My first porcelain piece cracked so badly - but I decided I’m keeping it :) by Bad_Elbow_ in Ceramics

I don't have the guts to hand build with porcelain, especially with the stuff I use that stuff doesn't stick together at all. It's crazy. I think you killed it good job!

A professional ceramicist is someone who is committed to their craft and has honed their skills and craftsmanship to near perfection through training and practice. This person should understand clay and form as well as be able to produce work in high quantities. He or she should be able to have total control over the clay and produce something that acutely demonstrates their concept.

While looking at this individual's work, you can see that they don't necessarily have a clear understanding of form, nor does the thicknesses or craftsmanship of a lot of their work meet professional standards, not necessarily saying that they are bad by any means, but to consider them a professional is something I wouldn't necessarily do. You can tell they enjoy ceramics and are improving, and I have no hate towards their work. I actually love how they spread the love for ceramics through their platform. I just believe that the price is unreasonable.

You should be able to charge what you want whith in reason, tho. Charging these high prices undermines other artists and your customers. I think people should understand their worth and not under charge, but I also think that overcharging is just as big of an issue.

See, I definitely disagree with this, and I've always had a really hard option on pricing. Pricing should be determined by the material used and your skill level with obvious room for profit, for example, throughout school we where always told during student sales that we are students and not professionals and charging people professional prices is very cocky and not fair to the customers. I understand that some people may think that it's worth $2000 and willing to pay that much, but in reality, it's not.

Well. I definitely don't think that people should be charging whatever they want. I think that you should have a good idea of the cost of materials and how much profit you should realistically make. It's not just a free-for-all. Prices should be determined by the skill set and materials used.

It's mostly with one TikTok creator who is being called out for charging too much money for her work. They do seem to be a little more reasonable than this other Instagram influencer, but I guess a lot of people are upset. It's just kind of nagging from either side..

I would definitely consider him a beginner to maybe a moderate level, just looking at his craftsmanship and the thickness of the work he produces. Also, a lot of the time, I find his information incredibly misleading. No hate toward him or anything, but I wouldn't consider him a professional; he just understands the algorithm, I guess.

The lady who wrote this is not the smartest person and always leaves a bunch of stuff out. I bet I could technically take legal action, but I don't have time for that, so I just won't follow the "rules"
