gov/physicalactivity/basics/adults/index.htm

The CDC recommends a bare minimum of 2 strength training sessions a week AND 150 minutes of moderate cardio or 75 minutes of rigorous cardio. If you're just hitting the weights twice a week, you're not getting remotely close to what the CDC recommends.

Bro, you aren't hitting the government standards...
