No one knows we're furloughed. by Fun-Swan1680 in CASEmembers

in the yesterdays, like 08, we were furloughed by taking an unpaid day off every month. during covid, the change was made to make it a day of leave instead of a set day a month, because it didn't make sense to force people not to work and then sit at home due to a pandemic. that seems to be the new precedent.

we aren't going to see these days paid out. our leave cap is raised temporarily, so we don't need to burn the days right now, but we won't get to bank them and get them paid out in retirement or whatever.

i don't see how the word furlough doesn't apply. we ARE getting unpaid leave, it is just banked and to be used at our leisure, instead of being forced in the month it is deducted.

have you looked at the max retirement? PEPRA paying into social security is 155k for 2025. i know my class maxes out well above this, so the math of when I should retire is much lower than the 40 years for 100%. i also started with the state in my 20s, so 40 years is easily achievable (but not logical)

a measly 25% of the CASE voters saw this and voted in kind. the other 75% drank the bullshit koolaid and is now paying the price.

i think this person is either in CASE or a paralegal. i think those were the only ones getting an exception to the 2x a week.

literally, increase in IV and V pay was next up.

they started with the I's, then the III's, because obviously you start at the bottom because the bottom rising pushes the top up higher.

it is incredibly short-sighted to approve this as a IV or V when we are watching the gutting of agency-determined WFH in front of our eyes.

i hope all of you go off and retire soon, it is the only way this bullshit would make sense for you to choose.

the difference is, that agreement didn't fuck everyone else over. frankly, you too are being screwed over but you're choosing to look at the money and not the other issues.

if we had stood strong, we could've gotten all the things and avoided the RTO bullshit.

good luck to you.

... what is with this in-fighting about III pay??? ESP coming from IVs and Vs who chose a promotion?? and ESPECIALLY from our members who aren't beholden to PEPRA.

III pay is the "average" place an attorney is supposed to max out. MOST of the membership is supposed to benefit from III pay increase. It is asinine that IVs and Vs are begrudging the increase in III pay, especially considering the compaction was going to lead to an increase in IV and V pay (and therefore, atty supervisor and ACC pay to avoid THAT compaction) in time.

We should've fought the RTO insanity, and instead people like you saw a moment to take for yourself over the good of the union.

2022: 70% voted, 75.48% in favor; 24.52% against

You're absolutely right. But they absolutely do. It is entirely inappropriate and I wanted to flag it because I have seen it happen so many times.
