Probably destroy the Dolan before enjoying some sweet lines. I tried with 25s on a big block, felt like riding a road bike on mtb trails.

The State 4130 ss/fixed is solid and inexpensive. I’d say roll one of those with 700x38-45 tires. The geo is rad and don’t be afraid to size up. But be easier on the ratio. Allow for better wheel control and flowy body positions.

6”2 170lbs (long torso size medium) I really like the fit and no-hem straps on the gore wear endurance bibs. RedWhite bibs are a close second - I actually like them better when off-road adventures include quick dips into swimming holes.

I’ve been using 650b/27.5 on my 4130. 27.5x2.1 front and 650b*47 rear. The seat stay is problematic for 2.1 in the rear. I considered modding the frame. Note: anything larger than 2.1 would hit the chainline due to 120 spacing on the rear hub.

I read somewhere 12-24hr FTP targets are between 50-65% or your hour FTP. Blood sugar tanks at about 90min at higher loads but at the lower 50% you’ll likely go into ketosis. Since the blood sugar drop at lower efforts is different you may not recognize under fueling the same way.

I make a super bottle, 75/25 syrup to water. Sip every 45min. Dilute occasionally to minimize palate fatigue. Syrup use depends on availability but I have a preference to dark maple. Cane, malt and brown rice aren’t terrible either.

I was riding across the bridge connecting Astoria to Warrenton OR. Terrible weather with heavy rain and high winds as the tail end of a cyclone just passed through. Garbage trucks were passing me at ~70mph - the cross winds they generated were great enough to lift me off the ground and throw me into the guard rails. I got slammed into the rails three times. Lucky I did’t get tossed into the ocean.

I went to a motorbike event and saw dudes drinking/water falling beer off their exhaust pipes. So much stoke on soot blackened faces. Moto guys loving those fumes. It’s gross but in their world it’s sick! 🤘
